"Er... listen up Vinnie! Inmate sent me over to tell ya that you got to sign this punter Jon Ryan or else. Because Inmate wants to see Ryan in a Redskin uniform this season. Because we are tired of the shanks, Vinnie! We are tired of the shanks.... if you get my drift!

Now we know that Mr. Snyder has deep pockets and can pony-up more then that measly 10 G's that the Packers offered Ryan.

So if you get my drift, Vinnie, I'm taking this personally. I want you to see to it that Mr. Snyder makes an offer to Jon Ryan that he can't refuse. You know.... like in that Godfather movie.

Or else I'm bringing some of my buddies over to pay you a personal visit. Or worse yet, we'll have Miss Cleo get out her voodoo dolls and hair pins and do a number on you."

Don't let this happen Vinnie! I'm gonna be ticked off and Miss Cleo will get out her voodoo dolls and do a number on ya.

I know the Redskins are interested and you talked to Ryan's agent. So what's the big holdup so far in giving this kid a tryout?

I know Danny's deep pockets can beat that measly $10 G offer by Green Bay. :paranoid:

Bengals | Team to make Ryan an offer

Sat, 21 Jan 2006 11:46:59 -0800

Ted Wyman, of the Winnipeg Sun, reports the Cincinnati Bengals worked out CFL P Jon Ryan and they plan to give him a contract offer. "They are interested and they are going to put an offer on the table on Monday," Ryan said from Cincinnati. The Bengals had Ryan take an x-ray and an MRI due to a previous ankle injury. As previously noted, he also received an offer from the Green Bay Packers. Ryan can't say if he's leaning toward signing with a particular team until he sees the official offer from the Bengals.

if the dude can kick off too i would grab him now

Funny you should mention it. Last week, one of the teams had a

"kick-off" specialist. I think it was Indy.

How can they retain a kick-off specialist and we can't? I know roster space is valuable, but.......Hall needs help on KOs.

Come on guys. Don't you all know that the CFL ball is small and 3/4 the weight of the NFL ball. It's also aerodynamically designed to fly further, which is why they are always completing those 80 yard bombs up there, and why the field is 140 yards long.

It was Jose Cortez, turns out he gave vanderjagt a few tips on a better way to kick field goals... I'm guessing that they probably only have 2 qb's...

OK, so I'm a Penn State alum and all, but.......

we had a kid up here 2 years ago that would rock the ball thru the end zone

I know, it's college, but I'm telling you the kid could kick.

David Kimball (Indy had him in camp 2 yrs ago) and it looks like the Giants

might have had him this year.

Anyway, PSU brought him in for a 61 yard kick to tie the game.

He pushed it right, but had the distance.

He was never our top FG kicker...basically just kickoffs.

I think he had something like 25 straight out of the endzone.

Just a thought.

A 92 yard punt is great, but sorry this guy is WAY better. Best punter in the nation:

Daniel Sepulveda (Baylor)

http://baylorbears.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/sepulveda_daniel00.html

And who WOULDNT want a punter that can do this: http://www.baylortv.com/streaming/000641/300kbps_str.asx

Yes thats the PUNTER making the tackle.

Edit: Suprisingly the best punter in the NCAA comes from a school that isnt that great at football. We are getting better though...Sic Em Bears

WOW! At least we would have a guy to take over for ST if he gets stuck in his legal trouble. :silly:

The CFL ball is actually quite a big bigger, not longer, but has way more girth to it

Not surprising at all. Jon Ryan's team is in last place, so he is on a non-great team too. And actually punters on bad teams have a stats advantage on other punters on better teams because the have a longer field to punt on and eventually the get a couple which get away and bounce 15-30 yards. How do you think Jon Ryan got a 92 yard punts?? His team stinks and couldn't make it outside there own 20 yard line.

doesnt seem like a very good idea to me, hes not in the nfl for a reason.

:applause: You nailed. Every couple of years there is a punter on a really stink team who burns it up because he gets some looooong fields to punt on and some get to bounce away.

I mean come on folks...a 92 yard punt?? It's a freak bounce against nfl-rejects and it is a statistical anomaly which is distorting his average. Also the CFL field is a lot wider so it can bounce forever & not go out of bounds.

Stick with Tupa, he's good and 40 ain't that old for those kickers & punters. I've seen Tupa nail balls inside the 5 yard line multi-times in the same game. Can you imagine our defense playing with THAT? Tupa all the way.

Yeah the Oakland Raiders stunk too, so I guess according to your reasoning you wouldn't want punter Shane Lechler on our team either?

We are not talking about a single punt of 92 yards here. Jon Ryan made over 100 punts and averaged 50.6 which broke the all-time Canadian punting record which had stood for 22 years!

And you dont think we should top Green Bay's $10 k signing bonus and pay him a rookie salary which is only $235,000? I said sign him, not give him the keys to the White House.

Your CFL punter will not beat out Tom Tupa no matter how how far he can bounce balls down an extra wide field. Want to signature bet on it ??

And think about it, why would a CFL punter come here to compete against Tom Tupa when he have a job handed to him on another team (not likely he will come here no matter what the contract). Age never stopped Gibbs from sticking with Mosley either? Punter & kickers can play a lot longer & that's how Gibbs likes it. :dunce:

Have you seen him play or are you just drooling over CFL stats??
