Teller
I think you're right. Obama may have been the Nats best pitcher today :pfft: I have to talk trash while I can. The Pirates won't be undefeated and in a first-place tie for long.

Bang
Well, for those complaining about the cap,, think of it this way... if you were flipping the coin for opening day of NFL season and they asked you to wear a Cowboys cap.... no way in hell would I do it. Tradition be damned. As far as the pitch,, I tell you what.. it was easy when you were a kid, but if you don't throw for many years like you did when you were a kid, you'd be amazed at how lame you look when you try one. I remember the ball came to me during one of my son's baseball practices a few years ago, and I picked it up and went to throw it back like I always did 20 years ago,,, and I looked like the biggest gork who ever threw a ball. It came up about ten feet short, and it HURT. Those muscles don't get used like that too often if you aren't throwing! ~Bang

The intent of this thread is NOT to come up with logical reasons as to why Mr. President's throw was so pathetic...but rather to mercilessly make fun of him! P.S. I agree about the hat thing though. I think it's funny that he put that on. It's totally something I would do.
Teller
P.S. I agree about the hat thing though. I think it's funny that he put that on. It's totally something I would do. I thought that was funny as hell. I could see me doing that in Dallas, or Philly. (Provided I had the same security detail he does. I really hope the president will read some of my posts in race threads around here, and invite me in for one of his "beer summits." On a personal level, he just seems like a neat guy, and someone who'd be a lot of fun to have a beer and watch a game with.

But its the Nats we are talking about...not like he was throwing out the WhiteSox's biggest rival. If I were chosen to flip the coin for a team like the Texans who dont have much of a history yet, what does it hurt to wear a stupid jacket? jsco1112
Flipping around the radio earlier, they were going on and on about Obama's interview in the booth after he threw out the pitch. It was kind of funny. They were asking him to name some of his favorite players and he couldn't name one guy. And also kept referring to Comiskey park as Comensky. I don't really care, but it was mildly amusing especially considering he seems to want everyone to think he is all about sports.

Yeah, but......who cares? It's not like he spit on them or gave them the finger. Just goofing around showing his support for his own team on opening day of the season. I don't have a problem with that and I don't see it as some grand insult he made. :whoknows:

CallMeGreen
...As a warmup for the 4 times after that. Not sure how often former Presidents even throw out first pitches, but I could be wrong. I guess they'd let him do that if he asked. I like him for staying true to his team even though he throws the ball like a candy ass... So he is a Sox fan and true to it ? Let's be clear here, in his own words yesterday, he said he became a White Sox fan after moving to Chicago (also 'likes' the Cubs). He said because of where he lived (Hawaii), he actually grew up an Oakland A's fan. Remember how Hillary started out as a Cubs fan (Illinois roots), yet conveniently started wearing Yankees caps when she moved to NY to run for the Senate? Obama's fan loyalty to the White Sox is no different.
Kosher Ham
Hillary is a different story imo. Well Obama has been living in DC for over a year. No reason for him to change teams at this point. I cheer for the Nat's but I wouldn't ever wear any of their gear. I am an O's fan.
ixcuincle
EVAO81oxA5M Not exactly first time he's thrown a bad pitchPeople overanalyze and say HE CAN'T THROW STRIKES or HE SUCKS AT THROWING, well he's not an athlete, what do you expect? I saw on the news they had Ken Burns on talking about prior presidents, this is actually 100th year of presidents throwing balls out at opening day. Taft was first...but rambling aside these guys were stressing out and practicing for weeks before one hurl lolPS: When you look at that link it's clearly apparent why MLB has best all star game in pro sports

Burgold
She'd prob just quit anyway. I don't know she's pretty famous for her wicked spit balls. I'm not sure many politicians can hammer away at balls the way she does. You can tell Obama is a pacifist though. That pitch was about as far away from a strike as you can get. Then again, how can he be a true socialist and not believe in throwing strikes?

Who cares what we expect (although I do expect most males to be able to throw better than 8 year old niece...). It's just fun to make fun of people in power who suck at things like throwing the ball, or catching a football (Kerry), or even hunting (Cheney)!! It keeps me entertained! P.S. Ax, thanks for posting the picture of Obama on the bicycle. It's freaking hilarious no matter how many times I see it.

cyfar
Wear a Nats hat for crying out loud. Or something neutral. You are not the junior Senator from Illinois anymore. It is similar to what Darrell Armstrong did before his game with the Dallas maverick when he hopped on the mic after a Redskin win. He loves the White Sox. That's his squad, if I had the opportunity I would rock my B and G proudly.
Teller
Bang, I actually had a dream about you last night. We were in a really nice neighborhood, like Martha's Vineyard style, or something like that. And there was about 2 feet of snow on the ground. I was telling you that you that I can still throw, even though I hadn't for years, and that your post in this thread was bunk. We started out trying to see who could hit one of the big blue postal service boxes, from about 15 yards. Then, just to show off, I started hitting street signs from about 50. Pretty unrealistic, but I woke up LMAO.
