Favorite song and motion picture scene pairing

I never realized just how critical a score or song is to a motion picture's particular mood, atmospheric cinematography or cameo portrait encapsulation until I completed a Music and Motion Pictures course at GMU some time ago. The instructor was a famous composer and fascinating fellow. I thoroughly enjoyed the class ; although, the twenty plus page essay was a bit tedious :)

Anyway, what are some of your favorite song/score pairings with a particular scene or movie in general?

Some of mine:

1. The Warriors - 'In the City' by the Eagles: The gang walking triumphantly along the beach in Coney Island with the sun setting was fantastic IMO.

2. Crimson Tide - 'Sweet Home Alabama': First scene with the USS Alabama at sea leading to Viggo Mortensen ironing shirts somewhere in the bowels of the vessel.

3. Forrest Gump - 'Sweet Home Alabama': Forrest and Jenny reunited and dancing together in the summer dusk.

4. The Crossing Guard - Brilliant Sean Penn movie in which Jack Nicholson plays the part of a heartbroken, wounded father whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver. Bruce Springsteen's ballad 'Missing' is the perfect accompaniment. Bruce certainly has a knack for such things.

5. The Pledge - yet another brilliant, thoroughly underrated Sean Penn movie IMO. The 'gone fishing' scene with Jack Nicholson and the soul cleansing song 'Nwalhulwana' playing in the background.

6. Wonderland - Val Kilmer portrayal of legendary porn actor John Holmes. Gordon Lightfoot's 'If You Could Read My Mind' in the concluding scene where Val watches from afar as his wife and child leave really strikes home.

Great thread...okay here are some that come to mind:

Forrest Gump - 'Running on Empty': When Forrest is running..of course. :)Great use of that song.

Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid - 'Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head'

Animal House: 'Shout' - Great scene jumping back and forth from Otis Day and the crowd.

Pulp Fiction - 'Girl You'll be a Woman Soon' -

Almost Famous 'Tiny Dancer' When the band is on the bus.

Goodfella's: 'Layla' - The song plays as many get wacked.

Forrest Gump - Running on Empty - when he runs across the nation

I wouldn't classify it as a scene, but the last half hour or so of Requiem for a Dream, the score is done extremely well to tie in with the direction the film is going. I'm partial to the movie in general as it's one of my favorite movies, but I think the last third of the movie is particularly impressive with how it melds the music and what's happening with the characters.
