Drex
Hopefully the injury to Betts isn't too serious. Big things are expected from him this season.
Siven
Betts has a neck injury I'm picturing MCD5 in a cold sweat.
Cskin
Whittaker was out of shape coming into camp.... but Buges liked his size and strength. Unfortunately, I don't think he started to slim down and maybe his work ethic was less than desired. Wasn't there a TC report here that indicated that Whittaker pulled on a play and his stomach did much of the work and movement? Brown is simply a reserve to get them through camp and this first preseason game. With Portis and Betts probably being held out of this game.... we were left with Rock, Mason, and Blaylock. Maybe the Skins wished to have another RB to share in the load on Sat. night.

I just have to take all positive press out of camp with a grain of salt. Hey, this guy has really impressed us but we cut him today. I really had hoped they were going to bring in a specialist P or K to push the young guys some more.
Skinz_4_life
our OL is thin but they bring in a RB when we already have a boatload of RBs.... why not bring in another OL because our dept is gettin cut down every week
Peregrine
And that ends Whittacker speculation...Thats what happens now with injuries, some guys may have talent, but if they are borderline for making the roster, and end up with an injury, its curtains. Walking Deadman
I hope I don't catch hell for this.... What happened to Betts' neck? No, it's a good question. On TCD Kelly Johnson said he did practice today.....so I'd say it is just a minor injury that they are being very careful with b/c it's his neck. I don't expect him to play Saturday :2cents:

terpfan
Check Gibbs' interview on Redskins.com. They picked up another RB because Betts and Blaylock had minor injuries and with the game coming up they just wanted enough bodies they could run out there. It says nothing about Marcus Mason, IMO. bulldog
so you cut a guy you put as #2 on the depth chart at RG in order to sign a street free agent at running back to have an extra body for a preseason game? Whittacker's injury must be serious enough to have kept him out for 4-6 weeks. When he went down I thought the Redskins would be scanning the wires for a guard to come in and compete for a spot. Instead we sign yet another running back.

Eh... I'm sure if the coaches see something they like out there at OL they won't hesitate to do that. Brown may not even make it past this upcoming game. bulldog
it's strange that you cut a guy at a spot where we have some injury questions and we don't sign a player at that position. rather we sign a guy to be the #4 back for one game because Portis and Betts are going to sit out the Tennessee PRE season game? how hard would it be to let Rock Cartwright and Mason carry the load for one week until Betts comes back to play in the second game? Dee Brown is not going to make the final roster IMO.

Leonard Washington
I hope I don't catch hell for this.... What happened to Betts' neck? he got a stinger in practice on monday. i guess it has lasted a bit. are we at the league required cuts? i think this team makes moves to confuse the fans. cut a qb after a few snaps at a scrimmage. we cut a guy who just got hurt (injury settlement?). and we bring in a guy at one of our deepest position? what's wrong with mason or blaylock? they're expendable in my book. i guess they want brown to beat up on in practice? Chris0894
i think it has everything to do with portis' knee and betts neck...i think the coaches are doing the right thing...same thing they did with duckett. Bringing in a body just in case...imo thes guy wasn't that bad before his injury which got him cut before he had the chance to prove himself again...maybe this is his year....who knows
redsand521
Man I hope Betts' neck and Portis' tendonitis are better really soon. Last thing we need is to head into the season with our running back tandem banged up.
Audible_Red40
At least we didn't give up a 3rd and a 4th for a guy who won't play during the season. That would be dumb.

jrockster21
Hahahahahahaha. I'm sorry, but man. One day Whitticker is the next Larry Allen, the next day he gets cut before the first preseason game. I don't think anyone labeled him the next Larry Allen. He generated some excitement because the coaches were impressed, and he had starting experience, however he was still in a battle for a roster spot. A high-ankle sprain can take months to fully recover from... Its too bad - I think he would have made the roster.
