Destino
BJ has fought in 3 different weight classes. P4P, BJ's better. The fight at WW? Obviously GSP has the advantage on weight. That being said, don't forget about the specifics of the first fight. BJ knocked GSP around the ring for the first round. At the end of the fight, GSP looked like a guy that just got a steel chair shot. BJ lost, just like he lost to Hughes, on conditioning. Keep calling him out on conditioning. I made that mistake when he went against Sherk, and Sherk is close to GSP's cardio, and probably almost (if not as) strong as GSP. The Sherk fight never tested BJ's conditioning. It was a weak boxing match against some of the shortest arms in the UFC (sherks). Sherk came in with a game plan almost as bad as Silva had when the Axe Murderer decided to stand still and swing at Ladell. Will he be able to go 5 rounds with most of it spent on his back? GSP will score several takedowns.
Dance04
what a day. First I meet Cote and Goulet, they sign my fight shorts. ( Pic coming soon Then I get to watch a great card. My thoughts... Macdonald shocked me tonight. He put up a much better fight then I ever imagined. The florian huerta fight went as expected. Florian is the better fighter and has too much experience. So much for being "a cake walk" I am so happy that manny got knocked the **** out. Lesnar is without doubt the strongest guy in the UFC. Too bad he is built like a tree. His arms are too wide that he cant sink in a choke. I also feel he still looked like an amateur. Take away his size and he wasnt that impressive. He looked like a giant old school Kos. Even when he was in mount he did nothing. As for my boy, I am so happy. scores of 50-43 50-44 and 50-44. He tooled fitch. He tooled him bad. He proved that he can do what he wants, whenever he wants. His outclassed fitch with his striking. He outclassed fitch with his wrestling. he spent 30 seconds of a 25 minute fight on his back. The worst part is, before this fight everyone was saying that Fitch was the toughest match for GSP to date. People said he had a legit shot to beat him. Now that GSP schooled him, those same people will say that fitch is overrated, instead of giving GSP credit. Look at the 2 guys who are in a #1 contender fight, sanchez and alves. They both lost to fitch. You really think they stand a chance vs GSP? hell no. As for him vs BJ, that is gonna be amazing. Do I think my man will win? Yes. Do I think it will be easy? hell no. Do I think the fight could end in a split decision? Hell yes. I've been saying since I started reading this thread. GSP is the most complete fighter in the game, hands down. No one has his combination of striking, wrestling, jits, strength and athleticism. He is the p4p best fighter in the world.
lovetoaster
By the way, I did not much care for B.J. coming into the ring after GSP's fight. We all know that fight is coming, it is not like anybody is dodging anything. It is on the docket after GSP's win tonight. He just had a hard-fought win. Let him talk about his title defense. But no, B.J. needs attention and comes in and talks more than GSP gets a chance to after his win. I would have been OK with it if there was more time left on the PPV, but they were in a time crunch, and cut things off after B.J shut up. I would have liked to hear a little analysis from GSP, but oh well. GSP is a class guy and I like to hear what he has to say after a fight. Can you imagine if the tables were turned and GSP would have tried to steal Penn's spotlight after the Sherk fight? Penn probably would have punched him. That just rubbed me the wrong way. Anyone that says Fitch is overrated has no idea what the hell they are talking about. GSP is just head and shoulders above everyone else. Fitch kept fighting and GSP took some shots but still dominated. Both of those guys are amazing fighters, but GSP is just on another level right now. herrmag
The Sherk fight never tested BJ's conditioning. It was a weak boxing match because Sherk came in with a game plan almost as bad as Silva had when the Axe Murderer decided to stand still and swing at Ladell. Will he be able to go 5 rounds on his back? GSP went wrestling crazy in preperation for his fight with Koscheck and no one has been able to stay off their back against him since. Sherk went after him for 3 rounds (was it 3?). Standing and boxing is taxing, and Sherk did shoot with ZIPPY success. That alone speaks volumes about BJ's takedown defense. Sherk and GSP are similar in their styles (though GSP is more athletic). A winded BJ could lose to GSP. A well trained BJ will not. Standing isn't even an argument, BJ wins everytime. So the question is, can BJ hang with GSP's cardio? If he can, he will win. I think that he'll hurt GSP enough standing up and GSP will spend a lot of energy trying to take BJ down. The only way GSP wins is in the 4th or 5th round with BJ gassing.
StillUnknown
He is the p4p best fighter in the world. i was with you until i got this statement:laugh: no denying GSP's skills, but i got him 3rd on p4p list behind Fedor & Anderson. i can understand the argument for putting him above Anderson even though i don't agree, but i dont see how you can argue for him ahead of Fedor
Chachie
I am so happy that manny got knocked the **** out. Me too. I have to admit though, he took it well. His big sheepish grin after the fight showed me something I didn't expect from a cousin of Karo Parysian. Manny doesn't take himself as seriously as he came off on TUF. Who, besides his loss to Serra, has gone the distance? That was absolutely GSP's toughest opponent in a long time.

I thought he was finished at least 5 times. He showed his toughness. Really, if it wasnt for GSP, he would be the champ of the division. Fitch went up a notch in my book tonight

Just sick of seeing champs dominating every weight class except LHW. I suppose Brock could change the HW division though. Although, people forget how big "Big" Nog is. Damn it Dana, we need some Fedor. Give him his Sambo.

You see, what really rubs me the wrong way is that GSP doesnt get tested, and it's as if people think its his own fault. He just is that much better then everyone else in his weight class. People always abandon their fighters they claim were gonna beat him. Instead of giving GSP credit, they turn and say bad things about the guy they claimed would whoop him. #98QBKiller
QBKiller, i'll have that sig for you sometime tomorrow Alright man I'm ready....K Flo totallty raped Roger Huerta. Sorry I missed out on the commentary last night guys I was watching it at a friend's house....so, thoughts: -Lesnar looks for real. His punching power and sheer strength are going to be hard to beat especially for anyone in UFC's HW division minus Nogueria. I still want to see his chin tested though....and wtf was his post-fight celebration? This isn't the WWE. Also who's next for him...maybe Cheik Kongo? -GSP offically belongs in the same company with Anderson Silva and Fedor. Fitch is one tough dude though to take the punishment he took in that fight and not get finished. Very impressive win for GSP. -K-Flo is the real deal. I'd like to see him fight Penn but it appears that Dana wants Penn/GSP for the end of the year...maybe K-Flo/Tyson Griffin (if Griffin beats Sherk) for a title shot? -Lol to Manny getting KOd so fast

ZoEd
Did anyone notice the shot GSP took that wobbled him a little? If Fitch wasn't so damn spent I think he could have followed up with something and at least made it fight. That was a war though, an absolute freaking war. Fitch is the toughest SOB I think I've ever seen. It's not like he just survived either, he survived and kept trying to fight. Great freaking fight. StillUnknown
I'd like to see Lesnar and Cain Velasquez. good matchup, but UFC's not going to throw 2 prospects who they hope to be the future of the HW division together so soon. Cain is a little bit more well rounded, but i think that size difference would be tough for him to overcome i don't think there is a fighter in MMA today that can stop Brock from taking them down to be honest

Destino
Where did you all watch it? I watched it at Hard Times in Springfield. Not as good as buffalo billiards in DC but not bad in a pinch. Same here, it's def cheaper to order it at home. My friend and I usually split it half and half and rotate whose house we watch it at every PPV. And chip in on beer and we don't spend more than $30-35 a person. Last night's card was one of the best I've seen in a while between the two main events.
