CENTRIST

CENTRISTS espouse a "middle ground" regarding government

control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on

the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention

and sometimes support individual freedom of choice.

Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind,

tend to oppose "political extremes," and emphasize what

they describe as "practical" solutions to problems.

ACCORDING TO YOUR ANSWERS,

You fall exactly on the border

of two political philosophies...

.

LIBERAL

LIBERTARIAN

LIBERALS usually embrace freedom of choice in personal

matters, but tend to support significant government control of the

economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net"

to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation

of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations,

defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action

to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.

I dispute one thing. I don't support a safety net for the reasons listed under liberal. I support it because no safety net leads to economy destroying results in the event of a long recession. If people lose everything in large numbers and no money is put into the economy to replace theirs then the economy slows down even more. This was a contributing factor to the great depression. No safety net, is bad policy.

Centerist

Halfway between liberterian and Liberal.

Isnt the questions on the quiz geared toward liberterians in general- some of the questions are leading in that direction

I thought it was between conservative and liberal?

Per Wikipedia:

In politics, centrism usually refers to the political ideal of promoting moderate policies which land in the middle ground between different political extremes. Most commonly, this is visualized as part of the one-dimensional political spectrum of Left-Right politics, with centrism landing in the middle between left-wing politics and right-wing politics. However, there is arguably more than one dimension to politics, so even the center has its own radicals as exemplified by radical centrist politics.
