Last time there were two successive different winners was 1986-1987. National League absolutely owned from like 1960-1985, they won all but three. I suspect the Giants will lock him up though as the feeling has been mutually good between them and the Giants have little payroll committed beyond 2022. I just can't imagine giving a 30yo Judge anything more than 5 years. His productivity is likely going to crash hard at 34 or 35. I'm sure the Giants will go hard for him since he's a local and grew up a Giants fan..but I think it's buyer beware with him. I'd rather have had Soto. Looking at roster construction… Cashman seems to be veering toward team defence and pitching… and timely hitting. I know they’re the Bronx Bombers this year (1st overall)… but Judge and Russo (opt out) will be gone next year. Of course, the Yanks have been known to outbid themselves… like they did when they resigned Pettite, Rodriguez, Sabathia, Jeter. But Cashman has been a tightwad for a long while now… only caving for Cole. And there’s already some buyers remorse there already. I can’t believe he’s already offered 7-year term.
