Gary@Redskins.com
Guys, I had this same procedure done two weeks ago, so I feel I can comment here. I even went to the Redskins team doctor to have my knee cleaned out. The surgery was about 30 minutes. I could walk without crutches or a cane the same day of the surgery. I kept the knee iced and elevated. I didn't even need vicodin, a pain reliever. I was told it would be a 2-6 week rehab, but it's closer to the 2 weeks, really. I was told I didn't need physical therapy, although I'm sure Randy will take advantage of the trainers and rehab specialists on staff. That will help speed his recovery. After a week, I wasn't limping anymore. After two weeks, I still have some soreness where the incisions are, and my knee gets stiff when I sit too long, but that's to be expected. There are some simple flexibility exercises that will help. Trust me, there is absolutely nothing to worry about on Thomas with this surgery. That's not propaganda, that's not PR spin...It's the truth!

Killerbo
I don't know guys.....you guys are quick to brush this off...but it is still surgery even though its a little incision in the knee. I really don't want Fabini on our line if there are any setbacks with Thomas. We also really need to start darfting young talented oline men we can develop. Lurman
The skins publicize this stuff on EVERY player, stars just get more bump from other media outlets, haters dancing (we do it too when it they're guys) and the gloomy guses. We also tend to remember when stuff like this happens to our key players and important acquisitions more than just a guy most think is just camp-fodder. Another reason is that at the NFL level, there's really not much tangible difference between the aces and the also-rans (except for the handful of freaks). Mostly the aces just push themselves harder, just have a higer pain threshold and are usually not whiners. They're more likely to play/practice hurt, try to comeback from an injury too soon, overwork themselves or ignore injury that maybe they shouldn't. On the other hand, firmly entrenched starters are more likely to get away with missing a few weeks of mini-camp to clean out cartilage in their knee. smalex41
I hope all these little injuries that keep coming out are just about us being cautious and NOT allowing anything to get to the season like last year. I just hope they're all as minor as they say.I can concede mini-camp given that Randy will need time to recover from the scope. He's a "PRO" and he knows his body and tolerance levels. I'm sure that he is concentrating on training camp and that he will be prepared.
AceSkinsFan
Thomas is a vet, he knows the scheme and doesn't really need to be part of the mini camp for that reason. I'd rather he get it taken care of now, sit early and be ready for training camp. Better now than in week 5 of the regular season.

Chris Worthy
Thanks for the info Gary. That will ease the concern on the board. Not everyone will fell that way though and will still find a way to worry. Take it easy Randy and dont rush to get back to standing in front of your grill for BBQ.
