I think you are remembering Fuller now but not remembering the Fuller from the first half of 2021 and first half of 2022 who got smoked on the regular. I became a BSJ fan early last season when they played the Eagles the first time and he played competently against Brown and Smith. The tools are absolutely there with the smarts, the size, the length and the elite quickness for a man his size, which allows him to play in the slot. With better coaching from a real secondary coach (not a guy JDR scooped up from a high school), I think that guy can help BSJ build his confidence so that he doesn’t have to be as grabby and he does a better job looking back for picks. You guys have to remember that he didn’t actually play a lot of college football given the injuries he dealt with at Michigan

I think you could probably trade one of two 2nds for Pitts or Mayer given the changes in front offices for those franchises. Given TE tends to be a position with a steep learning curve, I’d rather do that. Maybe the Raiders throw in Moehrig too and we solve our FS problem

Zero interest in Queen. We already have him in Jamin Davis. Didn't realize Jordyn Brooks was a FA. Good news for us is there are going to be a lot of quality green dot LBs in free agency. Depending on scheme, my top guy to get there is Luvu. He should have been a Pro Bowler last year and I would be surprised if he misses it this year. My theory is you need 5-6 blue chip players to seriously compete and he would be a guy who would check the box if he is allowed to rush the passer a fair amount.

Actually to that end, one thing Mac is very good at is getting rid of the ball quickly unlike our guy who holds the ball. If I had my druthers, we should draft a tackle with the 1st round pick. (Side note: I would trade a late Day 3 pick for Mac or do a pick swap. I would rather have him as the backup QB at $3M vs Brissett at $8M. The difference in salary is a starting a LB)

You do but I think we have replacements already on the roster. Ridgeway and Mathis can take over the NT position and Payne can play the three tech and spend more time rushing the passer vs eat double teams. You can use the $9M in cap space and the Day 2 pick you’d get to pull in a couple quality starters BSJ is less of a playmaker than Kendall but is the better player in my opinion. Out of the two, he is better able to challenge #1 receivers and can also play the nickel. Kendall is also old. He is a guy I would, for sure, look to extend. I think, with better coaching, he’ll figure out how to be less handsy

Agreed. A couple points to make: 1) If you sell picks this year that results in 2025 picks, you also have extra ammo at the deadline to add veterans for a stretch run. The Eagles did this again this year for Byrd. 2) While we have Sam on the cheap for the next two years, I would like to make veterans on minimum or cheap contracts a greater percentage of the depth than guys on rookie contracts in 2024. Why? We can afford it and having cheap vets like Larsen and Danny Johnson as depth allows them to step in and do more than a guy on a rookie deal. Second, if you move some of the 2024 picks for picks that ultimately hit in 2025 and 2026, you get the guys on rookie contracts just starting their contracts when Sam starts to become more expensive and you are in greater need of cheap production

He is 6-3 and has about 34.5" inch arms, which are legitimate NFL tackle arms. He sucked in 2021 and got benched before having a strong 2022. Need to dig into why that happened (did he just figure it out or was it schematic?) and how he can fit cleanly here. I think he is going to be cheaper than Jonah Williams who I am not interested in

The Shanahans did this too here. They focused on hiring young bright coaches who would bring their perspective and challenge them vs being yes men, hence why that staff makes up 20% of all HC jobs in the league today

I agree with most of this. He is coming off a season he just had a top 10 defense in. He is not a dinosaur - what he has done is provide ****ty input to his personnel people because I think he has a big say in who we draft and sign in free agency (Forbes and Martin as examples) and hire ****ty position coaches under him. He has made his own bed and he needs to go. I know the Giants are struggling this year but one thing I admire about Daboll is that he was willing to hire a bunch of assistant coaches he had never worked with before like Kafka, Wink, etc. His goal was to pull together a staff of some of the sharpest minds. I hope the next HC is willing to do the same thing vs hire a bunch of cronies like his son's high school coach like JDR did with Visselmeyer

Does anyone understand the system Ben Johnson runs? He has worked under a number of offensive minds from different backgrounds. Tough to obviously pin him down

What Sheehan and Keim pointed out is that they started with the zone match scheme and have paused that for the most part because the players were not picking it up. They are apparently playing a lot of man now

Because there is no one else who can take over for him. This is possibly the worst set of defensive coaches we've had during my time following this team as a fan and that includes the Shanahan and Gruden defenses. We plucked our DB coach from the high school ranks, our DL coach was plucked off the scrap heap as an assistant DL coach after being out of football for a year and our LB coach probably has the most legit background of any of these guys as a coach but he is a guy who spent 2 years in the NFL before coming here.

No thank you to Belichick. It feels like Tampa is a lot more likely anyway given the Jason Licht connection. Still a solid roster there still even though it is aging. Maybe Bill can attract Kirk to come there

Please please please He was very promising as a rookie before fading a bit. He's a more traditional third down back than Gibson and could potentially serve in that role next year.
