21MadFan
Now this is not a "we should get rid of Cooley thread" so lets not turn this into one of those. As we all know Cooley has not been a big part of the offense this year. We are not even sure if Cooley will be back next year also. So how about we send him out in style just in case. I would love for the Shanahans to design a play in the red zone so the main option in the route and hopefully RGIII can find him for the TD. No better way to go out then score against the hated Cowboys. :point2sky
Harwich Hog
I really think this will happen. He's done naught but block so far. I can actually see him ending up with multiple scores.
BigMike21
This game is way too huge to design plays for a reason like that in my opinion. I'm a Cooley guy too.
justice98
He sure gets a lot of interviews for a guy that doesn't play.

It's not about sentiment. It's about the Cowboys choosing not to cover him.

It would be nice if by some chance it happened but there is no reason to try to script it for a heartwarming story or anything. Save that stuff for the Disney channel. Riggo-toni
I've been thinking about this same scenario for a couple weeks now. In some lost thread from about 10 days ago or so, I even mentioned it in some obscure post, but I'm too lazy to try and search for it.

If he is open then he is open and thats on Griffin. The coaches haven't exactly been sending him out on a lot of pass routes since he has been back though. If they feel he is ineffective in the passing game to this point, there shouldn't be a sudden increase in his reps this week for any reason. Don't get me wrong - i'm not suggesting that we devote alot of practice time to it. But it's hardly difficult to ask a TE or H-back to chip block then set off on a route and not get accounted for. You see it all the time.
RVAbrendan
Making Chris the #1 read on a few red-zone plays would sort of be equivalent to running the QB-draw with Cousins - the element of surprise is there...
santana_4_prez
I can't think of a way to get a hyped up crowd even more hyped up. The crowd would go crazy.

Well the OP mentioned to do it to "send him out in style". No mention of Cowboys not covering him or reasons he will be open. Just sayin.

Spunkush
we have plenty of redzone plays where the FB or TE are the #1 read, not too hard to put Cooley in as the #1 option.
Harwich Hog
The more I think about it the more I think is not a possibility but actually probable. Cooley is a decent blocker but it's hardly his prime attribute. If you're just using him to block you might as well line-up with an additional OL like the 49ers often do. I think Kyle is just waiting for the right opportunity - whether it's in a critical situation on Sunday or in the playoffs.
CaptChaos86
Would love to see it. He has been a cowboy killer before and hope he has a big game. It wouldnt be a bad idea, i mean we havent used him that much since bringing him back. Im sure they wouldnt be expecting it.
skinnyskins
If the opportunity presents itself then sure, throw him the ball. I do not want to force the ball to him at the expense of a more effective play though.

Pick6
Even with his slow down from injuries he still has great hands. Better than some receivers on the team. I think RG3 could take a shot at Cooley in the end zone. Just don't expect him to get much YAC.
ZRagone
Would love to see it happen. I wouldn't be in favor of forcing the situation, but if a situation occured where he scored a TD in this game that'd be absolutely outstanding and I think would have the entire place ROCKING. Pick6
I really want to know what from this year has led you to that conclusion man Nothing from this year. Just over Cooley's career he has had great hands. Injuries would not effect something like that. The reason he is not getting more opportunities is because the mobility is not there anymore. Hankerson, Paul, and Paulsen have had some key drops this season.
Momma There Goes That Man
How about when it's 35-7 and we are running up the score? Then I fully expect every pass play to be specifically designed to get Cooley open for a TD.
s0crates
After Cooley made his first catch of the year last week you could see it meant a lot to him. He was holding back the tears. Asking for him to score a TD might be asking too much, but I would love to see him get a catch or two and hear those Cooley chants for old times sake. I think he has earned it. He has been a good citizen this season, doing a pretty decent job in his limited blocking role, and not making noise about it. It seems this is likely Cooley's swan song, and it would be nice to see him go out in style, considering all he has meant to the team and all the team has meant to him. Year_of_The_Monk
I know sometimes I wish Cooley was running those pass patterns instead of Paulsen. Cooley would not drop sure first downs. I seen that way to much from Logan this yr for my liking.
