Bantu
We need to draft linemen on both sides next year.
panel
If anyone else on the line goes down (besides right tackle) we are in trouble.

method man
This is the only O-line injury we can afford this season. Oh God I hope no one else gets injured. If a guard or Rabach were to get hurt for an extended period, our season is over.
HEavyJumbo85
If Wade is 100% he needs to play, Heyer hasn't been working at RT, and I would personally prefer the solid Veteran over the rookie any day. Heyer played about as well as you could ask when he came in today, but Wade has to be the long term answer there for this season.
edgun88
Heyer faced Jason Taylor a couple of times and he did well. For a rookie, I'm saying.
RySkins
We all like Jansen as a leader and core Redskin - and I hate to see him get hurt - but the team probably upgraded at right tackle today!
Taylorfan2179
I thought it strange and frightening that I started a thread this summer, fearing Heyer lining up against taylor, but we were playing the titans. That relief turned to fear today, but I was impressed, other then that replay of taylor pushing heyer around like a doll.

Vladimir L
Hayer and leave wade as a back up at tackle. If Samuels goes down we know Hayer can move to the left side and Wade back to the right. Hayer could be a solution for the next 8 years.
jivelikenice
It has to be Wade with Heyer moving to the top backup at both spots. Wade has the experience and should not be overwhelmed when we leave the friendly confines of Fed Ex. That being said, helluva Job Stephen!!!! :applause:
Vladimir L
Wade only has proven himself in one game for us. No teams went after Wade aand in Texas he was horrible. So honestly Wade is only as valueble as Hayer. Give the younger guy a chance and we could have a player for the next 8 years.
MEANDWARF
Gibbs normally picks vets over rookies. He and Bugs must see something special in Heyer. So keep him in. If he faulters then put Wade in.
mi6
Why would you not give Heyer the chance? I realize Wade is the 3rd tackle for a reason and was hurt today, but Heyer came in against a good D and our offense excelled. Give the kid a chance before you just replace him. I AGREE with you. Stephon has done all the Skin's have asked him to. What's more is that the running game picked up on his side ... tells you something about his blocking and opening up holes!:point2sky
Art
Stating Heyer isn't a long term solution may or may not be true since none of us knows whether he is or isn't, but, as none of us knows that, stating he isn't merely reflects how little you've paid attention. Heyer has looked quite good in there. I'm inclined to agree with Bufford that he's the answer at least one more week. However, as he's also our primary backup left tackle should Samuels get hurt, I'd hate to have us make two changes along the line to account for one injury. So, play Wade there and continue building Heyer along as he seems like he is the type of guy who may fill a roll for you in the future. We've got no evidence on the field he isn't. Schoolmaster
Heyer looked great, I see him keeping the job until he proves not capable. He might even give Jansen a run for his money next season. I don't think Jansen is here next season.
NewCliche21
This is a major blow in week 1. Who can we get to replace Jansen? Heyer is certainly not a long term solution. What are you talking about? Heyer gives up NOTHING against one of the best rushers in the game while playing right tackle for the first time in his life, but he's not a long term solution? He's also a rookie. Let's see, who's long term: A guy who's been around forever who clearly didn't win that role, or the guy who beat him out for it who has played only one game. Jeez, man. It's hard to be further off than that.
CliffBattles
Wade. To those who think Heyer is as good as Jansen....you are crazy. This is a big loss.
talk show host
Notice Cooleys absense from the passing game? He was helping Heyer most of the time. Wade wouldn't require as much help from a TE. Starting Wade is a no-brainer right now. Heyer is good, but theres no reason to start an undrafted, inexperience rookie in what is very likely gibbs last season as our head coach. This is the year we pretty much NEED to go for it all and we need to go with Wade. As far as Jansen goes, my guess is we either release him or get him to restructure to stay on as a backup next year. nneece
Wade. Who else? Are you asking who we should pick off up another team? While the 'Skins aren't a deep team, the one place we had a quality backup is Tackle. There was concern for me about depth. I've only heard about Heyer playing the position. He's an undrafted rookie, I believe. I wasn't sure of Wade's status. For Heyer, he was getting help from Cooley. We definitely need Cooley to be available for offense production. Heyer sounds like he has a lot of upside and I'm sure will get plenty of playing time but it doesn't seem to me like he is starting material on the caliber of Jon Jansen. I've only heard good things about Jansen, although it's fairly obvious his play has started to fall off, and of course the injuries. I think it would be great for Heyer to backup Wade and develop into the starter of the future.
Taylor 36
I'm sorry, but i think Heyer played good to day. I say give the kid a shot. I agree. At least let Wade and Heyer battle it out in practice. Maybe, we could rotate them during games???
D'Pablo
Losing Jansen is good for our team in the long run. The average age of our OL has now gone from 31.2 to 29.6 years old.
gobigred
I think it will be Heyer did you see the holes he was opening for Portis and Betts. I think he is the tackle for the future. He is big and strong and was moving guys off the line. I think he has won the people over that he needs to win over the coaches.
