  1. Dyst, that is just not true. I keep getting emails every year to get me to buy tickets again. If you really want tickets, call them back.
  2. I was a season ticket holder for many years, my family had seats on the 50 yard line at RFK and they moved us to the 48 when we went to FedEx, but that didn't matter as most of the fun was at the tailgate. I finally gave up my tickets several years ago because I decided to stop being a masochist. I used to visit this website on a daily basis, this is the first time I have been here this season. I used to watch every game I did not attend from start to finish no matter what every week. So far I have watched exactly one complete game. The team has lost me, a native Washingtonian. Oh, the weather has been great for the first Sundays of the season. Had wonderful walks and have been much happier.
  3. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but Bosch on Amazon prime is an excellent show.
  4. Thanks for posting that. It does not surprise me to find this out about this guy, but it is nice to know the whole story.
  5. It's funny that now that I am giving up my tickets, I find someone on this message board who has sat two rows in front of me for all these years. I have been in 142, row 10 for years.
  6. It is amusing to go from page 64 to page 65 of this thread. From the happiness generated by the notice that the season tickets were on their way to delivery to the depression that this terrible season generated. I will not be getting my season tickets again next year. I was on the fence about it for the past several seasons and almost did not renew last year when the price jumped so much, but after this debacle, I have decided that I am getting too old for this. Besides, my saint-of-a-wife deserves to go to the theater for a change.
  7. When I sell my tickets at "face value" I always sell them at face + tax. Nobody has ever balked at paying the tax so you should not lose money on that. If someone wants the tickets, they will pay the tax, which is clearly listed on the ticket. Regarding the preseason tickets, I used to resent them, particularly since I was a season ticket holder before we had to purchase the preseason in order to renew our season tickets. Now, I just enjoy those games immensely. The weather is great, we always have a fun tailgate, and my wife does not mind going to those game with me because I am actually relaxed at a Redskin game. As far as the idea of making the preseason games "free" and raise the ticket price for the regular season games, that would be such a transparent marketing ploy that the criticism Snyder would be subjected to would certainly not make it worth it to him. I don't think that that would be a good move at all.
  8. Just like the tax reform act of 1986. Bipartisan compromise to draft legislation that both parties know will be passed, and signed by the president, before ever being introduced to either house of Congress. There is an interesting article in todays Washington Post about falling over the cliff come January. If it happens, and all the Bush tax cuts are automatically repealed, all talk in Congress will be about cutting taxes and the Republicans will be able to say that they kept their pledge to never raise taxes.
  9. If you don't know how the Senate is going to vote you are not paying attention. And, for the record, Congress does not work as you describe. I would advise you to read the wonderfully written "Showdown at Gucci Gulf" about the 1986 tax reform act or "The Bill, how legislation really becomes law" about the National Service Bill and you will see how things can and are actually be accomplished here in Washington. I do not work on the Hill and never have, but I have many friends and family who have, and still do. Having grown up in D.C. my entire life, I get it from osmosis.
  10. Sigh. We both know how the Senate would vote. The House knows how the Senate would vote. Anyone who is paying attention knows how the Senate would vote. Semantics does not help us move forward.
  11. Please. The House knew full well that the budget that they passed was going to be DOA in the senate. Just like all of the time they have spent trying to repeal the affordable health care act has been wasted, and they know full well it would be. It is time for our leaders to come to the middle. Raise some taxes and cut some spending and finally start moving forward.
  12. Great reference. Didn't they do a survey recently where there was at least 51% support for each essential provision of the plan (with some like no pre-existing conditions being as high as 80%) but the precentage of support for the bill overall was less than 50%? That just does not make sense to me. Could it be that people are (and I know this is a shocking concept) not actually reading the provisions of the health care law that they are opposing?
  13. I just read much of this thread with interest. It was fun to read all the talk before the verdict, while the verdict was being reported (in some case wrongly) and afterwards. I did skip some in the middle and was really wondering how the thread got hijacked into a discussion of patent law. I had to go back a bit to see how that happened. anyway, totally fascinating and I would like to thank everyone for giving me such an enjoyable morning. And, I don't care what anyone says, I am not buying a Nissan
