Drex
Godfrey is familiar with Williams' system but is getting up there in age. Should be interesting to see how this works out.
Soup
Monkeys would bring in O-Line tryouts, Vinny brings in WRs and LBs. Amazing
Hail_to_Kessel
Why do we continue to take in cowpuke castoffs? Is there an echo in this thread? Anyways, I've noticed that Marshall hasn't been tackling well at all lately...especially during the Steelers game. Watch the game again and watch how the running back just bounces off him. Aston
Pardon the dead horse resurrection, but releasing Marshall now really makes me wonder about the Briggs trade again. Didn't we supposadly agree to Briggs & #31 for the #6 , but rejected their counter to throw in Lemar? If we were going to cut him anyway, why not pull the trigger or at least counter back? REDMAN7
This move did not surprise me. Although in position, Lamar was missing tackles all over the field versus the Steelers. I have always appreciated Lamar, as he has been an underdog his entire Pro career. He has lasted much longer than any of the "experts" ever expected. I hope someone picks him up. Best wishes LM! REDMAN7
Pardon the dead horse resurrection, but releasing Marshall now really makes me wonder about the Briggs trade again. Didn't we supposadly agree to Briggs & #31 for the #6 and Rocky, but rejected their counter to throw in Lemar? If we were going to cut him anyway, why not pull the trigger or at least counter back? The rumor I heard was that we offered to throw in Lamar but the Bears wanted Rocky....

JohnnyUtah
Basically, he's taking Espy's roster spot. At this point, he's camp fodder.Jason I missed this...what happened to Espy?
Touchdown Redskins
Wow, I didn't see that coming. Were there any reports of Marshall sucking it up at TC? Godfrey's good, though, and he knows the system. It's good to get an experienced linebacker as a backup, and Godfrey won't get pushed around on the run as much as Marshall did. JimmiJo
I missed this...what happened to Espy? He tore a tendon in his knee Saturday against Pittsburgh and is out for the year.
AngloSackSon
Marshall tackling Julius Jones for the controversial safety at FedEx last season was one of my fonder Dallas memories of all time. Good luck Lemar!

JimmiJo
And for thse conjecturing that he asked to be released, please see this from JLC's blog: http://blog.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/ "The Redskins have released linebacker Lemar Marshall, whose production last season was affected by injuries and, consequently, had fallen somewhat out of favor with the team. Still, he was a solid special teams guy and knew how to play every linebacker position in this defense. Privately, he had worried about his role and was uncertain about his future here, but said this morning he had not asked for a trade. "I'm totally surprised," he said. We'll add more as we get it." McMetal
It does make you think back to the Briggs deal and wonder if they were mulling Lemar's replacement even then. That would have been stupid though because it would have kept Rocky on the bench.

Patrick86L
I admit I don't have any clue about Godfey having not seen him play but most people are claiming he is a reject. I would think if he started 13 games and a playoff game for the Chargers defense hes gotta be pretty good...I hope this signing doesn't mean Marcus' injury is pretty serious, but it looks like it. NavyDave
surprised we didn't snip someone else to make room and hold onto lemar for now, but whatever, I'm not the Gm You may not be but there are times I wish my team actually had one so there are a lot fewer knee jerk reactions and questionable moves.
