Sportscenter: TJ Says Art Monk Deserves Hall

Today on Sportscenter three different guys were asked to choose one player not in the hall that deserves it. Tom Jackson chose Art Monk as his player and said that If other Hall of Famers come to him and ask him why Art Monk isn't in the Hall of Fame, then that is a good enough reason for him to put Monk in.

The former players know he deserves it, put him in!!!!

John Clayton said the reason Monk is not in the Hall of Fame is because Irvin and Monk take votes from each other.

Monk for the HOF!!!:point2sky

Monk's been eligible years before Irvin
Monk was eligible for four years before Irvin ... in the first three years, he lost out to Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, and James Lofton, who had all been waiting longer. In 2004, Monk lost out to Bob Hayes, who actually made the final 6 but wasn't inducted. The same thing happenned in 2005 with Irvin, who made the final 6 but wasn't inducted. Last year, neither Monk nor Irvin made it into the final 6, but Irvin got a few more votes.

In any case, John Clayton is a big Monk supporter, so nobody should have any beef with him.

Monk will make it in the next couple years, if only because those who snub him will have the actual facts thrown in their faces daily until he gets in.

Monk is the only #1 in Career Receptions not in the HOF. He was the first to catch 100 passes in a season. He was clutch in so many games and I don't remember ever being pissed because he dropped a ball, that says something. Everybody drops balls, but Monk didn't.

Art is not in because of 1 man's campain against him

Peter King

I even heard him on the radio ounce a few years back saying that he would even fly personally to other voter's cities just to lobby against them voting for Monk

insane

Yeah, it's like if the Washington rep campaingned against Emmitt Smith claiming that he was just a system back. I mean, if you averaged 300 carries a year for 15 years you'd probably have 18000 yards too behind that line.

(because you know that actually being that durable over all those years and playing injured means nothing)
