The team needs to tank this year.  The hole is too deep and whether they trade Beal or not, they need to tank for a high pick.

I don't know if that's a good idea. If you make it too obvious the commissioner's hand won't sort through the pile and pick out your envelope. What we really need is a feel good story about why DC needs a good Basketball team.

Yeah, they really have stop winning so many games.

They're going to claw their way to whatever the equivalent of a 33 win season is.  They need to start resting Beal and making sure they have the best odds at a top 3 pick because 9th overall picks aren't getting us anywhere, and they aren't good enough to find blue chippers deep in the draft like Denver and Toronto did.

I can't remember the winner of a scoring title ever playing for a last place team.  Eventually they will start winning more games.

This is why it’s better to deal Beal ASAP. Gotta get some young guards in a trade and/or in the next draft.

Beal is only 27 and has expressed interest in staying here long term.  If you can get a blue chipper in this draft, it will make a difference.  And we can get a high enough draft pick to get that guy if we continue losing at our current rate.

Just load manage Beal.  A high draft pick is the premium asset we need to rebuild around him.

I'm not sure why Beal would still stay. The other issue is how this team is able to add to the roster when they are going to have Westbrooks contract and with Beal likely getting a super max. At that time they will have to extend Rui and potentially Bryant.

Get a bunch of assets for Beal. Build from the ground up for the next couple years.

That's why you have to tank this season.  A top three pick gets you a difference maker on a rookie deal.  Beal has been consistent about his desire to stay long term.  Until that changes, we should be trying to get him to sign long term and planning on building around him.

Westbrook's deal is an impediment for the next two offseasons, but he'll come off the books in the offseason of '23.  If we tender Rui, then he doesn't hit RFA until '24.  I'm not that worried about Bryant walking TBH.  He's productive but his defense is just so back-breaking.  If he makes a leap as a defender and becomes a highly desirable piece, then we will still have his Bird Rights to get an extension done in '22 even if we're over the cap.

We can't do anything in free agency in the short term, which is why we have to try and do something with this draft pick.  Right now we've got the second worst record, we should be tanking for the worst record.  Unless Beal can tamper an All Star buddy into forcing his way here (in which case a high draft pick is instrumental in facilitating a trade), a top three pick is the only decent path to building a winner with Beal.

Getting a second big time piece via this draft and keeping Beal long term is the best outcome we can hope for.  Much better than starting from scratch and trying to find another Beal.

I'm all in for the tank

This team is horrible. If someone makes us a good enough deal for Beal we have to pull the trigger. It's nice he wants to stay here and everything (not sure why), but let's be honest, we aren't going to win diddly squat in the next 5 years. He isn't old, but he isn't getting any younger. Tear it all down and start from scratch.

One of the worst things about the Wizards is that apparently they aren't even listening to potential offers. Every GM should always listen on every player not named Lebron.

Ted refuses to start over. Bandaid moves and going to a low playoff seed is his preferred route.

It's remarkable how many bad decisions he's made with this franchise. Aside from the Knicks, is there a worse owner in the league?

Def needs to sell.  Thank god Nats ownership is tremendous and Ted seems to actually care about hockey because holy **** are WFT & Wizards ownership absolutely bottom barrel.
