No scores posted at FeEx Field?

The lack of out of town scores is just one of the many discomforts at FedEx Field.

The gameday experience is simply more pleasant elsewhere. Even in Philly where the fans are aweful, the patrons at least get the out of town scores with frequency.

But as long as every seat in FedEx Field is sold, the complaints about such discomforts will continue to fall on deaf ears.

Gameday discomforts galore, I can't seem to stay away from Raljon.

Yeah, I need to read "LOVE THAT CHICKEN....FROM.....POPEYES!"

Lol!

And no Funky Four.....thank god! But again, your typical FedEx Field experience. Improvements would be nice,

The Four is a big loss, ain't it? Thank heavens. That one had been beaten past death into the ground and back out the other side.

DISCLAIMER: This is NOT anti-deaf people. It is simply an explanation of the situation aimed at the DS haters who will criticize anything and everything about the stadium and assume this is a way of squeezing more money out of us loyal fans.

Hang on: You can't do both, help the deaf *and* sell some TVs? You've got to think more critically. Check Snyder at Six Flags. Is parking on the other side of the street from the park more dangerous than walking right up to the gate? Sure it is. But Snyer wasn't looking to outlaw third-party parking services [primarily, secondarily, tertiarily, etc] for the good of parkgoers. He wants more dough.

It's useful to hide decisions that will cause bad will under an ostensibly related and inarguably more "important" discourse, even though it's ultimately unrelated beyond the cover it provides for the original unpleasant move. That's Foucault, right? ;)

Mark my words: it's only a matter of time before Snyder bans tailgating at FedEx altogether...or he will impose fines on folks who don't have their butts in their seat at kickoff time.

I hate to say it, but this is one area where I'd actually support Snyder. I know it doesn't have anything to do with my enjoyment of the game, but it would be nice if the upper deck didn't look half-empty at kickoff! Of course, knowing 'Lil-Napoleon, he'd probably try to use this to make more money and whittle the number of people doing the pat-downs and taking tickets to one per gate!

Back to the scoreboard thing......at the Giant game, you've gotta keep a watch for those messages they randomly show on the videotron. "Redskins fans are the BEST in the NFL" and "Its good to get LOUD on defense!" Without question the most bizarre thing I've seen there yet.

I wouldn't be thinking about the Giants or Cowboys. I'm thinking about the Redskins.

I'll find out who won or lost when I get home.

I didn't find out Philly lost until I got home. And *shocking* the lost still counts! Even though I didn't find out until later!

Why should I care what the score of that game is when the skins are still playing?

Yeah, you can act diehard, and it's nothing that would keep me out of the stadium, but it's nice to see. I could deal with it every quarter or during halftimes, doesn't have to be up the whole time for me, but it's nice to see.

I'm just as big of a skins fan as anyone and I'm watching the game, but there's an hour of gameplay and you're there for at least 3 hours....

Without a doubt

After they appeared, there was usually a brief period where I had a sudden urge to join the army and fight communism.

This is another marketing strategy. I only saw other games scores twice on screens in 200 level. All other time they showed stupid commercials. Seems Snyder only cares about money lately. I would rather find out other games scores then see stupid commercials.

The halftime score board was not really enough for me, but because of the closed captioning, they have run out of places to put the scores. It is what it is. Maybe they showed scores at the quarters and I did not notice. It was a bit frustrating but not such a problem that I care so much.

anyone complained yet?

Actually, a good question. Has anybody contacted the Redskins organization to ask about this?

I have contacted them in the past with a comment or suggestion about the game day experience and have received ZERO communication in response - no acknowledgement of receving the message, no thank you for your concern, nothing. So I stopped bothering.

Sorry, but this is simply not true. Pre-Snyder - the scores ran where the digital day clock sits near the 50 just below the upper deck. I posted this earlier in the thread. The day clock was a day clock before the game, and then it became a "show the scores around the league" display during the game. This changed with Snyder took over. Now it stays a day clock all day.

lol @ this being an "issue"

I know it's just me, but when my Skins are playing I could care less about other teams. The scores will be there when I get home so I see absolutely NO POINT at all in getting bent out of shape for nothing.

Again, I know it's just me though....

Not just you bud. I have to agree. It's a cute extra to have the scores of other teams on the board, although its not needed for me. I'm there to watch the redskins. But thats my :2cents:

The Sports Reporters have asked Karl Swanson about this every year and his response is always the same. It's something to the tune of "We run the out of town scores at least once a quarter on the video boards located on the bottom of the club level near the endzones, and again on the large video board in the endzones at halftime".

Just b/c the scores run only a few times a game at a very fast pace while play is in motion on the field in front of you, doesn't mean that they don't run at all.

Displaying scores consumes time, space and audio that can be used for more productive purposes such as advertisement, and that's the bottom line here folks.

If you you want a consistant display of out of town scores to be a part of your gameday experience, you will need to purchase a Kangaroo TV, or start going to more road games.

Agreed, very strange. It's like something George Orwell would have in a novel.

"Resistance is futile. You belong to big brother. Make noise on 3rd Down."

Maybe they're trying to convert fans of the visiting club.

I did and this was the response I got:

I spoke with the guy that handles all of the scoreboard stuff on gamedays. Here is what he said in regards to your question.

Starting in 2006 and continuing thru this season, the E*Trade boards will display Open Captioning to assist our deaf and hard of hearing fans. The out-of-town scores are shown at a scheduled time on the Jumbotrons during halftime. Periodically thru the game, we display out-of-town scores on the upper third of the Jumbotron. We have met to discuss this and will try and display and use the stadium P.A. announcer to announce scores more frequently.

Last year, I remember they were putting scores up on the E-Trade boards because our group was seeing Miami put a pasting on Chicago (when the Bears went into that game undefeated - we were hosting Dallas that day).

In any event, I get the impression that they have received quite a bit of correspondence about it. We'll see over the course of the next few home games.

Really? You are a fan of the Washington Redskins, and you don't care at all about what's going on in the rest of the NFL? Very strange.

Dan, let me see if I can explain it to you, because it's the way I feel as well....

I am a fan of the REDSKINS, not the NFL. That's the way I always have been and the way I always will be, especially since the league went Socialist in 1994. I don't watch games the Redskins aren't involved in. I don't pay much attention to the league in general beyond those things related to the Redskins.

I think this is a phenomenon brought on by years of losing. If the Redskins made the playoffs often enough, I suspect these people would understand the importance of seeding in the post season.

I don't see how anybody who grew up with this league can simply not care about the rest of the games on Sunday.

I don't root for anyone else and I don't play fantasy, but I always find other games to be interesting.

The NFL is the only sports league where I can watch any two teams play and find it interesting, as long as the game is not being played at the same time as a Redskins game.

Does this make me any less of a Skins fan?

Do you not ever watch MNF or SNF Mass?

Did you not watch the Superbowls if the Skins aren't in it?

That's fine. I know I'm a different sort of fan in this regard. I have never been able to root for Leagues or Sports. I root for individuals and teams. That means I have no rooting interest in the other games, and without that rooting interest I find the games boring and uninteresting.

Not at all. I'm the one who's a little different on this topic, not you.

I do not watch games that the Redskins are not involved in. Regardless of whether it's MNF, SNF, or the Super Bowl. Once the Redskins' season ends, the entire NFL season ends for me.
