DieHardSkinFan05
i know it doesn't matter now because of the win.. but that decision to kick the FG on 4th down late in the 4th quarter was huge! i was thinking to myself what are you DOING!!!! GO GO!! but then i realized that that was probably the smartest thing they could have done in that situation regardless if 90,000+ ppl thought other wise.... i guess thats why hes a hall of famer
Mickalino
When Joe Gibbs is coach, he kicks a FG 10 times out of 10, in those situations.
Monte51Coleman
Ask the Jets. They didn't kick, didn't convert, and lost by 3.
skinsfanevan
personally, i probably wouldve went for it but in gibbs i trust, 99% of the time. As for that 1%...11 seconds left on 3rd down? I'd take a shot at the end zone, let lloyd go up and grab one.
argentina_redskins
Wut if we wouldn't have made the 4th down? At first I was pissed at Gibbs for going for it but during that Challenge break I realized that Jacksonville WOULD be able to move the ball downfield in case they got it back and probably kick the winning FG! Great decision by Joe Gibbs !
brianforster
it took the wind out of me that our impressive drive was coming to a possible game ending halt, but i knew that in the end a field goal was best. the 4th and 8 conversion for jax was massive.. that put knots in my stomach.. we could have ended the game right there. AzSkinsFan63
No brainer...the only reason it was even thought about was because of how well the Skins were dominating the LOS.
MRMADD
Here's the deal: if you know the Jags offense is capable of marching back down the field, you might think you need to go for it and get the TD instead of the FG. But that's wrong. If you go for it and don't make it, then the Jags offense only needs a FG to win. As they proved, that would be a certain loss. So you have three paths: (A) go for it and make it, ( go for it and don't make it, and © kick the field goal. In A, you win. In B, you lose. In C, you've got a 3 point lead and the Jags have to march the length of the field in 2 minutes just to force overtime. Given that you're playing a very good defense and it's more than a Mark Brunell dive for the first down, I think you kick it in that situation. bubba9497
What if we went and failed, then Jax went down again for a FG it was the correct call
ST21
I knew Joe would kick the field goal but I wanted to go for it. That's why I'm a fan!!
TD_washingtonredskins
I would have leaned toward going for it...but that's because I was caught up in the macho emotion of the game. I was thinking we get the first...run the clock out...and kick the game-winning FG or punch in a TD with only seconds to go. Again, that's being a fan...not playing the odds. Joe made the correct call.
DieHardSkinFan05
yeah the fan in you sometimes gets caught up in the moment... you want them to go for it.. especially after a drive like that.. but it was the right call
New
When Joe Gibbs is coach, he kicks a FG 10 times out of 10, in those situations. You are absolutely correct, and I hated it! Thank God Santana Moss saved his *****! Yeah #89, won the toss too!!! Guess that's why JG is the coach and I'm not! :gaintsuck
dcoles11
he makes $6 million a year to make decisions like that. I get paid $0 to second guess and then praise him when it works out
MorgantownHokie88
If you play Madden, you go for it. Tough call. Personally, I would gone for it. But who cares now.
kevinklein
I really thought we should go for it because our offensive line was so dominant. If Hall misses that FG we lose the game, but it all worked out.
4skins23
I think it was the safest call. The "Joe Gibbs call". We played it like Gibbs wanted. End of the 4th quarter we went run for run grinding down the clock eating up time. Wearing the defense out on the field. The scariest part was having Hall kick the field goal. From there it was down hill. If our "D" couldn't stop em then we go into overtime and I'm sure Gibbs new their "D" had to be tired. So we had the advantage. True Gibbs Style. Hats off to you Joe Gibbs!
terpfan
You have to kick the Fg in that situation, I have no problem with that. We definately should have gotten a yard on that 3rd and 1 though, considering how we had been running up to that point. That was the only dissapointing part of that situation. Washington_Redskin
Gotta take the 3 points as much as it killed me not to go for it. Gibbs would be getting killed right now if he went for it and ended up losing by 3.
hail2skins
I was at the stadium and know that they reviewed the spot of the ball, but never saw a measurement. I was surprised that the Redskins didn't ask for a measurement. I know that it was 4th and 1, but exactly how long that "1" is goes a long way in how I would decide. If it was less than half a yard, I'd be inclined to go with a QB sneak. If it was more, you definitely should take the points. How far away was it , anyway? SoCalSkins
When ever you have Brunell at qb and you can take the lead, you do. No questions asked. great call.
Gregpeck99
Typical "chicken-ball" call by Gibbs. I would have gone for it by putting Portis in to let the Jags think he was gonna get it ... then run the QB sneak. Everyone knew Letfwich would go down the field with 2 minutes left and they would kick a 3-pointer at least. Geeez ... I wish Gibbs had bigger balls. Hooterman
Absolutely the right call. Funny, there were so many peeps around me at the game screaming go for it. Never, ever pass up the opportunity to put points on the board and take the lead. Too bad the defense made it even close there at the end.
