  1. For decades I had the same sentiment about the '91 team. However after seeing full game films for the first time in sometimes decades, if you put this team up against some of the greats, we matched just about all of them tooth n nail. But I feel the biggest wild card on that team was Rypien. Didn't complete above 60% of his passes despite being the least sacked QB that season, I know it was a different era, and he would have many moments that season that he would duplicate in '92 Perfect example of Rypien was the Monday Night game vs Philly in week 5 Rypien alone had 4 turnovers this game, 2 fumbles and 2 bad picks, both which were avoidable and had little to do with Philly's defense, which to me is was one of the great defenses of all time that gets ignored. In this game we shutout a Philly team that lost Jim McMahon early to injury and had a QB in Pat Ryan who signed a week or so before. Sound familiar???? I think the '91 team could have taken any team into the 4th quarter and it would still be a game but I don't know if Rypien would have been good enough consistently to win games vs some of those great teams..
  2. CY is entering Mario Williams territory fast, yet his situation is different from his. Williams never lived up to hype of Casserly's pick and passing on Reggie Bush, but Bush didn't have the amazing career everyone thought he'd have and Williams had a solid career, albeit not amazing by any means, where he's not brought up in conversations much.. Everyone is on Chase to be at OTA's, I don't care about him being there, I care about his health. Its a knee injury, he relies on that more than a QB would, there's little doubt he'll be back on the field in '22 but how long will it take him to return to form if at all or if he's ever gonna develop into what we expected.. It might just be a season where he has to learn to trust and strengthen that knee at the cost of production, which will infuriate most fans. I don't know if fans want an Olivier Vernon, who on film did EVERYTHING and more as a DE, but wasn't the eye catching game changing type talent who rewrote the position, who only hit double digit sacks once and who cost a hell of a lot of money that didn't translate to wins..
  3. Too much draft capital spent on the Dline for not enough production. Before 2015 when we rarely invested in the front 4 I was all about going for high end Dline because a good front could help a bad secondary. I had to eat those words burnt and underdone too many times. We gotta move at least one of them and get better elsewhere. We need linebackers and some corners, I don't have St.Juste in our long term plans cause I'm too worried about his health. Too many concussions his rookie year. If he's forced into early retirement, I'm fine with it. More to life than the NFL.. Safety as well. I'm fine with a combination of Ioannidis, Allen, Young and say Smith Williams/ Toney. If you move both Payne and Sweat you can get a kings ransom.
  4. He was giving him the business. 10 yards. That's the end of the game.
  5. Yea, for a team on the way to 6-11, only 2 grades given out below a B??? QB: C - Given the fact Heineke had no weapons consistently besides Terry this year he did what he could, if this was Aaron Rodgers that fact would be pointed out more often. RB: C- Too many fumbles by Gibson. Not enough big games. McKissic did Mckissic things. Need to bring in another guy Wr: C- Nothing much behind Terry. TE: C+ Good blocking TE like Bates will hang around, concerns with Thomas. Seals Jones played better than expected. Oline: C+ Had some good games n bad. They aren't the hogs but they played better than expected. Dline: C+ This should have been an A but it seemed the league figured out Sweat and Young pretty quickly as neither did anything amazing this year. Sure someone will post PFF stats that make you say wow but you didn't say wow much during games.. LBs: D They need improvement DBs: D+ Got burned by legit QBs all year long. I guess Jackson had a knee issue he played through all year, props for that but its not a group I'm gonna remember years down the road. Curl was fine but we need to add a guy. I don't even know St.Juste is gonna be back. 3 concussions his rookie year? He should be out of the league.. Coaching C- I really want to be in those meeting rooms for the defense. Offensively What can Scott Turner do when few of his legit weapons are available..?? Overall D+++
  6. Would have loved to seen more Milne this season, sure he can run routes and get separation but it seems there things showing up on film and not on TV that he must need to correct and that's why we aren't seeing more of him. That's what I'm gonna go with.
  7. Yea I find it hard to believe we get past NY, Houston, and Det. without at least one of them addressing QB. I feel NY needs to move on from Jones, I don't think Detroit is in love with Goff, but with Houston, sure they could go QB but they have so many needs it would make more sense to trade back and get bodies but then they could be thinking we need someone to get fans excited about and Idk if Davis is that answer..
  8. And here's the thing though, I haven't seen anything vilifying Payne at all, and I don't view him that way either. I'm sure its a done issue at this point and hope it is. Its just yes the offense needs help, but the D isn't helping by giving up pts at a franchise record for the wrong reasons pace. If they played like the '04 team did I'd be the first to turn in my resume for campaign manager for Paynes father " We need a QB" campaign.
  9. Before I come off like some a-hole fan I do want to be empathetic and want to be as understanding as possible, I am after all just a fan. I do not have the kind of investment in this team like a family member of this team would. It is a completely different animal and I try to understand there is so much behind the scenes that can't be said, things that are known that can impact their lives much more than any fan. So that being said, like any caring dad Daron's father came to the defense of his son after punch gate on IG saying Allen called him a female and Daron stood up for himself. Fine I don't have an issue with that, guys are competitive, things can get heated at times, fighting is so frond upon in the NFL yet in hockey its embraced. Let em have it out don't let things like that fester. However in his IG rant he said " Get a dam quarterback". https://twitter.com/wfteamjordan/status/1475680067774988302/photo/1 Mr. Payne, I am a fan of your son, I know he's probably not getting the kind of respect in the media he deserves because he is getting overshadowed by Allen. A fantastic example of Payne's worth to me comes at some expense here vs Buffalo in JT O Sullivan's QB school where he's praising Josh Allen as he carved up our secondary. Here JT breaks down like 9-10 plays but in like 90% Payne is almost always the lone guy putting pressure on Allen. I know that probably behind closed doors and around the league though many players and coaches probably believe Payne is better than Allen, that he garners more attention and opens things up for Allen. I don't know, I'm just a fan but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. That being said, your son is on a defense that is on pace to give up the 2nd most points in franchise History. Do we need a QB? How about a defense first. Here's a history lesson for you Mr. Payne and read this with your best reading glasses whether you have a prescription or not. The 2004 Redskins had NO QB. Joe Gibbs first season back in his 2nd tenure, Newly acquired Clinton Portis leading the way with a rookie Sean Taylor. We had a defense under new leadership with Gregg Williams that started only 1 player from the previous season. They went guys like Lemar Marshall, Antonio Pierce, Ryan Clark, Joe Salave'a, Chris Clemons. Most of these guys were role players, street free agents, special teamers few had significant starting experience. We did have guys like Cornelius Griffin, Shawn Springs ( who had 6 sacks and 5 picks that year and didn't get voted into the pro bowl), and Marcus Washington to take care of leadership. Our offense was putrid, it was the kind of offense that would have had you BEGGING for Taylor Heineke. They averaged 15 pts a game, where this team is averaging 20 pts a game. The 2nd WORST offense in franchise history only behind Petitbons '93 team. Yet with all of our problems on offense, that defense went on to put together one of the best seasons I ever witnessed. We only went 6-10 but I watched every game that I could with the same enthusiasm as the season opener because that defense spoke to me, it felt like. They played with so much passion in 2004, they gave up 16 pts per game, the 3rd fewest points in a season in franchise history only behind the '92 team and well all know who Number #1 is in a 16 game season. But for me that 2004 team stuck out much more to me than the '91 team because they fought EVERY DAM WEEK, despite the fact they were on the field much longer than just about every defense that season knowing the offense wasn't going to give them much . Not from a lack of trying, but they didn't care, they busted heads, the flew, they ganged tacked, hyped each other played with a passion that actually had me in tears, FOR A 6-10 team. They never quit, never fought each other on the sidelines and they helped bring Redskins fans back to the stands. I do not get the same feeling watching your son's defense. I see ton of talent on paper, but we've seen good defenses in the past and this one isn't one of them. So before you attack the offense, the QB, the OC anybody not on your sons side of the ball, look in the mirror vent your anger on that side of the ball because while your sons side of the ball may not be the entire problem with this team they certainly aren't being part of the solution. BE QUIET!!!
  10. Agree, see the San Diego Chargers. Set at QB for the next decade at least, and time to fill those other holes vs oh god we need a QB but wait there's maybe a stud edge rusher generational at the top of the board, hope he works out.
  11. How do you do that? To me, this team needs some form of hope at QB, at the same time we need serious bodies. I mrean you gotta address, LB, CB, St.Juste suffered what 3 concussions this season? I mean the kid should think about retiring that's way too many. I mean the only positions I'd leave alone is punter, and the Dline and even then I wouldn't mind DT depth cause we might lose a guy or two this offseason. Mel Kiper says we should go with Matt Corral in the draft. I mean if you wanna hit a home run in the draft I mean in a perfect world you trade back and get picks and get bodies and still land him but that's a tall order. I'm tired of drafting stars, just get me some guys with chips on their shoulders who have no clue what social media is or care about public image and just wanna hit people, make plays and prove doubters wrong.
  12. It drives me insane what Dallas has built in what 2 years on defense what we've been trying to achieve in the last what 4-5 years? It's like what do you have to look forward to with this team. More questions at QB, are we truly set at RB? Is McClaurin even gonna finish his career here? Is that defense ever gonna be what we want it to be? Lucky for me I had to work, and listened to about 5 min of the game on the radio when Dallas scored at the end of the 2nd quarter. Good god, even those crappy Pettibon, spurrier and Zorn teams didn't get blown out like that. I mean for me I've been a fan since '88, I can remember some serious beatdowns that still hurt: 36-6 vs Phoenix in '93, I mean it was Phx, we always dominated them. I remember being 12 and just crying after that game. IT WAS PHOENIX!!!! Might as well throw that Phoenix comeback vs us in '92 where Rypien gave them the game. 45-10 thrashing vs SF on MNF in '98 after Frerotte meltdown vs the Giants in week 1 41-7 vs Minnesota in '98 27-0 vs Dallas AT HOME in '03 that was a real rough one. The first 3 games of Marty's season in 2001 30-3 to SD, 37-0 vs GB and 45-13 vs KC Once the dust settles I'll have a better feeling of where I'll rank this one but it'll be up there. Sure history will say covid, off the field incidents but 56-14 is ugly. I've only seen 2 games where we were in a game where a 50 burger was put up, when we put up 56 vs a Deion Sanders-less Falcons team in '91 and 50 in NY in '99. I just dont get how you go from crazy hopeful at 6-6 a couple of weeks ago to the same feelings we had during the end of the majority of the Gruden seasons.

  14. Dude does he even need to be elite?? If anything he's trustworthy which I dont think is appreciated enough nor has it been seen enough with our QB's. Mac Jones has been given so much praise the past couple months and he's putting up like 22-27 for 220 1 td type stats every week. Basically what Taylor is doing. Let it ride. His escapes he had today were amazing..
  15. Shaka Toney. He plays like that week in, we won't miss Chase for long...
  16. Collins great job today. Secondary awesome Jamin he's growing Shaka Toney, That chase down tackle and then the sack of Wilson. I think we might be ok without Chase for the short while. That run game and time of possession, Scott Turner has a ton of film to look at this week. I'll take the win.
  17. Clearly Wilson's finger is not healed and he rushed to get back on the field, they couldn't even beat Arizona without Murray and DHop. That being said who knows what another week of healing will do for him. We've played Seattle close the last few games. I think we have a great chance to get back to .500 here and vs LV the following week. I wanna see more what our backup DE's can do and more Dax Milne plz, also excited to see Thomas back on the field. Redwolves 26 Kraken 17
  18. Tell that to Terry after the Philly season opener in 2019. We've been there with WR developing. Remember Michael Westbrook. Took him what 5 years and then in '99 it all came together, and then he tore his knee. Of course I could go back to the posse and ask our old school fans who saw their development how it went but it seemed they all hit the ground running when we drafted them.
  19. Knowing Snyder, he probably overpays both and it doesn't work out and it costs us some good players. I think we'd all prefer a product NE is turning out up there with their D being underrated and underappreciated with no big names garnering the spotlight and just producing over hype and lack of production.
  20. He didn't even have 100 total touches in college. His fumbles have got to stop, his production yesterday gives us hope but we don't see enough of it. He still has the hairline fracture right? We'll see, Derrick Henry didn't become the beast is today till what his 4th year, cause he was playing behind Murray his 1st two years and took another season after he had the job to become who he is. If a legit RB falls to us in the draft I don't see why we should pass up on him, but keep letting these guys grow.
