TODD
We have a couple of threads going about this, but I think a poll would be helpful at this point. What should we do with 21?
cadets08
You retire it simply because this is a terrible tragedy that has never afflicted the Washington Redskins, and it is the least the organization can do to honor the would be legacy of #21 Sean Taylor. Besides at the rate he was playing, his number would have been retired anyways. But I'm sure there will be nay sayers so I can't wait to hear what other propositions they have other than retiring his number.
GOSKINS_08
Retire it, and put Sean Taylor in the Ring Of Honor. But if Portis wants to wear it for 1 game, I say let him.
CapitalDefense
emotion will be 99% of my answer today we need time.....
Mr. S
I would prefer Portis not wear it for one game, but let him if he really wants to. Otherwise, retire it, either formally, or the way we do with other jerseys like Green, Monk, and Riggins.
spjunkies
I'm pretty sure CP will finish this season with 21 and switch to 36 next year.
TheGift
Allow Portis to wear #21 for the rest of the season, then retire it
McD5
Ask Mike Nelms and Byner first.....and if they are ok with it, assuming they would be, then retire it at the end of the season.
TODD
I have to say, I'm pretty surprised by the results so far...
S.TaylorMade
i'd allow portis to finish the season with it and then retire it at the cowboys game...
21dave
My vote: Allow Portis to wear #21 for one game (Sunday), then retire it
Skinz89
My vote for it is to, let Portis finish the season with it and then retire it when the season is over.

“Misdirection”
Allow Portis to wear it for the rest of the season, and then retire it.
C.Taylor
ST had already become one of my top ten Redskins of all time, probably soon to be one of my top 5, but no Skins number should be retired until #9 is.
Veretax
Portis is the ONLY guy I'd want to wear #21 on this current roster. otherwise i'd reserve the jersey as unusable for at least 5 years. even then only a special player should get permission to use it. raperry2
i think it should be up to clinton basically. we all know they were close friends. id like to see clinton wear #21 as long as he wants. but if clinton portis goes back to #26 which i think he probably would... as soon as that happens... it would mean a lot to me and redskins nation if they did retire the number. i hope they do and i think they will. Uno Mas
I voted let Portis wear it the rest of the season, then retire it but almost instantly changed my mind. Let Portis honor his friend for one game, then retire it. As someone else stated, Its Seans number.
W1N_SKINS
Retire it, and put Sean Taylor in the Ring Of Honor. Let Portis wear it through end of season and retire it first game next season
Capt Rich Fla
I don't know how many of you know this, but I think we should rip a page out of the University of miami's book on retired numbers. At the U a number is not retired, it is revered. Ray Lewis was #52 at the U. If a future LB can play up to the greatness of the man that marked that # then you are rewarded that number. It is an honor. CP had 26. When he was drafted look who took that #. You guessed it, Sean Taylor. I think that is the best way to remember that #. 21 shouldn't collect dust in the rafters for our kids to one day ask, "daddy, who is Taylor?" If you give that to a player, like at the U, they feel almost a resposibility to keep the legend of that # for what it really means. EXCELLENCE. The #s at the U have to be earned. Since he went there I think he would appreciate this. I personally would like to see this tradition started at FED EX. IMO
KrnZippo
can we add an option? i would like Clinton Portis to wear it for the rest of his Redskin's career then retire it. not just this season but until he leaves the Redskins. but after CP no one else should be able to wear it. CP was a close friend of ST, this isn't any old redskin trying to wear it.

WSHRedskins3ATLBraves3
I think that CP should be able to wear it as long as he wants. He was one of Sean's best friends. After that, it should be retired, never to be worn again.
