thehogs
Unfortunately, Ronnie James Dio has been diagnosed with stomach cancer after his European Tour, which was due to start here in Scotland, was cancelled at the last minute: Dio Cancer Confirmed All the best Ronnie, lets see you back on stage soon. Blackmore/Dio/Powell - one of the most astounding sounds in hard rock:
Koolblue13
Dio still has it too. That guy has some lungs. Blackmore is a cool guy, real nice. Used to show up and hang out at a tiny dark wine bar I worked at. He would bring his guitar and just play. Killer stuff.
aREDSKIN
That's just sad. Rainbow-Rising Black Sabbath- Heaven & Hell, Mob Rules Are some of my favorite albums. Saw him a number of times at the Cap Center. Extremely UNDERRATED as a Rock n Roll singer.
Mickalino
I'm sure 'ol Ronnie will kick this, and find a Rainbow in the Dark, to look to.
Bostic Hog
I'll reminisce: I saw Dio at the "Monsters of Rock" in 1984 in Karlsruhe, Germany. The lineup went: Motley Crue, Gary Moore, Accept, Dio, Ozzy, Van Halen, AC/DC. Well, when DIO played, he had power problems .. concert delayed twice. Then, when Ozzy played, he had power problems .. delayed again. No other power issues all day. The rumor was that they were ****ing with each other ... that they got into fisticuffs later. All in all, Dio rocked the house! Get well soon!
#98QBKiller
Damn, I've never been a huge Dio fan but "Mob Rules" was the best Sabbath album without Ozzy for sure. I definitely hope he gets over this, he seems like a very cool guy in interviews.
Mickalino
Doesn't he have a brother who sings also ? EDIT : I must be thinking of someone else - wikipedia says he was an only child.
MintHillSkinsFan
At least they caught it early. Hopefully he kicks this and comes back stronger than ever. Dio rules!!

BigRedskinDaddy
Wow. That is terrible news. All the best, my man. Get well soon. RJD at one time possessed one of the very best sets of pipes in all of music, much less metal. A consummate showman. The Holy Diver tour was the first rock show I ever saw, and I wasn't the same again - in a good way of course.

Chachie
Just saw Ronnie in concert in summer of 2008. He was singing for Sabbath, opening up for Judas Priest at Nissan. He was perfect. Get well, RJD.
stickyshooZ
Horrible news. From what I've heard, he's one of the nicest guys in the world. Why does cancer try to screw with all the good people? Get well soon, Ronnie.

War Paint
I've always liked Dio's music. The first Dio album I got was Dream Evil, when I was in 9th grade. I used to listen to that album when playing the original Zelda on the first Nintendo lol. I've always loved "The Last In Line".

He has a cousin that plays in a band called The Rods, David Feinstein. Feinstein was also in Elf with Dio. Maybe this is who you are thinking of? JCB
Ronnie James-ah is the man. I read somewhere that his response to this diagnosis (early stages, thankfully) was "now I have to kill the dragon." Dio!!!

Maybe this is who you are thinking of? Don't laugh at me, but I THINK I was confusing Ronnie James Dio, with Ronnie Van Zant.....I KNOW, I KNOW.....2 completely different types of music - but it's the family names that confused me, not the genre.......Ronnie Van Zant has 2 brothers that sing in bands, and like Dio, they have a triple name, or whatever you want to call it.
