Bigfoot was probably getting worked over regardless, but another reason I find it odd that they banned Knees to the head which actually end fights, but not elbows which merely open cuts and hamper a fighter's ability to see even when they aren't necessarily hurt from the elbow shot.

As soon as that first TD failed, you could see all the fight go out of Frank Mir. This fight doesn't make it out of round 2.

Does anyone else feel like Mir just quit there?

Mir got absolutely out classed in that fight. Never came close to scoring a take down and the stand up game couldn't have been more lop sided.

JDS is a relatively small heavy weight. Bones Jones could feasibly move up for a super fight.

Mir forced into a boxing match? After a total of what 1 real takedown attempt, and second one that happend when he was off balance?

JDS is going to be a tough matchup for anyone who can't stand and bang considering his takedown defense is pretty legit.

Still a damn a shame we didn't get to see JDS vs. Overeem which would have been a completely different fight.

With Sonnen getting permission to take testosterone though, the future looks bright for Overeem!

JDS is fun to watch on his feet because he is fundamentally sound. His punches are straight and effective. They aren't wild haymakers that often are confused for "awesome striking" He knows how to use head movement so after he connects he leaves himself out of the way for counters and collateral damage.

For all the people who get called "excellent strikers" merely because they pack a lot of power in a punch, it is nice to see JDS actually be every bit as good as advertised in technical skills.

One thing I've noticed though, his head doesn't move after he throws to the body. Somebody like a Cain or Overeem might be able to pick up on that. His defense overall could use some improvement. If he was a boxer, his defense would be his overwhelming offense. He such a good counter striker and has such fast hands for the division that his opponents can't capitalize on the openings without getting tagged.

Well yeah, and that is why it was the Overeem situation was so disappointing because Overeem while not as technical a "boxer" is a K1 striking champion, who is more dynamic with his other weapons such as elbows, knees, etc etc.....

Mir quite frankly was a sitting duck once JDS showed that he was able to keep from getting taken down.

Overeem vs. JDS would have been a completely different fight, and one I still want to see badly!

Dana says "he likes" the Cain-JDS rematch. Cain seems very likely to be the next contender for JDS
