Fake Obama thesis story goes viral.

So now we're going with the Kenyan born socialist doesn't really have a degree? I guess Harvard paid off all of those other students to keep their mouths shut when he was on the Harvard Law Review and when he graduated Jurist Doctor (Doctor of Law) Magna Cum-Laude. I bet it was the same people who paid off the Republican governor of Hawaii to falsify his Birth Certificate...oh wait...Certificate of Live Birth (Which BTW is what Virginia issues as well)...lets see did I forget anything?

oh yeah

:dunce:

You know whats ironic in this is there are some States that will NOT ACCEPT a "certificate of live birth" as definitive or LEGAL proof of one's identity. Additionally, there are some little league associations that will not accept these too. ONLY long form birth certificates meet acceptance standards as PROOF. ;) Show me the LONG form BO. :D

And yet in Hawaii it is legal proof of identity....so what's your point?

Too late, I quoted it.

When I got my job, I had to show my long form birth certificate, and if I remember correctly, I had to do the same thing for my passport. :whoknows:

Fine I'll take my Obama blinders off if you promise to take off your conspiracy blinders too.
My premise is the one that makes sense.

The true conspiracy theory is the one based on "well he MUST have done a thesis, he just MUST have", despite not a shred of evidence that one exists.

Just 'cause you say so don't mean it is so. Just because you haven't seen something doesn't mean it doesn't exist, and just because you want there to be a conspiracy so you can continue to try and delegitimize Obama as the President doesn't mean there is really a conspiracy.

But, then its not about reality that is really important anymore, its all about the insinuation of wrong doing that counts in some people's eyes.

By your premise you condemn not only Harvard Law School, but the professors, Harvard Law Review and the students who would be in positions to know if Obama worked on his thesis in Law School. By the time we finish with all of these tin-hat conspiracy theories from the Right the logic that will be needed to maintain them each will cause each and every person in the United States to be complicit in the massive cover-up.

Baculus: Weren't you a Pentagon truther?

Several years ago, yes, until I realized I had to take off my own blinders. It's difficult to seriously talk about political subjects if your final conclusion always leads to a conspiracy theory. If your final conclusion is that "they did it."

Conspiracy theories are sometimes a trap to create a bubble of limited thinking, and once you are inside of it, it's hard to escape. It becomes your world view.

You are trying much harder to legitimize the guy than I am trying to do the opposite.

I really do not care if he ever submitted squat. But upon hearing both sides on the issue I came up with a logical conclusion. You realize that the colleges officially say that a thesis was not even a requirement. So Obama claims to go over and above the official requirement, but cannot produce a paper. Would not be the first time somebody has exaggerated a resume.

See and there you go again, because by saying that you then implicate the Thesis committee for not coming out and saying that Obama didn't write a thesis. You say "its not the first time somebody has exaggerated a resume" but the situation is much more complex than that because this isn't a matter of a simple resume, in order for what you are saying to be so lots of people have to be in on the supposed cover-up. The thing about conspiracy theories is that they only work when you look at only part of the evidence, but once you start pulling the strings to their logical conclusions they fall apart or they are forced to expand to include large numbers of people.

Oh and I'm not trying to legitimize Obama, I'm simply pointing out the non-existent logic in your conspiracy theory. It seems to me that you want this to be true, and so you believe it is and as such you are falling into the same horrific trap that Rush Limbaugh jumped into.

Yes, at that time, a "thesis paper" was not a requirement at Columbia for an undergraduate degree in political science:

"As far as has been determined, Barack Obama did not produce a formal thesis for his degree at Columbia University; the closest match is a paper he wrote during his senior year for an honors seminar in American Foreign Policy."

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/columbiathesis.asp

It is a non-issue. Obama does not have a thesis because it never existed in the first place.

Are you reading anything or just being an idiot for your messiah (the one in the whitehouse)? How could there be a "thesis committee" when there is no requirement for a thesis? No massive coverup, just one retired professor, who is either lying or not remembering correctly. (And Obama, of course.)

Columbia did NOT require a final thesis for an undergraduate degree. No cover-up is needed because the school didn't have that requirement. You can't find what wasn't kept on record. Constantly agitating about it is a lost cause.

If you want to know when I stopped reading I'll give you one guess.

BTW, this is me washing my hands of you.

Not requiring a thesis is not the same thing as there not having the opportunity to write one, which was the case in my grad school. The Nuclear Disarmarment paper that he wrote, which was that for, undergrad or grad school?

That was for his undergraduate degree at Columbia.
