  2. This sounds like a rebuild is right thing to do. NBA I thought was cracking down on "resting" players...how much he making to only play half a season? And who's to say that will ensure he's healthy for the playoffs? Zion has missed to playoffs in a row. At some point it was it is...some folks jus aren't reliable enough to invest but so much resources and expectations in. First step in getting out of a hole is to stop digging.
  3. If I were the clipper I’d seriously consider playing kawhi half a season. Just sit out most of the first 32 games and the final ten games. I’d try anything to get him into the playoffs healthy. They have no assets and the team is old. They have to get whatever they can out of him before his knee turns to dust. and who would have though his best years were over in that raptors championship? You really can never be sure of anything.
  4. Coleman is going to be interesting for sure. I’m curious about your lack of confidence though - he seems to have some good things going for him - production, size, athleticism. For Sainristil, love everything I’ve heard/seen, but don’t love the value of a slot corner there. As you suggest, if he’s as good as advertised/expected, don’t think we’ll care about draft slot in the end. With McCaffrey, I think him being new to the position makes it hard to know where he’s going to end up as a finished product, but his family pedigree suggests we could see a lot of hard work/improvement from him. His quickness, coupled with solid size (and room to fill out a bit), quality hands, and running ability are a nice baseline of traits. Surprising how many of these guys are relatively new to their positions, and similar to McCaffrey, the combo of intangibles (earning them captaincies) and high end athleticism ups the chances at seeing a good amount of growth from them.
  5. Houston area facing 'catastrophic' flood conditions as severe weather pummels Texas The Houston area is bracing for "catastrophic" flooding Friday as severe downpours and extreme weather pummel parts of Texas. Harris County's Office of Emergency Management moved to its highest activation level Friday morning in anticipation of the imminent flooding, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo told reporters during a news conference. Hidalgo warned residents that the forecast has changed as heavy rains have already fallen in northern Polk County and will make their way to Harris County sooner than expected. 6. An AI tool used in thousands of criminal cases is facing legal challenges Law enforcement agencies and prosecutors from Colorado to New York have turned to a little-known artificial intelligence tool in recent years to help investigate, charge and convict suspects accused of murder and other serious crimes. But as the software, called Cybercheck, has spread, defense lawyers have questioned its accuracy and reliability. Its methodology is opaque, they’ve said, and it hasn’t been independently vetted. The company behind the software has said the technology relies on machine learning to scour vast swaths of the web and gather “open source intelligence” — social media profiles, email addresses and other publicly available information — to help identify potential suspects’ physical locations and other details in homicides and human trafficking crimes, cold cases and manhunts. The tool’s creator, Adam Mosher, has said that Cybercheck’s accuracy tops 90% and that it performs automated research that would take humans hundreds of hours to complete. By last year, the software had been used in nearly 8,000 cases spanning 40 states and nearly 300 agencies, according to a court decision that cited prosecutors in a New York case that relied on the tool. In the New York case, a judge barred authorities from introducing Cybercheck evidence last year after having found that prosecutors hadn’t shown that it was reliable or well-accepted, the decision shows. In another ruling last year, an Ohio judge blocked a Cybercheck analysis when Mosher refused to disclose the software’s methodology. “We’re being asked to trust a company to present evidence that could eventually put people in prison,” said William Budington, a senior staff technologist with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a civil liberties group. “That goes against the right to due process.” In a motion filed last month in a fatal robbery in Akron, Ohio, defense lawyers representing two defendants charged with murder demanded that Mosher provide the software’s proprietary code and algorithm. In the April 10 filing, the lawyers also made an alarming series of allegations: Mosher lied under oath about his expertise and made false claims about when and where the technology has been used. Donald Malarcik, one of the defense lawyers who filed the motion, said in an email that it was “shocking” that prosecutors continued to rely on Mosher as an expert. Mosher didn’t respond to a detailed list of questions about Malarcik’s comments or the filing. Click on the link for the full article
  7. Wow that Stars/Golden Knights game was wild, it could have easily been 5-4, instead Vegas survived 2-0 with an empty net goal at the end. Dallas couldn't finish. Oh well. 2-2 for the day, 5-5 on the week. Three picks for Saturday to close out the week: Orioles -120. Ride the hot team, they are better top to bottom than the Reds. Reds have tons of speed, they don't hit for average well (.218 on the year). Means' first start of the season, I think he will give us five solid innings. Our bullpen has been pitching much better. This is the lock of the day. Dodgers -170, yes gotta pay a little extra juice for Glasnow. I think he will win the NL Cy Young. Mariners +120, Gilbert is an ace, Astros lineup is not exactly imposing right now.
  8. You might be onto something there. I'm not saying Fields is a guaranteed success, but he does offer them a chance to adopt an elite ground-and-pound style of play.
  9. All QBs these days, except for Goff, are dual threats—props to him for bucking the trend and excelling as a pure pocket passer. Elite dual-threat QBs come in all shapes, sizes, and speeds, just like RBs and WRs. Howell's got some serious rushing skills, running a 4.8 or 4.9. But let's be real, a QB with a 4.3 is a freak athlete at that position. Comparing those guys to Daniels and trying to confine him to a specific mold is just not fair. None of them, except for Allen (who's a bit out of place in this discussion), have ever rushed for 400 yards. Do we really want Daniels to mirror Prescott, Herbert, and Love, who each barely hit 200 rushing yards in entire seasons? Let's look at Love, Herbert, and Dak's playoff performances. Herbert has a subpar winning record, while Love hovers around .500 for their careers. Just imagine the criticism Jackson would face if he didn't maintain a 70% winning record during the regular season. It's a bit ironic, isn't it? Playoffs are difficult, ask Rodgers, the best QB I’ve seen in 20 plus years watching. Daniels isn't really in the same category as those other quarterbacks you mentioned. He doesn’t at all appear to identify with the dudes you’re listing. He seems focused on becoming an elite passer while also setting his sights on breaking rushing records held by the likes of Vick, Newton, Jackson, Fields, and Cunningham. He's even voiced his ambition to surpass their achievements on the ground. Daniel’s isn’t the number two overall pick if he wasn’t an elite runner. Peters: “Take the souls of a defense” Daniels: ”Turn on the Florida tape” The QB position continues to evolve, with athleticism becoming increasingly crucial. This trend has been noticeable over the past 15 seasons, and it's a topic I've been discussing for over a decade. While there will always be varying degrees of athleticism and approaches, the baseline expectation for QBs to create, extend plays, and gain rushing yards has been steadily rising.
  10. Look at this little guy strut around with his chest out like he wish you would.
  11. I would have pulled Luka 5 mins ago. Rest him up limping around the court.
  12. They’re also playing without their third leading scorer, Tim Hardaway Jr. Sounds like they expect him back soon though.
  13. If the Clippers disappeared tomorrow would anyone notice?
  14. Fields start and Tomlin has his first losing. If Russ is done, Steelers won’t be winning if they have to rely on Fields. If Russ is cooked, Steelers will be looking for a new qb in 2025 and likely under a new coach.
  15. Harden looks totally checked out. Hasn't even looked to shoot in quite a while. And now the lead is near 20. Harden gonna Harden; Clippers gonna Clipper
  16. I had the Mavs as my dark horse after the Wolves but Luka does seem to be bothered by his knee.
  17. Mavericks look good. I didn’t really believe they had picked it up on defense, but they’ve certainly shown in this series. OKC might be in for a fight.
