The whole point is that this would be a very expensive 5th year option. It is inflated given his draft position and his DROY/Pro Bowl accelerating that amount
-
Sure but my point that I should have made clearer is no one is better than Roseman at optimizing draft capital to get “a lot of shots on goal.” It allows them to draft a year or two ahead vs drafting to catch up, which we have had to every draft until this current one in which we can finally now focus on taking BPAs

The Giants basically treaded water in FA. Picked up a washed up Waller but lost Julian Love, the best player in their back 7. They added no WRs of note and lost Richie James. Saquon is going to hold out of offseason activities and Lawrence may present issues if he does not get extended. I think they surprised everyone early in the season running Daniel Jones so much and their 2nd half record was not very good

I wonder if part of it is due to coaching. His OL coach the past couple years was a guy who was at San Diego State his whole career. If he truly is a hard worker who loves football, given he has the physical tools, what is stopping him from developing the pass pro?

I'd actually love to trade down a couple times and grab at least 2 3rd round picks and perhaps a Day 3 pick or two. If we have 6 picks in the first four rounds to work with, we can solve a ton of holes at positions of need with the depth there appears to be. I think we can grab a tackle, center, tight end, corner, linebacker and EDGE. Some of these guys could sit for a year but provide quality depth and start in 2024. With 4-5 picks in rounds 5 and beyond, you could grab your no. 3 QB, your receiving scat back, backup to Curl, perhaps another LB and a kicker to challenge Slye. Post draft, you could be in a position to let Roullier, Norwell and Thomas go. You would also be in a position to potentially let Leno, Fuller and either Sweat or Young depart because you would have young replacements on rookie deals to fill those gaps.

If there is a run on tackles and Skoronski, Johnson, Wright, Harrison and B. Jones are all off the board by the early 20s, Bergeron certainly has a good chance of sneaking into the late 1st if a team sees him as someone who could start at tackle at some point during the year. I agree though that he is likely an early 2nd who is not going to be there at 47.
-
Paulsen and others keep hinting at this but Bergeron seems to be the best value pick. He is consistently mocked in the 2nd; however, like Tyler Smith last year, I wonder if someone takes him toward the end of the first.. Consensus seems to be that he is a really good run blocker who is inconsistent in pass protection. If he improves on the latter, he is a starting tackle in the league. There is probably a path for him where he starts at LG as a rookie and eventually moves to one of the tackle spots as he improves his technique.

There seems to be some smoke about how much Dawand Jones loves football. Logan Paulsen hinted at it on a recent Take Command pod and the OSU beat guy who was on JP’s pod mentioned that his first love is basketball and he still wasn’t over being a future pro bball player early on during his OSU tenure and that he didn’t commit to football fully early on

I could see Harris liking EB. If EB is known for one thing, it is being an absolute stickler when it comes to details

Listening to David Aldridge and others who have commented on what Josh Harris is like as an owner, I have come to the conclusion Ron & co are ****ed. The consistent message is that Harris is very data and analytics oriented and will dig deep on the why behind suggestions and proposals. For a guy like Ron who is weak in these areas, that’s going to be a non starter for Harris. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Harris hire a GM in the mold of the Vikings GM or Roseman, a high IQ business guy who has been embedded in football operations for a long time. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the guy he chooses is a Roseman lieutenant…a long time ago, he hired Hinkie who was a Morey lieutenant

For Olave, there is an argument to be made that his stats were a bit inflated as he was the Saints’ only legit target. -
If you guys remember, the wife seemed trashy, hitting Haskins publicly while she was drunk in Vegas a couple years ago. Not surprising coming from her.

I use it. Works better than Gatorade for me personally -
PFF's Mike Renner was saying that this year's RB class crushes last year's. He said he had 13 backs with pretty high grades

I hope they don’t use a Day 1 or Day 2 pick on a backup hybrid safety. Use a pick round 5 and beyond on one
-
They loved Tyler Smith and were hoping he’s drop to their 2nd round pick. They also supposedly liked Davis-Price a lot and would’ve supposedly taken him if he’d been there in the 3rd w the comp pick
-
On Keim’s point, you could just get another off ball LB and have Jamin rush the passer more. It’s his special skill

From what I gather on Chase, they are frustrated with him on many fronts: - Skipped offseason workouts everyone else attended - Was doing his rehab away from the team - Did not play within the scheme in 2021 - Did not come back fast enough from the injury (remember Ron getting frustrated with Chase's delay last season, consistently emphasizing that his knee was physically sound) - The overpromising in 2021 Separately, I have heard second hand that he frequently comes to the facility smelling like weed. It's obvious to me that this guy does not have the maturity of the type of guy who is going to consistently be one of the best at his position. I'd exercise his option because I think the realistic downside scenario is they can still trade him for a Day 2 pick if he has a solid season given his pedigree (even if it means eating some of his 2024 salary). It would suck to lose him for 0 value This franchise has had the worst luck with #2 overall picks with the two other guys taken at that slot in the Snyder era being early flash in the pans and then flaming out in Lavar and RG3.
