Some interesting facts about Justin Snow:

- When the Colts released Peyton Manning, Snow became the longest tenured player on their roster.

- Snow was released August 31 after 12 years with the Colts.

- He was signed as an undrafted FA by the Colts in 2000. He served as both a long snapper and backup tight end for the Colts (read that again, Cooley fans.) Played in 192 straight games for the Colts through the end of last season.

- The Colts replaced him with a guy named Matt Overton, a 27 year old with zero NFL long snaps.

- He becomes the 2nd Baylor alum on the Redskins roster. (Can't remember the other guy. ;) )

- Four year letterman at Baylor as both a defensive end and a long snapper.

-Played high school ball at Cooper High in Abilene, the same school as former Redskins TE Terry Orr.

-He's 35 years old, is 6' 3", and weights 240.

- In 2003, Snow and kicker Mike Vanderjagt, along with holder Hunter Smith became the first snapper, holder and kicker trio in the league's history to go an entire season, including the playoffs, without missing a field goal or point-after attempt.

Welcome to Redskins Nation.

As tough as Nick Sundberg is, he can’t keep snapping with one arm.

According to Mike Garofolo of USA Today, the Redskins are signing longtime Colts long snapper Justin Snow to replace Sundberg, who broke his arm Sunday but kept playing.

It’s unclear how long Sundberg will be out, or whether they’ll put him on injured reserve. He suffered the injury in the first half but played on, giving him street cred as the baddest long snapper in the league (at least until one of the other midgets grows taller).

According to the Washington Post, the Redskins also worked out long snappers Lonie Paxton, Joe Zelenka and Matt Katula.

I said in another thread that after watching the Raiders blow the game last night w/ a blocked punt and 2 more botched ones when their long snapper went out for the game, it proves just how vital the position is and how seriously it needs to be addressed when an injury occurs. Good pick up by the Skins.

He better be a bad ass as he is replacing a dude who played with a broken arm. Snap straight and accurately sir. Welcome aboard, like the veteran signing. Is 240 small for a long snapper???

You are right, he has some really big shoes to fill. The fans and this organization should applaud Nick for grinding out the game as he did. I cannot imagine the pain that he endured.

Welcome Mr Snow! You will look ALOT better in B&G than B&W.
