Gilgamesh
Great article. I think it captured Stephon perfectly. Having played with Stephon as a TERP I can honestly say he was one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Which had to do with a locker room full of testosterone and egos. He just didn't care. You'd be surprised what kind of music he listens to too. Let's just say that he's not your average brotha in that department. lol I'm so proud of this kid. GO TERPS!!! GO SKINS!!!:applause: You know, you're in a unique position in terms of providing and insightful answer to this question: Who do you think will have the better NFL career, Stephon Heyer or Jared Gaither? (and what was Gaither like, btw.?)
Art
Glad to see the responses. It's telling, to me, JLC is on his phone in the press box talking about panning on Heyer in the first quarter of the first preseason game, then followed through, but, Carpenter comes in and it's not even his beat and does Jason's job. If Jason was not so interested in blogging, he might be able to get this type of story, which actually bonds him to the readers. It's a shame our primary can't figure this out on his own. It's a shame that JLC is still the Post's primary Skins writer. Every time i read the guy it makes me want to send Maske a gift basket.
scstand
I got a little teared up after reading that story. Glad you posted this Art. BTW...I sent you a PM have you had a chance to read it yet?
LoudMouth12thMan
Great story, and it's good to know that we have a guy like Heyer on this team waiting in the wing. He's a blessing and I think he'll be a nice Tackle for years to come. Regardless of what he does on the field, I really enjoyed reading that article. thelarkascend1ng
absolutely brilliant article. i like heyer even more now! you can watch that roughly minute long video as well - he's very well spoken and it just seems like he's got his head in the right place. i'm rooting for stephon! Morneblade
Great piece, thanks for posting this Art. He was already the "feel good" story for this year, but that artical put it over the top. I'd love to see Stephon go to the pro bowl in a few years, and that would be icing on the cake. You cant help but to root for the guy to become a great player.

SkinsManNJ
Hopefully he will become the leader of this OL when the vets start retiring. Hope he stays in the B&G for his entire career and not gassed up by his agent.

dshockey
Amazing article, amazing story. I'm so much more satisfied reading upbeat stories in the news as opposed to the constant crimes, tragedies, and general fear mongering that get reported. StJoe4Life
Absolutely brillant. I'm a girl, and a terp, but I am not ashamed to admit that I teared up a little at this aritcle.
Commander Adama
This is a story, that makes me proud to be a Redskin Fan. Keep those high character guys coming in!
RonArtest15
Great read on Heyer, and I really hope for the best with him in his career here in DC...but, how about giving SERIOUS props to Brian Jordan? With all the attention focused on negativity by pro-athletes by the media, this type of humility should be applauded.
Larry Brown #43
I read this article in the print edition this morning and figured there'd be some nice chatter about it going on here. Great, great story. I particularly liked the part about the guy on the airplane who wrote the letter. Hopefully Stephon will make a home here for years to come. Willskins
Great article...'bout time! Did any of you catch the Thomas interview after the Miami game? You could really sense the affection he has for Heyer...even through the gentle ribbing! :eaglesuck

slackermike
Great article. It's refreshing to read something positive instead of the normal everyday garbage.... "Why didn't Springs start?" "Joe Gibbs II is a failure" "Brandon Lloyd has no heart...", and almost anything written by JLC... etc, etc.
jeronimobrat
It almost made me cry a little. It is quite refreshing to see an African American having to earn his stripes instead of it being handed to him. Kind of reminds of us ordinary individuals. MontanaRed
What a great article. I'll be rooting even harder for Heyer. It's great to read not only how much Jordan, White, Devers (& of course his mom) have done together, but now he has Randy Thomas to look up to. I like how Randy doesn't blow up his head: "He did all right. He's a rookie". He's going to keep his feet on the ground. Hope to see him in B & G for a lot of years. Leonard Washington
they should have put out this story when he was catching so much heat during the preseason. When they moved to the weight room, Devers walked over to the weights and began to push almost 400 pounds into the air. Heyer, with his huge frame and enormous feet, struggled to lift 225. that has to be a leg press.
jrockster21
Great story - I love reading pieces like this. Its great to see good things happen to good people; if Heyer's mom never sat across from Brian Jordan, he may have never made it. What a great set of events!!
