I usually don't make threads like this, but if you are Bruce Allen you go and pick up this guy today.  He has been a leader since his days at UMD, has experience in both the 3-4 and 4-3, and should theoretically still a few good years left in the tank. (Remember, London was 32 when we picked him up.)

If the Redskins announced the signed Jackson for a vet min. type deal, I'd be thrilled. Could be the stop-gap type player that could allow for Keenan Robinson and possibly another 3rd or 4th round draft pick to learn under.

Rolling into 2014 with Riley, Jackson, Robinson, Chrstian Jones/Telvin Smith/Yawin Smallwood, Will Compton would be enticing. Nice mix of youth, prime (Riley) and vet (Jackson)

He's started 16 games each of the past 3 seasons and looks to have been productive. 30 years old isn't bad? We signed London at an older age and he was good for us for awhile.

We need an experienced ILB and a leader. If he fits that profile and the front office/coaches feel he would be a good fit. Would any of us have a problem?

He's worth more than Vet min IMO.

While that would be awesome, it looks like Jackson and Cleaveland mutually parted ways because Cleveland did not want to pay him a $4 million roster bonus and next season's $2.6 million base salary.  Doubtful he would then take vet. minimum elsewhere.

Okay, I didn't realize he was just 30. Fair enough. I mean even a $3m a year deal would be nice for 3-4 years to pair with Riley on a new deal. Draft Telvin Smith in the 4th to be a coverage specialist and Special Teams Stud and you're pretty much set at ILB for now and the future.

When does FA begin?

Also, 30 y/o for a linebacker isn't bad - especially one as productive as DQ.  I really wanted to draft him 6 years ago - count me in as someone who wants a chance at him.  He would be the perfect replacement for Fletch in terms of leadership and experience.

He's not signing for the vet min.  He was due something like 9.5 million this season and Cleveland wanted to free up more room to re-sign pro-bowlers Mack/Ward.  It's not like his play just dropped to the point of being replacement level (which is what the vet min is)

I guess he'd be a decent fill in until we can draft our future guy (if we haven't already). He was 7th in the league in combined tackles, pretty good, but tied for 37th in solo tackles with 75. The best he's ever done is 116 solo tackles back in '11. He's only averaging 75 solo tackles per season since he's been in the NFL & that's fairly pedestrian IMO. I'd be OK with bringing him in but no way should we give him a multi year multi million dollar contract. The Cerrato days are OVER!

HTTR!!!

Dansby signed a one year 2.25 million deal one year deal with Arizona. So I would say at the very least close to 3 million per year. We should definitely do it though. He is a stud and played in a simiar D with the Browns under Horton.

Dansby and Jackson are 2 very different players. Very different at this stage of career too.

They may be very different players, but their value shouldn't be too far apart from each other.  Dansby, (the more talented LB) is entering his 11th season while Jackson is entering his 8th.

IMO, the most important reason it's so important we sign D'Qwell is for what he will bring to the locker room.  He would come immediately and assume the role of captain of our defense.
