Drop
anyone ever had it or know what it tastes like? I've never had it before, but i got two big hunks of it to take home and put in the freezer from an old co-worker. I was reading the "should Burgold start threads" thread and it started going into bacon and sausage, which made me think to post this. Thoughts, experiences, anything that might give me some insight as to if this stuff is any good, and whether or not my wife will try this. stoshuaj
depends on who processed it and what type of seasoning and cuts of meat they put into it.
MintHillSkinsFan
If it's country sausage(lots of sage and black/red pepper), it's AWESOME. I've never really had any other type of sausage made out of venison but I don't see why it wouldn't be just as good.

Mountdrago
The deer sausage I get always is a mixture of pork and deer. Deer is typically (in my opinion) too lean to make good sausage on its own. There is always a good mixture of seasonings - spicy or otherwise. When done in this way, most peaople will not recognize that the sausage is deer. They may comment that it tastes real good or not as greasy, but I've never known anyone to guess that it is anything other than conventional pork sausage. Good luck and enjoy
Drop
really? wow you guys make this stuff sound pretty good. I'll ask my buddy what it was seasoned with. He's an older guy who's been hunting for a long time, so i'm sure he knows what he's doing.
gbear
Is it scary that I misread the title as "Dear Sausage?" I was expecting a note. I was sitting in my cube going dear God, I know we're a primarilly male audiance, but do we really need pet names for our wangs out on the internet? H-O-G
I don't get it? Your 26 years old, and you come on a message board to ask us if you should try or what sausage tastes like? Just try it.

stevenaa
Is it breakfast sausage or summer sausage. I always get several 5lb. rolls of summer sausage when I have my deer processed. It is phenomenal.
Drop
H-O-G, maybe you don't get it because you're an 18 year old kid who i'm guessing doesn't have a career yet. Obviously, I am gonna try it. I asked what it tasted like (not IF i should eat it) because um, i'm not in front of my stove right now, i'm at work. Sorry i can't just cook some of it up and write a review at the moment. And maybe you missed the thread title, but it's DEER SAUSAGE, not regular sausage. But when i need to come to an authority on swallowing sausage in general, i'll keep you in mind. and stevenaa, it's the breakfast variety.
China
depends on who processed it and what type of seasoning and cuts of meat they put into it. This. I've only had it once, and the sausage I had was summer sausage. Very good.

NavyDave
Deer sausage is beyond delicious, though still not on the Good Gawd scale of excellent Deer Jerky which has me behaving like Futurama's Dr Zoidburg when they ran out of anchovies :D
