Rufus T Firefly
There were rules in place that were supposed to stop teams from moving too much of a contract's value into the uncapped year. I never understood how we got away with skirting those rules, but it's wieird that it comes up now.
skinsfansince1988
i can't imagine the NFLPA will be happy, less money for them to get and 24 hours before FA, i bet the Eagles complained
DC9
Apparently the NFL sent out a memo saying "don't use the uncapped year to clear cap space" or something to that extent.NFLPA will have something to say about this...that's taking money away from players. That thing better have been worded flawlessly... Bruce Allen went to UVA law... this better be a $1 million hit.... ****ing bs...
laxpck
Up to this point I have been hesitant to criticize Goodell, depsite EVERYONE around me joining the chorus. That being said. GO F*^% yourself Goodell. You are ruining our beloved game. So the NFL fails to keep its collective bargaining agreement in place, therebye creating an uncapped year and we are going to be penalized for it? Hitman21ST
Our contract and money guys are better than the NFL idiots...so what does the NFL do when they get showed up..they go punative... That needs to be done every year then. Whenever teams restructure contracts, they're doing exactly what we did...
Sweet Sassy Molassy
I heard 18mil being thrown around. That's ridiculous. Was there a rule that said we couldn't do that? I don't see how they can take that if there's nothing saying you can't.
laxpck
Its all about the 38 mill we paid Fat Al and D Hall. I hate both those guys as much as I hate Goodell now.
Boss_Hogg
Amazing, I'm starting to believe that there is a bias towards the Skins. Screw you Goodell.

corsair_joe
So what deals were restructured during the uncapped year besides Fat Albert and DHall?
Commander Adama
This is utter BS. Where did it say we couldn't frontload contracts? Frontloading contracts is typical in the NFL, so why would they be trying to screw us now, two years later? Completely idiotic in my opinion. Spunkush
This is Socialism!!!! Stupid NFL protecting small market teams like the Jags and Cincy... Oh well, shouldn't be too bad, skins and Dallas bring in a lot of money to the NFL.

MLiverpool
Not sure how accurate this is for 2010, but here is a link with salaries for the uncapped year by team: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/09/19/team-by-team-salary-cap-numbers-if-there-were-a-salary-cap/

RedskinsNation
Are we talking less than 5 mil? This really blows if we are talking 10+ mil here. I mean now it all makes sense.....i remember listening to espn980 a few weeks back, or maybe a few months back...anyway....i think it was that J.I. Halsell dude or another NFL yapper and he kept saying that he didnt understand why more teams did not take advantage of the uncapped year like the Redskins did. He said it was common sense how to make use of it and free up room for future years and he was sorta shocked why other teams didnt do it. I guess it all makes sense now. If there was a hard memorandum or something that specifically said the do's and dont's then we are screwed on this. The rule sounds sorta soft if you as me. U can do this....but you cant do this.....Dan and Jerry will fight this im sure.
HigSkin
This part of the PFT article is what's so puzzling. Doesn't sound "binding" to me but more like some internal communication. Glad we have lawyers to figure this crap out. "the NFL instructed teams not to use the uncapped years as a way to dump money in order to ensure that cap numbers in years with a salary cap would be lower"
