70 Vomiting Passengers Turn Frankfurt Flight Into Living Hell

When you get on a plane, there are plenty of things that you can reasonably expect may go wrong. The person in front of you might recline their seat and drape their long hair over the screen. A baby might cry. Your seatmate might be one of those sick freaks who takes their socks and shoes off. Heck, you could even encounter some terrible turbulence. Then there are the things you could never expect, like 70 passengers all getting sick with the same stomach bug and turning your flight into the puke tube from hell.

The Daily Mail reports that a large number of passengers aboard Condor Airlines Flight DE2315 from Mauritius to Frankfurt all appeared to have caught the same stomach bug. With only a couple of bathrooms available and 70 passengers desperately needing to puke their guts out, you can only imagine how horrible the rest of the flight was. Apparently, though, they were close enough to their destination that they simply kept going until they arrived in Frankfurt where emergency personnel were already gathered to treat the sick passengers.

If you go on a cruise, you have to know there’s a risk of a norovirus or COVID outbreak, but at least on a cruise, you can just stay in your cabin and vomit in peace. On a plane, though, while it’s possible that one or two passengers might get sick, you really don’t expect half the plane to spew their lunch everywhere.

A spokesperson for Condor Airlines confirmed to Germany’s Bild that the incident did occur and noted that if there was something wrong with the food, it would have originated in Mauritius. That said, they still claimed not to know exactly what went wrong.

US airlines are suing the Biden administration over a new rule to make certain fees easier to spot

U.S. airlines are suing to block the Biden administration from requiring greater transparency over fees that the carriers charge their passengers, saying that a new rule would confuse consumers by giving them too much information during the ticket-buying process.

The U.S. Transportation Department said Monday it will vigorously defend the rule against what it called “hidden junk fees.”

American, Delta, United and three other carriers, along with their industry trade group, sued the Transportation Department in a federal appeals court on Friday, asking the court to overturn the rule.

The trade group, Airlines for America, said the Transportation Department is going beyond its authority by attempting “to regulate private business operations in a thriving marketplace.” The airlines said the administration hasn’t shown that consumers can’t get information about fees already.

“Airlines go to great lengths to make their customers knowledgeable about these fees,” Airlines for America said Monday. “The ancillary fee rule by the Department of Transportation will greatly confuse consumers who will be inundated with information that will only serve to complicate the buying process.”

The Transportation Department announced the new rule on April 24. It would require airlines and travel agents to disclose upfront any charges for baggage and canceling or changing a reservation. Airlines must show the fees on the first website page where they quote a price for a flight.

The agency estimated that the rule will save consumers more than $500 million a year.

Climate activists glue themselves to Munich airport runway

Munich Airport faced significant disruption on Saturday morning when climate activists from the Last Generation movement breached the grounds and glued themselves to a runway in protest against climate policy.

The demonstration, which coincided with one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, led to the temporary closure of the airport and resulted in numerous flight cancellations and delays.

They don't want us to see the fee fee on the itemized list of fees.

A 73-year-old man from Britain died and dozens of people were injured after a plane encountered “sudden extreme turbulence” about 10 hours into a flight from London to Singapore, officials said on Tuesday.

The plane, a Boeing 777-300ER operated by Singapore Airlines, was diverted to Bangkok, the airline said in a statement, and landed at 3:45 p.m. local time on Tuesday.

2 thumbs down to Southwest for making entertainment available on wiFi but not providing power outlets.

Apparently people who were unbuckled or standing were thrown against the ceiling.

As for Southwest. I was told a few months ago that their old fleet was being phased out and all new planes will have power outlets. That said, if you travel a lot, get a portable powerbank. Much much easier to deal with.

New York airport workers who refuel planes have planned Memorial Day weekend walkout

Passengers waiting to take off from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) this holiday weekend may have longer to wait until liftoff, as plane refueling workers are planning a strike to begin Friday.

Teamsters Local 553, which represents commercial and cargo jet fuel workers and mechanics at JFK, is in disagreement with the company that services airplanes there, Allied Aviation Services, Fox News has confirmed. The New York Post first reported the planned walkout.

The union, which previously went on strike in 2005, said in a press release it has been working without a collective bargaining agreement for nearly a year.

"This has been a coordinated effort by Allied at airports across the country, to have unions give up on this jurisdiction issue," Demopolos said. "They are trying to get other unions to give up their rights in exchange for a contract. They might have succeeded in some cities, but they failed against us at Newark, and they will fail again here at JFK."

Allied is the only fuel provider at JFK, the union said, making it the only company airlines can use there for services including receiving, delivering, storing and testing fuel.

Plane evacuated by specialist infectious diseases teams

United Airlines flight UA998 was flying off the south coast of Ireland when it was diverted to Dublin Airport over two separate incidents on board.

One involved a suspected medical incident, while the other was a disruptive passenger aboard the flight from Brussels to New York’s Newark Airport, according to Dublin Airport.

Numerous police cars and at least one ambulance were pictured on the tarmac around the airplane.

The flight had been expected to leave early this afternoon, but this was delayed as an infectious diseases team arrived to carry out tests.

Passengers were kept on board for the duration.

In a post on X, passenger Johan Westberg said the question ‘now is what virus is onboard if anything’.

United Airlines confirmed one disruptive passenger was removed from the flight.

Flyer tracks down missing bags to FLL worker’s home — he’s now facing a felony

A determined Spirit Airlines passenger was on a mission to find her stolen luggage.

She found out that it ended up at a Fort Lauderdale house.

Now, an airport employee has been arrested and charged with grand theft, and the incident was caught on camera.

Paola Garcia stood at Carousel 4 inside Terminal 4 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport watching fellow passengers retrieve their luggage.

She was in a panic.

“In my mind, I’m thinking I need my computer because I go to the university, I need my computer no matter what,” Garcia said. “I was waiting there at least two hours.”

Garcia said she always carries her pink hard-shell suitcase onboard with her, but this time she said she was forced to check it, and the suitcase never arrived at the conveyor belt.

That’s because as she was waiting, according to an arrest affidavit and pictures, 29-year-old Junior Bazile apparently had her suitcase in the back of an airport retail store where he worked.

Pictures obtained as part of the investigation show him rummaging through it.

The police report says he took a MacBook and other items out and then placed Garcia’s suitcase in a clear plastic bag.

Garcia’s MacBook, two Apple watches, an iPad, jewelry and designer clothes were all taken.

Back in the terminal and unaware of the theft, Spirit Airlines employees told Garcia not to worry.

“We sent your luggage to your house, so I give my address to Spirit,” she said.

But the next morning, her Apple watch was sending a signal, but not from the airport.

“So you’re at home and your watch is pinging at a house in Fort Lauderdale?” asked Local 10 News’ Jeff Weinsier.

“Fifteen minutes from the airport,” Garcia answered.

“So you decided to go to this house?” Weinsier asked.

“Yes, because I said how can Spirit deliver my suitcase there,” she said. “Yes, because I needed my computer. I have test that day.”

The Apple watch signal was coming from a house at 1017 NW 11th Ct.

When she arrived, she said she saw suitcases all over the place, so she started to take video and called 911.

United Airlines passengers to see targeted ads on seat-back screens https://www.cbsnews.com/news/united-airlines-flying-privacy-customer-data-ads/

Marketing in the friendly skies is getting personal, with United Airlines now displaying targeted ads on seat-back screens as the carrier looks to cash in on customer data.

United passengers who toggle through the in-flight film and TV show options already see ads during programming. That includes a 30-second commercial that will now reflect the information United has compiled on individual travelers, like where they live and destinations they've traveled to.
