John Halverson vs. Jorge Gurgel

Since losing his only UFC fight to Roger Huerta, Haverlson has reeled off three staright submission victories. However I don;t think any of those fighters were as tough to submit as Gurgel. Gurgel always brings the fight. I expect this to be a very competetive battle. Gurgel will outwork Haverlson. I want to predict by submission, but I think it will go the distance.

Gurgel by decision

Luigi Fiorivanti vs. Luke Cummo

I think this is a pretty even matchup. Another on I see going the distance.

Luigi by decision

Diego Sanchez vs. Bielkheden:

Sanchez is starting at the bottom of the ladder again after losses to Koschek and Fitch. Sanchez mauled the bottom f the ladder guys before. I don't see why that would change. I expect the UFC to show us this fight if they have extra time.

Sanchez by TKO in the 1st.

Josh Koscheck vs. Dustin Hazelett:

Speaking of Kosckek. He better not be taking Hazelett lightly. I think he might be. Koschek will look to get back to his winning ways and I think that means he will go back to using his wrestling. Hazelett has a good guard and I see him (or just hope. I hate Kos) catching Kos in a submission.

Hazelett by Submission

Andrei Arlovski vs. Jake O'Brien:

After his last fight I officially hate Andrie Arlovski. He did nothing against Werdum to win the fight. All he did was stay away and jab. If I was another fighter trying to use the moniker of "Pitbull" I would think about suing Arlovski for dragging the nickname through the gutter. He hasn't should any "pitbull" qualities in over two years. I'm glad the UFC matched him up with a Lay'n Pray specialist, and I am glad this fight is not on TV. I think O'Brien holds Arlovski down for 15 minutes

O'brien by decision

John Fitch vs. Chris Wilson:

Fitch is a monster at 170. Wilson is outmatched. Hopefully this is the last time we will see Fitch fight someone outside of the top 5 in a long time.

Fitch by Submission

Yushin Okami vs. Evan Tanner:

Tanner was always one of my favorite fighters. His fights were always wars. I am pulling him big time and I am letting it get in the way of picking the smart pick. Okami knows how to win fights. He is a very good wrestler. I am hoping he isn't ready for someone as game as Tanner.

Tanner by Submission of the Night

Alessio Sakara vs. Chris Leben:

Leben recently said the reason this fight is on tv instead of Sanchez or Kos is that his fights are always exciting. I agree with him. This one will be a classic standup fight. Both guys have knockout power. I think Leben's chin makes the diference here

Leben by KO

Heath Herring vs. Chieck Kongo:

Herring needs to take Kongo down multiple times to have a chance here. I don't think he can do it. Kongo will eventually create some space and kick Herring in the head

Kongo by Knockout of the Night

Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson:

I am very excited for this one. Dan has never been knocked out, and he has only been submitted twice. both by guys names Nogueira. Dan will make this a good fight. He always does. In the end I think Silva is too much for anyone right now. Silva will eventually drop Henderson and finish the fight.

Silva by TKO in the Fight of the Night

I'm leaving out Halverson vs. Gurgel. I just don't care enough to waste a pick.

Luigi Fiorivanti vs. Luke Cummo

Cummo by KO

Diego Sanchez vs. Bielkheden:

Sanchez by TKO

Josh Koscheck vs. Dustin Hazelett:

Kos by G and P

Andrei Arlovski vs. Jake O'Brien:

Andrei wants to exit the UFC with a victory. That's why he'll once again fight conservatively. Why take a chance on getting hurt when he knows he's out the door? O'Brien's a true pitbull but Arlovski by decision.

John Fitch vs. Chris Wilson:

Fitch by Submission.

Yushin Okami vs. Evan Tanner:

Okami by Decision.

Alessio Sakara vs. Chris Leben:

No idea but I love Chris so Leben by KO.

Heath Herring vs. Chieck Kongo:

Kongo by TKO. Herring will claim the stoppage was short.

Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson:

Wow. What a match-up. I'm stumped. Silva by TKO because I have a sig bet with SkinsOrlando.

Andre Arlovski vs. Jake O'Brien:

arlovski just has to avoid the takedown which will be harder than he thinks. he'll stuff a couple and catch o'brien with something that ends the fight early

Arlovski by KO, 1st round

Diego Sanchez vs. David Bielkheden:

diego needs this win in the worst way. a lost to this guy would not look good at all. diego wins by submission.

Sanchez by sub, 2nd round

Josh Koscheck vs. Dustin Hazelett:

Hazelett has great bjj, but Koscheck has proven to have pretty good sub defense even when he faces guys with good bjj. Koscheck has better standup and will take him down to score some points. i see a late stoppage victory for Koscheck

Koscheck by tko, 3rd round

Alessio Sakara vs. Chris Leben:

Sakara has the better standup, but leben has the chin. leben wins by KO.

Leben by KO, 2nd Round

Yushin Okami vs. Evan Tanner:

Okami is strong for 185. i can see him taking tanner down and controlling him for a less than exciting decision.

Okami Unanimous Decision

John Fitch vs. Chris Wilson:

It Fitch loses this i'll be shocked beyond belief. hopefully they actually match him against someone who matters next time.

Fitch tko, 1st round

Heath Herring vs. Cheick Kongo:

Kongo is a big dude, even though he's only listed at 233. even though he's a big guy, he doesn't have one punch KO power, or at least he hasn't shown it yet. he punishes his opponents over time and eventually they fall. Herring would be wise to get this fight to the ground, but he won't.

Kongo tko, 2nd round

Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson:

you can break this fight down in logical and completely valid ways for both fighters. truly an even match up if there ever was one. today at the weigh-ins Silva looked bigger than i thought would he standing next to Hendo, and it wasn't just the height. If dan has understimated silva's strength, which i don't think he would, he's in for a rude awakening. something about dan causes him to stand with fighters longer than he should. if he chooses to stand with silva he will pay for it. i have a feeling silva's striking will be precise and varied enough to stop Hendo in the 3rd.

Silva TKO, 3rd Round

Josh Koscheck vs. Dustin Hazelett:

Kos by GP in the latter half of the 2nd (too bad too I cant stand that ****er)

Andrei Arlovski vs. Jake O'Brien:

O'Brien, Arlovski will just try to keep from injuring himself and lose in a boring decision

John Fitch vs. Chris Wilson:

Fitch by Submission

Yushin Okami vs. Evan Tanner:

Okami by Decision.

Alessio Sakara vs. Chris Leben:

Don't care who wins, Lebens fights are always a blast to watch

Nah I haven't seen those pics, I guess you posted them before I joined, as you can see I've only been around for a few months.

That's awesome, GSP is quite the technician and one of my favorite fighters. I like him because he has great form in everything that he does. My other favorites are BJ Penn and Din Thomas. I like BJ because I'm from Hawaii too and his flexibility in the guard and jiujitsu are amazing. I've liked Din ever since he called out Floyd Mayweather after a win in which he showed some great boxing and his jiujitsu is nice too. I like him even more now that I'm a part of the American Top Team family and I got to roll with him.

All 3 of my favorite fighters are pretty well rounded, I think. Who is everyone elses favorites? Limit 3.

Damn i can't name just 3..

Penn

Florian

Lauzon

GSP

Hendo

Chuck

Honestly i can't see how all you guys are predicting a Silva KO. Hollywood has never ever been KO'd the guy has fought severly undersized againest very good heavyweights, Page and he took everything Wanderlei had to offer and those were hard shots.

I think Hendo wins this fight easy if he just wrestles but he is hardheaded. Does anyone think Hendo does'nt finish the fight if he gets full mount like Lutter had?

Hendo is 10 times the wrestler and fighter that Lutter is and Anderson was in trouble that fight.

To me this is just a terrible style fight for Anderson. I think Hendo has a better chance of KO'ing Anderson then the opposite.

I think this fight will be won 2 ways either Hendo by easy decision or Anderson submitting him from the bottom.

Hard for me to name 3 as well. My favorite fighters are:

Cro Cop

Urijah Faber

Chuck

Anderson Silva

Fedor

I'm a big fan of Muay Thai and kickboxing so I love great strikers more than anything.

Cro Cop is still one of my favs because of his proficiency in kickboxing, everyone knows about his left high kick but he can strike with his hands very well too.

Urijah Faber isn't so much a striker as some of the other guys but he goes 100 percent all the time, few fighters can match his energy and intensity in the ring and that's why he's so successful he wastes no time getting down to business. He's the best wrestler in his weight class and maybe in the 155lb group too.

I have to mention Fedor here too because he is similar in the way that he is always going at 100 percent and not wasting time trying for a decision.

Fedor's ground-and-pound is by far the most brutal in all of MMA.

I love Anderson Silva because he is so technical with his Muay Thai and he's very lanky making it hard for guys to get inside his reach and even if they do he's one of the best out of the clinch. He's also dangerous on the ground, he's active in his guard and there's really no soft-spot in his game. Maybe his wrestling/takedown defense but it doesn't matter considering how good he is on the ground.

Chuck is just an exciting fighter. People hate on him because he's so popular with the casual fans and b/c he gets so much media attention but I don't care, I'm not scared to say he's one of my favorites.

Chuck is of course one of the best strikers MMA has ever seen, we all know he can KO anyone with either of his hands and with pretty much any punch because he's KOd guys with a variety of punches. One grumble I have about Chuck is I'd like to see him use kicks more often to set up his fists.

Also, his wrestling and takedown defense is world-class. Anyone who fights him knows that there is little chance of the fight going to the ground. His worst losses have come from being mounted and ground-and-pounded. He had a slump there but looks to be motivated again and he's using more kicks and even going for takedowns now, being more of a mixed martial artist and not just a guy with vicious hands.

very hard to limit this to just 3:

1.Anderson Silva: arguably the best striker in MMA, with a black belt in bjj so he's extremely well rounded. more than that he's very methodical, from his fights, it appears he studies his opponents and develops great gameplans for them. then outside the cage, he's as humble and respectful as someone could be.

2.Shinya Aoki: this one is due to my love of submissions. Aoki has some crazy flexibilty and probably has the best bjj for MMA purposes outside of BJ Penn. he has no stand up whatsoever and looks frail as can be, but he somehow manages to get fights to the ground and submit people. and you gotta respect a dude brave enough to rock the rainbow pants. lol

3. Big Nog: what more can be said about the guy. takes a helluva beating for 10min, turns around and submits his opponent. again, i'm partial to the bjj guys so he's one i've watched for a while now. been in with some of the heaviest hitters and never been finished. avenged all his losses with the lone exception being Fedor. standup, while not powerful, is extremely technical and effective.

honorable mention: GSP, the only thing GSP hasn't proven to have is the mental game. i think thats not a question you can answer by just seeing 1 fight. he showed tremendous heart and smarts again BJ Penn, but then gets KO'd by a natural Lightweight in Matt Serra. i believe his mental is the only thing that can hold him back.

I've noticed this too and I like it. The "sprawl and brawl" style is fine for an amatuer fighter that started their martial arts training with a striking art and is uncomfortable on the ground.

Chuck used to wrestle! That's why his takedown defense is so good. I'm surprised he doesn't like fighting on the ground. It'd be awesome to see him win by submission...just once...

3 faves:

Randy Couture- C'mon. He's Captain America. :)

BJ Penn- If that guy had cared about conditioning before now, Matt Hughes and Jens Pulver would be retired.

Nick Diaz- Always exciting, always competitive. Took more tough fights on his way up than anyone else in his age range. I hope he gets another shot at KJ Noone.
