TheDoyler23
As the ground thaws and the days get longer, with football season in the rearview and training camp months away, baseball season approaches. Since something has to fill the gap between March Madness season weekends, I've been going thru my baseball movies on DVD. My favorite all time has to be Major League. The hapless Cleveland Indians go from worst to first in spite of their former stripper owner. Some movies are great because of their humor (Major League), some are great dramas (The Natural), some are chick flicks (A League of their Own). So what's your pick? Other baseball movies to consider: Bull Durham, Eight Men Out, Pride of the Yankees, Field of Dreams, 61*, The Bad News Bears, Angels in the Outfield, Bang the Drum Slowly, A League of their Own, The Natural, The Scout, Rookie of the Year, The Sandlot, Mr.Baseball, Fever Pitch, Cobb, and Damn Yankees! rincewind
For me its a tie between Major League and Bull Durham. 2nd place is The Sandlot and as a Yankees fan I'm obliged to love Pride of the Yankees.

jthor99
Bull Durham hands down "Well, I believe in the soul, the ****, the *****, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days."- Crash Davis
zoony
The Natural, followed by Major League, with the (original) Bad News Bears coming in 3rd. I will say "For Love of the Game" was surprisingly good. Maybe it was b/c I wasn't expecting much, and I normally don't like Kevin Costner movies. Sticksboi05
Major League. Love that movie. My dad is an Indians fan too which makes it better. The Sandlot is a feel good movie.

rincewind
For some reason, baseball makes great movies. Football, not so much. Because you can easily make a baseball scene - hell, most of the guys are just standing around. Football, not so much. Notice every football sequence ever has some guy getting hit and doing a cartwheel in the sky... how often have you ever really seen that happen? The price is WRONG, beyotch! the correct answer is that baseball is a much more 'touchy feely' sport than football, and evokes more emotion from the audience. .... Tell that to Brian's Song.****in' Notre Dame. I just don't think "The Natural" would have worked if the action / on field sequences had been Robert Redford blasting thru the line of scrimmage on his way to the endzone. There's a reason Hemingway chose baseball as part of Santiago's consciousness, too. Although I will spot you Rudy. That was a good movie, I'll admit that. The reason I think was the on-field action was minimized. ....

I get too many laughs That was almost English. The only movie filmed at OPACY was Major League 2, which was decent for a sequel, but pretty watered down overall. EersSkins05
Bull Durham. By a LOT. That movie is a part of minor league baseball nomenclature like Caddyshack is for golf. It's not even a question which movie the baseball insiders prefer, though some will say Field of Dreams because of the Dad factor.
