  1. Marc J. Spears ‏@SpearsNBAYahoo4m Wizards also would "love" to bring back Antawn Jamison, who played there from 2004-10. Wiz texted the mutually interested Jamison on Sunday This would be pretty big - I think we should have a shot for the minimum. Give Martell a 3 year / 11 M contract, play Antawn at the four, and sign either Maynor/Udrih with the bi-annual exception. Then roster looks like this: Wall Udrih Beal Temple (re-sign for minimum) Glen Rice Jr. Porter Webster (would obviously see minutes at the 2 when going big and at the 4 when going small) Ariza Singleton Nene Jamison Booker Vesely Okafor Seraphin Not too bad, honestly. Just need to get rid of the three useless dudes (Vesely, Booker and Singleton), pick-up another big at some point (mid-season or next season) and you should be fine going forward.
  2. Let me be clear: I can't stand Ernie. Terrible GM. 10 seasons and 1 playoff series win, are you serious? Pathetic. But, you have to give him the 2013-2014 season as his last shot. He basically set us up for this. Hiring a new GM this season and overhauling everything with no cap space would be really difficult. Besides, this team has shown that it can compete for an 8-seed when fully healthy. I just don't see the point in hiring a new GM in a year where we have no manueverability, whatsoever. Better to give Ernie the chance to win a playoff series next year and if he doesn't, good bye. Then, Emeka's and Trevor's contracts come off the books, we can get rid of Jan and Trevor (if he doesn't show anything) and bring in someone else with lots of cap space for 2014.
  3. what a game, what a win. god, I love basketball. if only the wiz could just compete for the 8th seed, it'd be so much fun. Brad Beal is becoming a legit player in this league, keep an eye out for this kid.
  4. let's go, right back in this game, baby. stop Varejao and we can get this one.
  5. one of them is pretty injury prone, so you can't really count him. And honestly, after watching this crap for 4 years it gets tiring. The highlight of the Wizards for the past 15 years is getting a #5 seed... kinda hard not to be disappointed.
  6. God, I hope I'm wrong about the Wizards. Been a fan for way too long - and been crushed by continuous disappointments. I just don't see how Price/Crawford/Ariza/Booker can play key roles on a playoff team, and it's not like the rest of the team is great. Also, besides the talent point, unexpected injuries (Wall/Seraphin) will definitely affect our record, as well as expected ones (Nene/Okafor -- should've taken into account when trading for two injury-prone players).
  7. Also, the Ariza/Okafor trade is probably the worst one the Wizards have made in the past 10 years. Paying $7 million to a #3 who can't hit a J to save his life? You're telling me you can't find that in the open market for the minimum? Ridiculous. Everyone knew that NO was trying to dump salary and yet you gladly take it on for nothing. We couldn't have managed this rebuild any worse. At first, we wanted to blow it all up and build just around Wall, but yet we've ended up surrounding him with veterans who are no better than C- talent. I just don't get it. Then again, some of the young guys might take a step forward and help carry this team to respectability. But they haven't shown that much before - God, I hope I'm wrong and for the first time in 5 years we can achieve the lofty goal of being respectable (I'm talking just 35 wins -- sad, but i'd take it).
  8. Been a Wizards fan since moving to the US, about 8 seasons or so. This is probably the worst roster ever put together in DC. The starting 5 tomorrow make me want to throw up - I have no idea how anyone could be predicting playoffs for this team. I'll still root for them, but I just don't see how this team is anything but a bottom 7 team in the league. Ernie Grunfeld is the worst GM in the NBA and I still don't understand how they kept him.
  9. The stats may seem nice and everything, but if you watch games every night you can tell that his defensive performance is extremely poor and there seems to be no improvement in that category. Blatche's lack of defense probably doesn't help, though.
  10. First, I am glad everyone here is so high on him. I have really tried to root for him and he makes me a believer for 2-3 games at times, but then the same issues keep coming back up. Stats do not tell the whole picture. He is probably the worst defensive Center in the East and it seems that all his opponents have figured out what his moves on D are (he usually tries to jump to block the shot, so they just fake it and drive past him). I really hope he can work on it, and now that I think about it, I'd give him this whole season as a starter to see if he can't develop it, but I would like for the Wiz to compete in 12-13 and I don't want a project at Center then.
  11. This is my personal opinion, but I don't think McGee will ever develop into a Top10-15 caliber center. While he might have the talent and the athleticism, he just does not seem smart enough to ever put it all together. I would love to get Derrick Williams at 2, and sign a guy like Nene to play the 5.
