d0ublestr0ker0ll
Damn. Dude was so quick and elusive. Precursor to the Marcus Allen/Barry Sanders type. RIP.

Jumbo
in was in my late teens when brian's song came out, and i loved that movie, but i'd long been a fan of sayers---two all time fave rbs for me were gale sayers and barry sanders for the fluidity and grace and speed and reaction-time and decision-making...loved watching that combo of traits more unique to them then to many of their contemporaries (at least that's how it seemed to me as a young fan back in the day)...and sayers seemed like such a great guy off the field rip mr.sayers and thank you
goskins10
Very sad news indeed. I was 10 when Brian's Song came out but it had a profound impact on me. I was just a few years into my football interest. The relationship and loyalty the two had struck me. I was a little too young to remember watching Gale run much in games but I remembered the name when the movie came out. A truly gifted athlete but also an amazing man. I am fortunate enough to have an autographed copy of My Life and Times (My ex-girlfriend got it for me - long story). Great book! What a sad day. All the best to his family. TradeTheBeal!
Some of my most treasured childhood memories are of watching Gale Sayers highlights with my father on the old Super 8 projector circa 1977 or so. Had a little cry about it this morning. Rest In Peace to the great one. #18inchesofdaylight

DCranon21
If the Bears didn't have such a ****ty team during his tenure and injuries, he would have at least seen the playoffs in his career. RIP
