On all that's holy, please make the radio guys here in Atlanta stop jizzin' all over the possibility of acquiring Kirk Cousins.  🙄

Let them aquire him, only to be disappointed when he lets them down.

As the first round of the NFL Draft approached, the sign in front Dilworth Neighborhood Grille had a message directed toward the owner of its hometown Carolina Panthers.

“Please Let The Coach & GM Pick This Year," it read.

If the NFL expands, I can see a realignment to 6 teams with 6 divisions again and 36 teams.

Though frankly, 32 teams is the right number.  Just move the weaker franchises to other markets.

As for international expansion, not going to happen.  You aren't going to get players who will have to spend about half the year living in a foreign country.

Since the NFL will eventually expand to 18 games, that will give everyone 9 homes games and 9 road games.   You can take that 9th game and make it international. Every team will have to play one international game.  England and Germany would get the bulk of the games but you can sprinkle other countries in there like they do now.  Have those international  games from Week 3 to Week 17; so the first 2 weeks and last 2 weeks of season are USA only.  You can create a TV package of international games only.

Speaking of 18 games, it's happening. The owners want it and they will eventually get it.  What will they have to do to get players to agree?  Roster expansion, a second bye week seems likely.  I think the players would use leverage to get free agency shaved by a year and maybe the draft reduced by a round or two. Players would rather be free to sign, then being forced to go somewhere.

18 week season with 2 byes, over 20 weeks. Season from Labor Day to President's Day.  You'd have one bye in the first 9 weeks and the second bye in the last 9 weeks.

The current tv contract runs into the early 30's but the nfl has an out clause in 2029.  I'd expect an 18 game season, sooner than later..

>>>The NFL’s 2024 schedule was finally released in its totality on Wednesday night. It's an amazingly and intricately designed compromise, one that literally requires multiple millions of hours of super-computing (and some human) input, aimed at satisfying as many parties with disparate priorities as possible – owners, networks, fans, et al. – despite the fact that every team’s 2024 opponents were locked in at the conclusion of the 2023 regular season. And the variables for an ever-evolving process only continue to increase – from an expanding list of broadcast partners to more international obligations, to added emphasis on holiday windows like Christmas (even mid-week, like this year) and Black Friday … and, in all likelihood, the eventual addition of an 18th regular-season game.<L<<

Some of Nate's ideas are good.  The Cup idea is stupid though.

Expanding the playoffs to 16 teams and at the same time half a draft bowl with the other 16 non-playoff teams is a good idea.  For the non-playoff teams, you will have to earn the right to get that top draft pick.   It will give teams out of the playoffs, some thing to shoot for.

With an eventual 18 game season, I've said that every team would be required one neutral site game:

It would be an 18 game season over 20 weeks, since their would be 2 byes.

Since every team would get a neutral site game, that's 32 potential games.

I'd have 13 in London, 13 in Germany, 2 in other international sites and 4 in other neutral sites in the US like Orlando, Portland, San Antonio, etc...

A network like Amazon or Netflix, etc... can bid on those games.
