Boss_Hogg
Phillip Daniels, who re-joined the Redskins last year as director of player development, is no longer with the organization, a source says. The WaPo has more: After one season as , Phillip Daniels is no longer with the Washington Redskins, two people with knowledge of the situation said.Daniels, who played for Washington from 2004 to 2010, rejoined the team last season and served as a mentor to players and also worked to help players continue their education if they had left school early. One person with knowledge of the situation said that Daniels wanted to get into coaching, but that he wasn’t going to get that opportunity with the Redskins. The Redskins now must fill three positions on Mike Shanahan’s staff: receivers coach, special teams coach and now director of player development. Conn
Don't blame him for wanting to coach. It's unfortunate that such a good guy, who made all the right choices in his career, will no longer be a positive influence on our young guys. But I wish him luck! Don't blame him for following his passion.

SkinsCrushCowboys
Dang, Big Phil is a quality guy and I hope he gets an opportunity to coach. Maybe somewhere near his son at ND. He is the type of guy that the Redskins need to have around to influence these young players. Good luck PD!
No_Pressure
It's too bad there wasn't a place for him here. I think everyone loves Phillip Daniels and I believe Phillip Daniels likes it here. I hope he does a great job wherever he ends up coaching. He seems like the type of guy who could get a team motivated.
terpskins10
That's interesting because two years ago when he was released, Shanahan DID offer him a coaching job. The team cut the then-38-year old Daniels prior to the start of the 2011 training camp, but Coach Mike Shanahan offered the veteran a spot on his coaching staff. Daniels declined at the time, hoping to catch on with another team, but never did. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/post/redskins-hired-phillip-daniels-as-director-of-player-development/2012/02/17/gIQA1LcLKR_blog.html
Gibbs Hog Heaven
Good luck big man in the next stage of your career. Who's knows, you may well end up back at your spiritual home yet sometime in the not too distant future. :fingersx: Hail.

skinsfan4128
I hate to see PD go as I liked his positive work in player development, but I can't fault the man at all for wanting to reach higher career goals. I wonder why Shanny couldn't find a spot for Daniels given we've seen the likes of Hilliard at WR coach (first time to the best of my knowledge). Perhaps it was simply a situation where the coaching staff was full at the positions that Shanny felt PD could contribute. Regardless, I wish PD the best in his future endeavors and he'll always be a Redskin in my book. :point2sky
SemperFi Skins
Good dude, hopefully he keeps in touch with the 'Skins organization. I'd love to see his son DaVaris Daniels end up in the Burg and Gold in a couple years. Dude's a beast at WR for Notre Dame.
Gart Monk
I had been under the impression that PD was anxious to upgrade the strength/conditioning department. I remember him being very concerned about the WSH program vs CHI's much superior program. 93 is a good dude. He will be missed.
BRAVEONTHEWARPATH93
You can only be around all that for so long without wanting to get more involved (i.e. coaching). Hopefully someone gives him a shot (not in the NFC East)

SkinsTillIDie
good catch. it seems like he snoozed on an opportunity when it was available before. Hopefully he catches on somewhere - in a place that he's happy. Wouldn't be surprised if it was just a coaching internship or something obscenely low-level. Daniels probably needs to go prove himself in the college ranks and work his way up the ladder.
DogofWar1
A great guy, and I hope he finds and gets everything he wants moving forward (not in the NFC East though, as some have said). Danny... Bruce... it's time to give ole' number 28 a call. That, or if the Highlander finally hangs it up I could see him as a reasonable guy for the job. He certainly has the character for it. BringEmBacktoDC
It will be interesting to see how this story breaks month's from now. PD seems to be a very standup guy. I am sure he is doing this for the right reasons for himself and his family. I wish it had worked out longer for the Skins, but hopefully this will really work out for PD.
