China Posted July 30, 2012 Share Posted July 30, 2012 Port Orange police charge woman after she re-enacts domestic abuse claim on cop A Port Orange police officer asked a woman to show him how her husband tried to strangle her and when the woman put two fingers on the policeman's neck, she got arrested, records show. Officer Michael Garay, responding to a domestic disturbance, charged Claudia Ambroziak, 58, with battery on a law enforcement officer, although he asked the woman for the demonstration, police reports state. "I asked Claudia to show me how Joe (Ambroziak) choked her," Garay wrote in his report. "Claudia was able to place approximately two fingers and her thumb around the front of my neck...was able to apply pressure to the front of my neck." Garay said he then grabbed Claudia Ambroziak's hand "before she was able to apply any more pressure to my neck," and charged her with battery on a law enforcement officer, according to his report. China Posted October 17, 2012 Share Posted October 17, 2012 Police use Taser on blind man after stick mistaken for sword A police force has apologised after an officer used a Taser on a blind man whose white stick was mistaken for a sword. Colin Farmer, 61, was stunned by police following reports of a man walking through Chorley with a samurai sword. Ch Supt Stuart Williams, of Lancashire Police, said the force had "deep regrets" and had "clearly put this man through a traumatic experience". Mr Farmer was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged. "It felt like I was grabbing an electricity pylon," he said. Mr Farmer, who has suffered two strokes, said he thought he was being attacked by thugs. He was walking to a pub to meet friends on Friday when the officer fired the Taser. It forced him to drop his stick and he fell to the ground, he said. He said the experience had left him "shaking like a leaf" and scared to go outside. The case has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission. A Lancashire Police spokesman said the incident was being investigated and the officer's Taser had been withdrawn. China Posted October 31, 2012 Share Posted October 31, 2012 Cop shoots 10-year-old boy with Taser for refusing to clean patrol car “Career day" at Tularosa New Mexico Intermediate School went terribly wrong after a 10-year-old boy says a police officer used his Taser gun to show him what cops do to people who don’t follow orders. Officer Chris Webb of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety is being sued in court after allegedly using his Taser-brand stun gun on a school playground to send 50,000 volts of electricity into a young boy’s body, forcing the child to blackout. According to the complaint filed on behalf of the child, "Defendant Webb asked the boy, R.D., in a group of boys, who would like to clean his patrol unit,” when the officer came to the school earlier this year. "A number of boys said that they would. R.D., joking, said that he did not want to clean the patrol unit.” Defendant Webb, the complaint suggests, responded by pointing his Taser at R.D. and saying, 'Let me show you what happens to people who do not listen to the police.'" The officer then allegedly fired two barbs from the device at the child’s chest, penetrating his shirt. "Instead of calling emergency medical personnel, Officer Webb pulled out the barbs and took the boy to the school principal's office," the complaint continues. When he attempted to remove the weapon attached to his skin, though, the 100-pound child passed out. Since then, he has been left with scars that are described in court as resembling cigarette burns. Jennifer Foster, a Florence, Ariz., tourist, posted a photograph of the officer giving a homeless man a pair of boots and socks on a frigid night in Times Square on Nov. 17. The image became an instant hit on the NYPD's Facebook page. More than 308,861 users "liked" his generosity as of Thursday morning. Newsday identified him as Larry DePrimo of Holbrook, Long Island. He's assigned to the 6th Precinct in Manhattan. The homeless man said he'd never had a pair of shoes. DePrimo purchased a pair of insulated boots and thermal socks and put them on the man's feet. DePrimo said the man "smiled from ear to ear. It was like you gave him a million dollars." He told The New York Times that "it was freezing out and you could see the blisters on the man’s feet. I had two pairs of socks and I was still cold.” He learned the man's shoe size was 12. The police officer went into a nearby Sketchers shoe store and the manager offered him his employees' discount, which brought the price of the boots from $100 to $75, the paper reported. "Most of us are New Yorkers and we just kind of pass by that kind of thing," Jose Cano, 28, a manager at the store, told the Times. "Especially in this neighborhood." China Posted December 18, 2012 Share Posted December 18, 2012 Two off-duty Seattle cops arrested in DUI case One officer cursed and had to be restrained after she and another off-duty Seattle police officer were arrested for investigation of drunken driving early Monday, according to a police report on the incident in the Sodo District. ... The incident began when officers responded shortly after midnight Monday to a report of a collision near the intersection of First Avenue South and South Lander Street. A witness had called police and reported that a woman was driving a Nissan Altima with what a police spokesman later described as having significant front-end damage. The woman allegedly stopped the car in the middle of the street and switched places with a man in the passenger seat, according to a police statement. Officers searching the area found the car several blocks south at First Avenue South and South Brandon Street. The car was two to three feet from the curb, with the engine running and "in the roadway," the statement said. Officers recognized the two people in the car as off-duty Seattle officers who appeared to have been drinking, according to the statement. ... One of the officers, a female, registered blood-alcohol levels of 0.234 percent and 0.247 percent, above the state's legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to a Seattle police report. In the course of the testing, she cursed at the arresting officer, acted in an aggressive manner and gave him the middle finger in a North Precinct room equipped with a video camera, the report said. Twice, the woman, who cried at times, tried to rush the arresting officer, only to be held back by a sergeant, the report said. She told the officer and sergeant she was driving her boyfriend around. The other officer taken into custody registered blood-alcohol levels of 0.161 and 0.149 percent, according to a second police report.
