Hunny
Ick. Raw tomatoes are gross. Ketchup is good. So is Campbell's Tomato Soup. I'll pick around Salsa and get the "juice" on my chip, but shake off the tomatoe pieces. Now, I also hate mushrooms. They smell like . . . okay. I won't go there. Going Commando
Tomatoes have a long and storied history. I remember reading once that they were once thought of erroneously as a natural aphrodisiac. In the olden days they used to call tomatoes pomme d'Amor, which means apple of love. Inquiring minds want to know! If that were true then Viagra wouldn't exist. Besides, sometimes it doesn't hurt to give the old libido a jump start. Why else are oysters and chocolate so popular as sexy foods? As for me, I think it's fair to say I get horny for tomatoes in all their varieties. One of my favorite things is Insalata Caprese and it's really simple. Get a block of good Mozzarella and slice it and a tomato. Lay the Tomato slices flat on a plate with the cheese overlapping it. Then sprinkle some fresh parsley, basil, and salt and black pepper on the slices and dress it with some tasty olive oil. It's incredible. I like using Roma tomatoes for it since they are my favorite kind. yum.
twenty-eight
pshaw. well, that's how i talk, so deal with it. Haha. It wasn't your choice of words. I just don't feel that way about tomatoes. Edit: Nevermind...def yum yum gimme some! I like to add a little balsamic vinaigrette to mine If that were true then Viagra wouldn't exist. I can be a very finicky eater, much to my family's chagrin. Tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches is super yum.
Kosher Ham
Sometimes. That tomato/Mozz salad would be a yes. Tomato on my sandwich would be a no. Cooked in a stew, chili or soup absolutely. Ketchup and pasta would be a yes. Salsa, not ever.
No_Pressure
I said I don't like them but hear me out. I don't enjoy tomatoes by themselves in their original state with the exception of one thing. I've had tomatoes chopped into cubes and paired with mozzarella cheese chunks in a olive oil sauce and it was amazing. I don't like tomatoes in slices on anything. Subs, sandwiches, burgers, it isn't so much the taste, it's the texture, especially when its too juicy and has the ooze that looks like snot with the seeds in it. I LOVE tomato based sauces and condiments. I can't get enough of them. It's like its own food group to me, I love smothering french fries and burgers in ketchup, I love the flavors you can get out of different types of marinara or pizza sauces, I love salsa if it isn't too chunky. But those are products with tomato in it they are not just tomatoes.
Oldskool
I cant eat them unless they are on a burger. In paste, in chunks as a part of a dish, in ketchup all are ok. Whole and raw is absolutely disgusting.

And I love, like you mention, a good red sauce on a pizza or pasta . . . as long a it is not too chunky (or infested with onions). Here is one thing I have recently discovered about my taste: I really enjoy "Umami" foods, and some tomato-based products, or foods which use them, are part of this food class. MissU28
Unfortunately, like most raw veggies I get an itchy throat and slightly asthmatic when I eat them, but I live with it. ~Bang really?? me too! Raw vegetables but especially raw fruit. Apples make my throat/gums super itchy. Carrots make me itchy and sometimes my lip swells a little bit. I can't eat raw fruits and vegetables. Once my lip blew up like elephant man when I ate some honeydew melon, watermelon, and cantaloupe at the Marriott buffet. Going Commando
Tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches is super yum. Tomatoes are great on grilled cheeses. God especially when you add bacon. And you can use unconventional cheeses on them too. No one else in my family really likes it but I love making grilled cheeses with brie or gorgonzola and tomatoes and bacon and it's incredible. Tomatoes were also just meant to go with fresh mozzarella and basil or pesto. One of my favorite things in the world is a panini with fresh mozzarella, oil, a big ass tomato slice, pesto or basil leaves, and maybe some prosciutto on a focaccia. We've got a panini grill that you can press them with and it's so freaking good.

I like good pico de gallo too. My sister makes this really good one that also has black beans, sweet corn, onions, garlic, and a lot of vinegar and sugar in it and it's awesome. But I also really like the soupier salsas you get at mexican restaurants and yes, that you can find in the grocery store. Costco sells giant containers of salsa that are literally like crack to me. If I didn't make a concerted effort not to, I could probably eat myself to death on that stuff.

I also had the mild itchy aspect from eating raw green beans, which is a known allergen when uncooked.
