TradeTheBeal!
Philly is rising but...they needed Wall/Beal to shoot 16-45 plus a career night from Covington just to hang around. Superior game from the Hammer. Go Wiz!

He drops his hands and ends up swiping at the ball late. He's not even close to earning his contract though. He was supposed to be a defensive force. TheItalianStallion
Good win, and it was with very little at the 4. As soon as Morris and Smith come back, we'll be good.

Yeah they're not ready to play winning NBA basketball yet. It's going to take them several years to get there. The road is long. But the key is they've got their foundation in place and it's incredible. Embiid and Simmons and Fultz were the best players in their classes. When that generation hits their late 20's, Philly is going to have three of the five or so best players in the NBA. We're like five years away from them and Minnesota doing what Cleveland and Golden State are doing right now.

His timing is all out of wack. You can see the rust from a lost season and a lack of defensive chemistry with the rest of the guys on the team. He's playing behind the action. It's going to be a while before we see the Pacers version of Mahinmi, who was legitimately one of the five to ten best defensive players in the league. If we ever do. We're also going to have defensive issues with the bench despite his presence because Frazier and Meeks can't play defense worth a damn and I don't think Mike Scott is particularly good either. I want to see Sato play with either Meeks or Frazier instead of both being on the court together. Or play Wall/Beal with them. Really with we had a four man who can play some defense. I would love to have Covington.

Going Commando
Fresh Gortat is a good starting center. Great dirty work big and roll man who gave Embiid a little trouble. He exploits the tendencies of young bigs who are better athletes but aren't as strong or crafty as him. Embiid got frustrated and started doing too much.

Destino
Is it possible to extend Oubre before he costs a fortune, or are we just going to lose him?

pjfootballer
Our benched averaged 27 last year. We had 41 last night. Get Morris back starting with Smith coming off the bench and we'll be good.

We're going to be chasing the one seed this year, so I don't think you'll see us move Gortat and Mahinmi and break up our continuity. But the dream would be to dump salary and go after DeMarcus Cousins and then work out an early extension for Oubre this summer.
GoDeep81
All those 3 balls falling had me worried a bit.. Then we just seemed to stop playing with like 3 minutes left. Made it a little more stressful, but glad they finished it off!
Warhead36
Why can't we get a seperate Wizards thread for this season instead of using the same one from 2010? The Nats and Caps get new threads every season. Its kinda dumb having to click on page 2563 to talk about the season opener. Didn't see the game but looks a lot like last year: high scoring, missed FTs, giving up a lot of 3s, the starters were great, the bench not so much, and Wall/Beal's brilliance closes it out. Should be good enough to win 50+ in the East. Hopefully the bench is better when Morris returns and Smith goes back to his role.
