No Nonsense
Mariah Carey Cher Ozzy Osbourne Mary J Blige Eric B and Rakim Peter Frampton Kool and the Gang Sade Jane's Addiction Oasis Sinead O'Connor Tribe Called Quest Lenny Kravitz Dave Matthews Band Foreigner Probably my biggest gripe is Sinead O'Connor. I know she recently died, but she's not a hall of famer. Someone needs to remind whoever votes on this about Barry White.

GoDeep81
Never knew Ozzy wasn't in the hall. Hell, Im surprised most of the names on that list aren't already in. Should add Boston and Bad Company to the list. (and many more) The hall is kindof a joke imo)

Captain Wiggles
Top of that batting order looks soft. Only one heavy hitter in the first four and the leadoff hitter is a seasonal player at best. Pshaw. They ain't no Brooklyn Tip Tops that's for sure 🤪 Edited March 5 by Captain Wiggles

My thoughts on if they are HOF worthy: -Mariah Carey Maybe, probably -Cher Nah -Ozzy Osbourne Abso-****ing-lutely, why is he NOT in already? -Mary J Blige Um...don't think so? -Eric B and Rakim Um...don't think so? -Peter Frampton Eh -Kool and the Gang Nah -Sade Nah -Jane's Addiction Um...don't think so? -Oasis Um...don't think so? -Sinead O'Connor Nah -Tribe Called Quest Um...don't think so? -Lenny Kravitz Nah -Dave Matthews Band Nah -Foreigner Nah--well, maybe...I dunno lol KEY: Abso-****ing-lutely = Self-explanatory Maybe, probably = I think less of this artist than most but acknowledge they probably deserve entry Eh = Don't have an opinion one way or the other Nah = I don't see why they deserve being in the R&R HOF over a multitude of others, even though I may really like their music Um...don't think so? = Don't know nearly enough about this artist but still believe my opinion of them matters one iota lol... . You have to realize that rock n roll expands a wide variety of music. But since you only think "rock" bands should be in, how can you give Foreigner a ""nah--well maybe?" They should have been in years ago. 1

And I can't think of a single reason why Foreigner "should" be in the HOF. What exactly did they do that was any different from dozens of other acts out there that aren't in--or have never even been nominated for--the HOF? The only thing that really made me say "well, maybe" was that they've established themselves enough to be in the classic rock annals of rock history. Fergasun
So, Platinum / Gold are obvious constructs of the countries they are in. So I went and looked at the album's for some of these artists. I might update this later with the remaining ones. Clearly I'm using something like sports statistics to measure their worthiness. Frampton 2 Platinum Albums, 1 Gold Album (1 Platinum is a live album) Foreigner 6 Platinum Albums (0 Platinum are live) Dave Matthews Band 13 Platinum Albums, 2 Gold (6 of their Platinum are Live albums) Lenny Kravitz 4 Platinum Albums, 5 Gold Albums (0 for live albums) Tribe Called Quest 3 Platinum Albums, 3 Gold Albums (0 for live albums) Sinead O'Connor 1 Platinum Album, 5 Gold Albums (0 for her live album) Oasis 8 Platinum Albums (all 7 of their studio albums and 1 of their live albums) Jane's Addiction 2 Platinum Album, 1 Gold Album (0 for any live album) Ozzy (as a Solo artist) I think Sabbath is already in the RR HoF? 11 Platinum Albums, 2 Gold (3 live Albums are Platinum) Based on this I'd say the tier list (from top being most deserving): Ozzy Oasis Dave Matthews Foreigner Obviously I kind've weight studio as more important than live. The other debate would be that every single Oasis album went platinum. Was it better to have a shorter, brighter career? I actually don't think so. when it comes to music.

And Alt Rock was started in the late 70s, before Jane's Addiction was even formed (had to look up when they were formed lol...but I knew it wasn't the 70s). I'm hoping you're not thinking Alternative Rock wasn't started until the 90s. 1 minute ago, Captain Wiggles said: So then ya just ****posting to slander the greatness that is Foreigner? In that case I can trace Alt Rock back, at least its influences to ****ing Beethoven. 🤪 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_rock#:~:text=The use of the term, recontextualize sounds of the past. Quote The use of the term alternative to describe rock music originated around the mid-1980s; at the time, the common music industry terms for cutting-edge music were new music and postmodern, respectively indicating freshness and a tendency to recontextualize sounds of the past. A similar term, alternative pop, emerged around 1985.[15] 1985? Oh thr same year JANES ADDICTION was formed. Coincidentally am sure. 🤣

But apparently from my admittedly flimsy Google search just now, the term "Alternative music" was being used in 1979 for this stuff. But I do remember the Talking Heads being called "alternative" when I started college in 1981...so there lol.
