  1. To defend the current decision makers, it wasn’t their plan to go into the season with heinicke… they knew we needed a qb, they got fitz, which just about everyone applauded, but obviously we can’t have nice things… we needed a qb last year and we need one again this year. I wish Watson was a possibility but I imagine the FO is well aware of what a PR nightmare it’d be for this franchise to marry up with him. russ would be excellent but unless we way overpay, I don’t see us in the running. We weren’t on his list of teams for which he’d waive his no-trade clause.
  2. I had to write and delete this many times to avoid a ban… the track record for rookie TEs is atrocious, I still believe in pitts even though he didn’t flash like people hoped. This was the must-make pick for the fanbase and Kyle made it even though, as we already see, there was much better talent available. the rest of the draft was trash. I don’t see any way of giving it a respectable mark. that said, I hated the jamin pick from the start and we’re not looking any better.
  3. We really need to find a way to lose. But as they’ve done the last 4 games, I’m sure they’ll let us down.
  4. IIRC, we played Dallas after they were coming off a Thursday and we were coming off MNF. Then we were going to play the eagles who were coming off a Thursday game. I love that the schedule makers backloaded the divisional games, but the opponents extended rest does seem a bit… unfortunate This is a must win. With the cowboys still 100% healthy and coming off normal rest next week, i don’t see the ray of sunshine for us in that one.
  5. We’ve been kicking the tires on locations for years though. The issue is time. These new state of the art stadiums are 5+ year projects from concept design to completed construction. That’s after all of the land deals have been finalized. I believe the fedex lease expires in 2027… so unless we start moving quick, I don’t see how this timeline works.
  6. I really hoped changing the team name was a play to get us back into DC. Almost like there was a verbal agreement that they’d be allowed back. to hear finlay say it probable that a stadium is built adjacent to FedEx irks me to my core. This teams die hard fanbase is diminishing and they need to try to win over the average DCer who just wants to do something on a Sunday. The caps and nats are an easy metro ride away with things to do/before after. No rando wants to take that long as metro ride and then have to walk a mile to the stadium. I really had hopes that this next stadium would do something to revitalize the franchise.
  7. Yea they spoke on it. Forfeit is the option. echoing others, I’d love if we could field a team and pull off a disneyesque underdog story. If we can indeed field a team, those guys are going to play their tails off.
  8. Do we have the numbers on how many of our 18 players actually tested positive. With how strict the rules are, I’d expect literally the whole team to be under covid protocol if we had that many positives. also, I’m sure Antonio brown wasn’t the only player with a fake card. Given this teams lack of cooperation leading up to the season, I wouldn’t put it past some to also go this route. (This may belong in the conspiracy thread)
  9. Don’t you do it… that’s why I was wondering how many are in covid protocol because they were just close contact. 18 confirmed cases on one team at one time breaks the record by a lot.
  10. I saw some talk about moving the game to accommodate, but Didn’t the NFL already state that no games will be changed due to covid. I only went back a page in this thread, but do we know how many of the now 18 tested positive and who’s just in close contact? Also, who have been vaccinated? The policy is different for all, so there’s a chance that we’re not actually down 18 players on Sunday. if that is indeed the case, you’ll see the first covid forfeit. And if so, boy would I like to be a fly on the wall when Rivera rips into them… he did all he could to prevent this.
  11. Yes, the raiders mismatched renfrow against holcomb. I don’t see any ILBs shutting that down. And on the TD holcomb “gave up” he couldn’t have been in any better coverage. I believe I read that Hudson is out.
  12. Exactly where I am. If the defense keeps Dallas in check then anything is possible for the team this season. Imho, they’re the best offense in the league with studs at just about each position and with the capability of scoring in any fashion. I truly believe our offense is capable of more than what we’ve seen and that turner needs to be better, but at the same time I admit that the grinding clock offense does mesh well with the current production of the defense. my worry is the game when we fall behind early and don’t have the ability to climb back. This matchup on paper feels like it could be the one. the one immeasurable factor we have going is the magic surrounding this group. Some big injuries, some tough matchups, but still finding ways to win. I don’t know if grit will be enough, but this game will show us a lot about the potential of this club.
  13. Dammit I hate this. On paper we should get beat down pretty good. All of the elite talent is on the other sideline, this feels like the final game in the Little Giants. I just don’t know if our grinding, methodical offense can keep this one close. No Logan, maybe no mckissic again… they are just about 100% healthy and we’re down quite a few big names. 31-19 bad guys.
  14. Honestly, not sure about that. Again, I’m not talking about team record, just straight up statistical comparison. He’s currently middle of the pack across the board… we found this in an undrafted no name and you’re still naysaying like he’s no good and we shouldn’t put any stock in him. The kid still has room to grow and has shown enough that he can get the job done but it’s not Brady so it’s not good enough for misterim. Just take a step back and realize there’s room for optimism here.
  15. Cmon man. Have you ever watched a draft or read the scouting on a college player; the analysts list comps. They’re not saying they’re going to be a hall of fame or predict a level of success… that’s all I’m doing here. I haven’t looked but I’d wager Eli never had a statistically top 10 regular season. I say that but I feel like I recall one outlier year where he was good in fantasy. Point is, when it’s debatable, they’re not elite/top 10.
  16. I wouldn’t say Eli was ever top 10. He was closer to Flacco than his brother. two examples above of clutch game managers who have rings. I see heiny fitting right in that mold and I believe his skillset allows for a higher ceiling. Both of them had stellar Ds, so hopefully we can keep improving on that front.
  17. Very fair about the OL, but again this is something that should be figured out by the OC exactly as you explained. An avg OL shouldn’t prohibit Turner from running his full playbook, which is why I think this is just Turner implementing his grinding, low scoring, ToP controlling system. imagine if heiny ran a qb option. He’s athletic, he could rip off chunks. Remember Daniel Jones thrashing us every time… as Ive said for the past few weeks, it all feels so basic, so vanilla. We’re winning, so cheers to that, but i don’t think we would be if the D wasn’t playing phenomenally.
  18. we won a game on short rest, across the country vs a team with extended rest and we lost the turnover battle. It was ugly, but to win vs that type of adversity is rarely witnessed by this fanbase. im a heiny guy, but this wasn’t his best. I really wanted to see him feast vs a bad raiders D. Regardless, on the final drive he turned up the moxie and delivered. That’s the intangible that so many of us have touted. Holcomb is pretty solid in coverage, but we can’t expect him to cover renfrow. At least 3 of renfrows big plays (including the PI) were vs holcomb; this is a matchup we can never even hope to win. this is the kind of scheming that I just don’t see out of turner. Scheming mismatches, picks, QB option, etc. would open up the field so much more. turner is running this offense like Alex smith is still the qb and it’s so frustrating. Run up the gut or 6 yard pass; we don’t run deep routes frequently enough to keep defenses honest.
  19. If turner continues this dink n dunk offense then davante would be a waste. It makes sense why we went after Samuel hard and he’s molded for this scheme. We need ILB and FS… as usual. With Logan going down with the ACL/MCL, a receiving TE could be in order. It’s a key component in this offense.
  20. I was clamoring for the trade up. It was parsons and zilch at ILB… then to go to the cowboys was just gutting. I threw $100 on him winning DROY, so I guess I’ll be content with that consolation prize. It’s not going to be fun watching jamin running around clueless while Micah is wreaking havoc.
  21. 10-4. I don’t think this is cherry picking but looking back since the bye when the team seems to have picked it up, I’d highly doubt we’re bottom of the pack in red zone TD %. I have no stat to back this up as it seems to be an elusive one, but I’m certainly not feeling like we’re constantly settling for FGs or turning it over in the RZ. the thing is that turners offense is a lumbering one, so we’ll have the ball for 4+ minutes, pick up three 1st downs, yet come away with no points… I feel that a lot more than RZ inefficiency.
  22. That’s a big loss. I’m a heiny guy but Logan bailed him out a few times. no Logan, no mckissic, a banged up OL, boy this Dallas game is going to be an uphill battle.
  23. Mine was only filtered by TDs. When taking into account FGs we’re top 10, but I’m with you, I don’t like red zone FGs. point is we’re average at worst in red zone performance.
  24. Hm idk if yours is more current of mine. I have us in 13th at 62.5% https://flurrysports.org/nfl-stats-team-red-zone/
  25. Where are you getting your red zone stats? Everything I see is that we’re above avg in the RZ… the fact that you use words like “horrid” when we’re statistically good says a lot…
