  1. I’m a fan of Taylor and glad he’s getting a real shot here… but let’s be real, the bills are a top 5ish team, great offense, really good d. They have us beat across the board, especially with our D playing as sad as they are. 10 days to prep, so we better come out hot. Still, very difficult to imagine a scenario outside of a perfect storm where we win. 31-20 bad guys.
  2. All I know is we better be studying the **** out of the week 1 Steelers vs Bills tape. 10 days rest, we can’t come out spotting the opponent 7 after the first two drives again. Turner and Del Rio better have a brilliant script cooked up. The front 4 wasn’t stymied last year until the TB game. I seriously wonder if the blueprint is now out there. regardless, chase and sweat need to win and win a lot. They need to be gamechangers; aside from the sweat forced “fumble” in week 1 they’ve been JAGs.
  3. Chase is the leader of this defense and has been arguably our least effective member of the front 4. For a #2 pick with the swag he carries, he needs to be a difference maker. Often. Does he even have a qb hurry so far? Way too many 3rd down passing plays converted because the qb has all day. I said it after the TB game where our front 4 was embarrassed that now the blueprint on how to beat our D is out there… on paper the talent has improved, so part of me thinks this really may be the case. Collins is the glaring hole but this is what many of us expected. When SIP mentioned that collins and curl were playing together in camp I commented about how this is a recipe for disaster. Sure enough, not working. Mccain + curl, do it for the love of god. If the front 4 isn’t going to play like a studs then the defense is average at best. 4 1st rd picks should afford the team the luxury to not have to blitz to generate pressure. Every play one of them should be winning their battles. We’ve faced two really bad OLs and looked like we had backups on the field against them. 10 days to gameplan for the juggernaut offense of the bills. A LOT has to change if we’re going to have any shot.
  4. This was as much of a must-win game 2 as they come. Exciting back and forth game where we came out on top, I couldn’t be happier; especially on prime time vs the giants where our track record is dog ****. ive been a heinecke guy, love that he’s getting his shot and that he stepped up. Big games don’t fold him, ****ing love it. but the defense… my god. I knew we weren’t the top 5 d that we were being touted as, but we’re playing like a barely average unit. This is unacceptable. Our front 4 is really letting us down. This isn’t a teachable issue, this is a talent issue. two games now where we can’t beat below average OLs, this is very concerning. bills next week… something better change on that side of the ball right quick or this will be an ugly one.
  5. I’ve been saying it since the panthers game and very few have been believing. The athletic nerd has what it takes. Goddam if our D was what we hoped it’d be…
  6. What I hated most about this game is that we were outcoached from top to bottom, left to right. I really like Rivera and del rio, very much dislike turner, but they all seemed as unprepared as the next. This can’t happen again. As I’ve posted before, this team as a whole has average+ talent, we need coaching to be excellent in order to beat .500. that being said, we played a very good chargers team, a playoff bound chargers team of healthy. We weren’t blown out, we hung in there, but I’m sick of that being the bar. On defense, if our front 4 doesn’t play to expectations then the D as a whole is nothing special. Hopefully chase specifically bounces back with a monster game on Thursday.
  7. This changes nothing, we’ve all said we’re a .500ish team and today we played exactly like it. I had this one down as a L. a healthy chargers team is a playoff team. Sure we had a chance to win, but we were outplayed for 50+ minutes of the game. Supremely disappointed in Turner, Del Rio, chase, and gibson. Bosa showed us what chase was supposed to be doing. I know a lot here hang their hat on the D, I’ve been hesitant to do so because this is what we’d see if we made the playoffs. Heinecke time baby. I’ve been a truther so I’m excited, just hoping he can stay healthy. on to the next!
  8. 100%, we’ve all been there. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have a dk metcalf/ mike evans/ Dhop, but we don’t need to force it if we don’t have it. im with you on Milne- very relieved to hear he made the cut and I love that he gets to sponge up all humphries has to offer.
  9. @ExoDus84 seriously. The guy could not be more replaceable.
  10. Keim loved making us squirm with his overconfident stance about barber making the team.
  11. No offense, but who cares about a big body? This fanbase has learned this lesson too many times. I’m all about the Chiefs scheme- bunch of fast wrs (all small) and one will break coverage, and if not, throw it to kelce. Not that Logan Thomas is kelce, but he gets the job done.
  12. There’s no proper emoji for this. Pumped about Reyes, not at all pumped about apke. But we know the staff loves versatility. My opinion is that sucking at multiple positions doesn’t = versatile.
  13. So happy to see barber cut, I was worried that the staff had some incomprehensible love for the guy. Now, what’s the deal with carter? With kickoffs essentially eliminated from the game, there’s no justification I’d buy for keeping him over Milne. I love humphries, the dude is seriously talented, but he’s also guaranteed to miss time with some injury. Milne needs to make the squad to backup the slot.
  14. Ah my bad, supposed to be top 16. “Carry on”… you just had to go there!
  15. Way too insightful there. Feel free to offer yours…
  16. No doubt about it, turner got dealt a tough hand for season 1. Now, year 2, with upgrades mostly all around, the cumulative talent on this offense is at least average, so the success or failure is on him.
  17. Agreed. I actually think we’re right about average, maybe slightly above in terms of offensive talent. So barring any injuries or extreme deviations from the avg, I’m looking at turner as the reason for the offense’s eventual success or failure. QB- top 20 WRs- top 16 RB- top 12 TE- top 10 OL- top 16 These ratings are my opinion and obviously debatable. With fantasy football drafts kicking off I have all team depth charts and stats/projections tidied up in a spreadsheet, so there’s a method behind the madness.
  18. It felt almost vanilla. It wasn’t quite as bad as gruden, but we really seemed to telegraph if the play would be run or pass. We lacked playmakers and weren’t going to beat teams based on pure talent so I felt we needed creativity in order to run a successful offense, but I saw none of that. We had a wr turned rb in the backfield, who was a freak in open space, yet we didn’t scheme to get him there. Judging by what I saw, I was disappointed, but… big but, this was a new coaching staff implementing a new offense with a coach receiving treatment for cancer during a Covid offseason combined with the leagues worst qb play. So, I give him the pass.
  19. Monday morning Debbie downer here. We won the division at 7-9. It’s a bit much for some here to dismiss the other teams like we’re the obvious top dogs. We’re not. the way I see it, each time is .500ish, so this will be a fun division race. eagles are a crapshoot, giants get saquan back, cowboys get dak back, bolstered the D and brought in a really good DC. we can win the division, but it’s imperative that Turner be MUCH better. Absolutely hated him last year, but he gets a pass because he had awful qbs to work with.
  20. Duke johnson is a poor man’s mckissic. we’re looking for a backup to AG, this is not the guy for the job. Agree about gurley, the guy has proven to be the furthest thing from durable. I feel for the guy, he was looking like something special.
  21. Agreed, but my issue is that there are better RBs than barber available at this moment. I just can’t understand why is our coaching staff in love with barber? I trust and agree with almost all of their personnel moves, but this I can’t comprehend.
  22. Agree with all of your post other than this as it literally describes all three of our qbs to a T. that etienne pick made me want to yack. They found the diamond in the rough in Robinson then wasted a 1st round pick on the same position when the team had holes everywhere but WR. Terrible.
  23. Very true. Off the top of my head I’m struggling to think of one wr who fixed butterhands at the pro level. My only reason for optimism here is that I don’t recall this being a knock on him coming in (which could just be due to me not doing enough due diligence on an undraftedFA), so there’s a chance it was just big game jitters that snowballed into a mental thing, which could potentially be fixable? it couldn’t be a smaller sample size, but the catch he made last week was textbook. holy **** I’m a glass half-full guy.
  24. I’m really rooting for Steve sims. The guy is just so damn quick that he’s borderline uncoverable on quick hitters. Hearing that he’s working overtime on the jug machine shows me a lot. I’ve been a fan since he broke out in the preseason game when all eyes were on Cam. I hated what he did to this team last year with his hand issues, but if he’s really cleaning it up then he will be a starting caliber wr. The wr cut will be a tough one. I don’t think cam, Steve, or dax are safe on the practice squad and I only see two of the three them making the team (AGG to the PS). @Skinsinparadise to circle back to darnold, I couldn’t be happier that we avoided him; I thought darnold was horrible and I was truly worried when we were linked. That being said, Adam gase was the worst head coach. By a longshot. Darnold didn’t show me one reason for optimism, but I’m very curious to see what he can do in a different system with a good coach. This will be a good case study.
