After being owned by dallas for so long, I had a sick feeling we'd go down in the last seconds. There was way too much time on the clock for my comfort. That smothering defensive stand that followed was a sight to behold. I reserved my elation till 00.00. That was, without a doubt, one of the grandest larcenies I can think of. Brunnell and Moss flat picked their pockets. What made it so sweet for me was to see the girls go from butt slappin and high fivin to the gutter so fast...and in their own house to boot. I danced a Bruce Willis jig that night.

:eaglesuck

Often forgotten from that night were several clutch scrambles by Mark Brunell. Moss gets all the glory for that comeback, not to take anything away from an incredible performance from him. The truth is, it was Brunell who picked the team up, threw them on his back, and won the game through sheer force of will.

Amazing.

The sight of Daniel Snyder, billionaire, transported back to his youth, jumping up and down like he still had his Redskins belt buckle on, was something I'll also never forget. Those that rip and trash him at every chance should remember that moment and ask whether we were watching someone only out to make money that night.

i was in the living room by myself the wife and kid were asleep. i figured this game was over. the 1st td i was going to the can, but could hear that something good happened. i immediately went back to the tv and saw we had scored.

on the next score i woke up the house. that was a magical moment that i could not subdue. hootin and hollerin and doing the happy dance. no tears, just an absolute exhilaration that is rarely felt.

however, as i was walking around fedex, going to my car after the skins had won the pukes game, my eyes welled with tears. that was the only time i had gotten emotional in that way about a skins game. twas special.

Ok while watching last Seasons first game against Dallas, I kept struggling with thoughts that we would lose the game. I kept trying to push back the overwhelming dread I had felt ever since Coach Gibbs retired. I was kept checking in on the forums seeing people posting they were going to bed (my wife being one of them) and that we sucked. I had to stop looking at the forums, but for some reason I just felt that the Redskins had to pull out the win during this game, so I kept watching. Then the 2 bombs to Santana Moss came!! I guess in my excitement, some dirt got caught in my eye, because a couple tears came down my face. Now I was just wondering, during that win over Dallas, if some others experienced this mysterious dirt in the eye or how they were affected...

Please if you read my story about the TV purchase at Costco before, move forward.

Well, when Moss scored the first one, (the following is an account of the previous day from that point) Though losing, I was still enjoying my new 56" DLP. I had one eye open and then suddenly we were no longer shut out. See I still had a smile on my face from earlier in the day.

I took off at three and went to Costco to buy the TV that I had studied for the past 3 months at various retail locations. I finally had the jack and fully dressed for the occasion, I arrived at Costco. The young guy that was summoned to help me load the new set in my truck kept snickering. And I finally asked him what was so funny. He said, "Well isn't going to suck buying this TV when the Cowboys spank the Redskins for the uptenthtime(sp)?"

Thankfully I paused and said,"Well you see, win or lose in the morning I will still have this TV, but you will still be a ****ing Cowboys fan and that is your ****ing problem.

Needless to say, I was really happy Moss :point2sky scored and got up for a beer  , only to see him score again. So yes you can count me amongst the quietly celebrating. As a side note, I really love my TV. :notworthy

During the Week 2 Dallas game I was deployed to Iraq. I was part of an 11-man section that included 8 Cowgirls fans, 1 Chargers fan, 1 Raiders fan, and myself the only Redskins fan.

One of the guys was a commo specialist who was able to rig up this antenna on top of his housing trailer so we could get the AFN (Armed Forces Network) television feed from the mess hall.

The Monday Night game versus Dallas started at 3am Tuesday morning for us. Six of us were crammed in that trailer designed for two people. I took A LOT of abuse during the first 56 minutes...

That all changed with the 2nd touchdown. When Santana caught that second ball, I remember letting out an absolutely primal, guttural scream that shook the walls.

:point2sky

About 30 seconds later, one of the other guys in my section who was outside (just coming back from a patrol) lowered his shoulder and broke down

the door to the trailer, with his medic's bag in hand...

HE HEARD MY SCREAM AND THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD BEEN WOUNDED!!!

  We laughed about that for months. Except for the Cowgirl fan who actually lived in that trailer... he was pissed enough about the game already, only to have his door knocked off its hinges!!

I was in bed screaming quietly and when the clock hit 00:00, my twin bro (cowboys fan) came into my room and started cussing me out about how we got lucky and suck so bad and won't make the playoffs or beat them the second time that year. Of course we went to that second game at fedex and we all know what happened then! I had to rub it in his face! LOL!

:dallasuck

you have a twin brother that is a 'boys fan? that is rough

Not forgotten here, my perspective of Brunell changed a bit after that night.... from venerable vet steering the ship to wily ol' warhorse capable of makin' it happen.

It was the greatest night in the history of Sports Talk 980 call ins. The next morning I drove down H St. NW honking at Skins fans who still had on there jerseys and window flags to celebrate. I got into a **** talking session w/ a bro standing at the corner of 17th & H who had the nerve to be wearing an #88 Irvin jersey.

I feel to my knees from my chair grabbing my head with my hands quietly saying "I don't believe it, I don't believe it" and when the whistle blew, I laid face down on the floor in front of the tv with my arms spread out still in disbelief.

This was my reaction too. Off the sofa and fell to my knees about 6 inches in front of the TV and I had my hands in my hair. Definitely had a little dirt in the eye, but at the same time I had the most surreal, calm feeling that they were going to pull it off. Just hung onto my head until 00:00, then the screams of joy erupted. Woke up the boyfriend asleep on the sofa who probably thought the house was on fire. Then the long distance calls began! What a night.

I was watching the game with a buddy of mine who has no alliegiance to either team (Dolphins fan) and I kept saying that we suck and there's no way this is going to turn out good. Dan kept saying that he just had a feeling the Redskins were going to come back and win the game. Now I don't know if he was just saying this in a feeble attempt to make me feel better, or that he also hates Dallas OR that he was somewhat drunk at the time.

Regardless of the fact, after the second Moss TD, I just looked at him in disbelief because he called it and I didn't believe it. I didn't scream and yell in joy until the game was officially over because I have had my heart broken in situations like this before like the Dallas game in 2004 where they came back and won or in 1999 when we had a three touchdown lead and they came back and won. So I am always cautious because I don't want to get my heart broken. Hell, I didn't celebrate the second game until there was no way Dallas could come back and win. I just kept telling my wife that I know we are going to lose. I was saying this when the Skins were up 35-7. I am very superstitious...what can I say?

Neither of these choices. I told the people around me "Forget it, come on, it would take the ultimate Redskin miracle to pull this out... a miracle... one the Cowgirls usually get with us. I wish, but it just ain't gonna happen... this would be an absolute miracle if they can do this."

Then BAM!!! Brunell to Moss - TD

I was in shock. :yikes: I kept saying "I don't believe this" then "We finally made up for that Thanksgiving game." :nana:

With about four minutes left I the game, I told my Dad I wanted to go to bed. I NEVER walk out on games, but I was tired and depressed and it was a school night. Fortunately, my Dad told me to stay and watch. I had to pinch myself I thought I was dreaming. After that game, I truely believed in miracles and restored my faith in the team. :helmet: :helmet:

During the Week 2 Dallas game I was deployed to Iraq. ...

God bless all you guys for your service. :notworthy

What a great thread.:applause:

I remember that night as something more than special for family reasons.

My Aunt and Uncle who live in Arizona and St. Louis came up to visit my parents who live an hour away. So I was forced to go visit them and by some miricle I convinced them to watch the game.

The only people out of six of us who wanted to watch were My dad (bears fan) and I.

The pregame hype was awsome. I made everyone choose who they were rooting for. My dad, just to be annoying chose the cowboys, so did my know-nothing-about-football mom (she just knew of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders ) My uncle said he didn't care. My Aunt claimed Geography and chose the Cowboys. My wife had no choice.

I was razzed by those four all night...but I remember thinking and saying that the skins were really playing pretty good ball. I remember they looked fundamentally sound and were playing scrappy D. I told my family that the game was closer than the scoreboard indicated. they just laughed. But later in the game I started to lose hope.

Then bam...touchdown one.

A glimmer of hope. I felt at least my words were vindicated.

if only we could get the ball back.

We did and bam touchdown two.

I jumped out of my seat and screamed so loud I woke my wife up. (she's not a football fan and had fallen asleep next to me) My family (except for my dad) was shocked at my response... they didn't know what kind of extream fan I was.

I proceeded to run around the house and give my 67 year old aunt, my mom, dad and my 63 year old uncle noogies.:)

I told them even at their age ;) there was always time to learn a lesson about faith and Joe Gibbs football.:D:laugh:

It was a great night of family and football. Thank you Redskins. :helmet:

I was in a cast from breaking my foot that morning, waiting for a Hurricane that was coming the next day.

My parents stopped watching into the early fourth when it looked hopeless.

I kept watching....

When we scored the first TD, I screamed, waking them up, and they joined me to watch us score again and win.

I was watching the game with my buddy who is a cowboys fan and some random Cowboy fans that were at the bar. They were rubbing it in my face the entire game.

After Moss scored the first TD I was jumping up and down screaming. At that point a cowboy fan (We will call him Cowgirl One for this story) that was in Seattle on business from the Dallas area asked me if I wanted to put a wager on the game. Me being drunk loving to gamble, I agreed :silly:

After the 2nd TD I was screaming my head off running around the bar; giving high fives to strangers. The waitress told me that I needed to calm down. Yah RIGHT! Once I did calmed down, Cowgirl One asked if I wanted to double the bet. I bet you can guess what I did. Yup... I asked for some $$$ against my tab and added to the pot right during kick return. My jaw about hit the floor and all the Cowgirl fans started ribbing me. But once the final second ticked and the game was over I ran around the bar drunk jumping up and down. The same waitress that told me to calm down earlier in the evening again said that if I did not calm down that I was going to be cut off. Cowgirl One was cool enough to explain to her that I have been waiting for this day for many years.

After the game I bought Cowgirl One a shot for being a great sport. I even called my mom and my wife. I swear they must have thought that I won the LOTERY

I was P/O'd for just about about 55 minutes of that ball game. I couldn't believe that we were getting beat in every single aspect of the game. I was ashamed at how ineffective our offense was, but I was finding light in the strength of the D. And the height of my aggrevation came when I began thinking that we were gonna be shut out in Dallas on Monday night. Disappointment is a serious understatement.

And then it happened. That first beautiful pass from Brunell to Moss, I was so relieved when he caught it. I was like, ok at least I can save some face since we aren't getting shut out. But I was still very frustrated at the performance.

And then lightning struck again! From complete agony to absolute extacy! My wife and kids were sleeping and it was very late, but before I knew it I had lept to my feet and I was screaming so loud that my son woke up and my wife came out of the bedroom griping at me that I was gonna get him back to sleep. But, I totally didn't care, I had just witnessed one of the greatest things that mine eyes had ever beheld. Words simply fail to express the elation that I felt in those moments. I don't think in my life I have ever experienced such an absolute tidal shift in emotions from one moment to the next. It was in those moments that I knew that no matter how the remainder of our season went that it was going to be a good year.

Man I was so pissed the first 56 mins of that game, I was on the phone with a Jets fan, and he said "hey man, ya'll can still come back", at the time I didnt believe it, BUT after that first bomb to Moss, I knew we were coming back. Then after the 2nd bomb to Moss, I knew that our defense would hold up. When the game ended, I was yelling, and called my sister (a cowboy fan), and she didnt pick up.
