'Zetas drug-cartel boss' captured in Mexico

Police catch alleged high-ranking leader of the Zetas drug gang amid continuing violence in northern Nuevo Leon region.

Mexican forces have captured an alleged high-ranking leader of the Zetas drug cartel gang after a shoot-out which had left at least nine people dead.

The suspected leader, known as "El Chabelo", was arrested with ten other alleged gang members after several days of co-ordinated police and military operations.

El Chabelo is believed to have been in charge of several cities in the northern Nuevo Leon region.

In a separate development, the Mexican military has freed 61 men being held captive and forced to work for a drug gang in a violent northern border city.

The army said on Sunday that the men were found in a safe house in Piedras Negras on Saturday.

Soldiers made the discovery during a security sweep in the area that also turned up an abandoned truck filled with 6 tons of marijuana.

A statement said one of the captive men is from Honduras, while the others are from various parts of Mexico.

Piedras Negras sits across the border from Eagle Pass, Texas, in the Mexican state of Coahuila, which has been the scene of ongoing battles between drug gangs.

Last week the army arrested a major figure from the Zetas drug cartel there.

I totally understand your position. While I live in the states I opened the company I work for office in Guadalajara in 2005. I am always in communication with our employees in our office down there and they share the same stories. Unfortunately, about a month ago one of our employees was actually murdered on the street as a senseless act of violence (he was leaving a club and was mistaken for the wrong person). The problem is bad and unless serious change is made will only get worse. I thank you for sharing your post and only wish for the best on your end.

Mexican drug cartels recruiting Texas children

Texas law enforcement officials say several Mexican drug cartels are luring youngsters as young as 11 to work in their smuggling operations.

Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, told Reuters the drug gangs have a chilling name for the young Texans lured into their operations.

"They call them 'the expendables,'" he said.

McCraw said his investigators have evidence six Mexican drug gangs -- including the violent Zetas -- have "command and control centers" in Texas actively recruiting children for their operations, attracting them with what appears to be "easy money" for doing simple tasks.

Is Mexican cartel the next 'Anonymous' target?

Could a Mexican drug cartel be the next target for a group of hackers known for online attacks against banks and government institutions?

A video purportedly from the international hacker ring Anonymous threatens the Zetas, warning that the names, photographs and addresses of cartel supporters can be published "if necessary."

"We cannot defend ourselves with a weapon," a masked man says. "But we can do this with their cars, homes, bars and whatever else they possess. It will not be difficult. All of us know who they are and where they are located."

The man, wearing a suit and tie, claims the notoriously violent drug gang has kidnapped an Anonymous associate in the Mexican state of Veracruz.

"We demand his release," says the man, who uses Mexican slang but speaks Spanish with a Castilian accent.

Im curious whether Anon will back up their words here. I am almost certain that the cartels will call their bluff. Hopefully this isnt just some publicity thing for Anon.

I hope that the Anon guys will do all they can to keep themselves from physical harm...

if Anonymous pulls this off... they will start to become a real and legitminate force in world politics... They will become a bigger targets for government security forces such as CIA so Anon needs to be careful here...

Hail Vis!

Being that The Walking Dead is in its second season, I'm gonna make a bit of a jump and assume you meant the other awesome AMC show, Breaking Bad?

edit: actually, i guess Breaking Bad only has 4 seasons, huh?

Mexican Blogger Decapitated - Wired.com (disturbing image at bottom of link - possibly NSFW)

Click link for full story

The moderator of a popular Mexican social network has been murdered, allegedly for tipping off the authorities about the local drug cartel.

Nicknamed “Rascatripas” or “Scraper” (literally “Fiddler”) on the network Nuevo Laredo en Vivo, the 35-year-old appears to have been handcuffed, tortured, decapitated and dumped beside a statue of Christopher Columbus one mile from the Texas border. Below the man’s body was a partially obscured and blood-stained blanket. Written on the blanket in black ink: “Hi I’m ‘Rascatripas’ and this happened to me because I didn’t understand I shouldn’t post things on social networks.”
