Sheesh! Tim's no slouch either. Fedor just made a lot of UFC fighters look bad.

You mean by dodging the cage that gave all the other pride fighters fits? I don't think so. Fighting an aging slowing Sylvia in an unfamiliar setting isn't a big deal. It's just the best affliction could do.

The event sucked IMO.

Affliction SUCKS. How much longer could the wait for the main event be? Terrible.

Edit: And it's a horrible main event at that.

UFC still has MMA on lock down, and the cage is better than affliction: pride wanna be.

That wait saved me. Sopcast went down and I had to dl TVU real quick. Though I don't care about Megadeath at all. It was their first event so they get some pass but production was lacking.

The main event was not horrible at all and thats before and after the fight. In a couple UFC the main event is Bisping vs Leben. UFC has MMA on lock down they can give us main events like that. Only good thing is that it will be free. (that card should be good though)

Not all the main events are good in the UFC.... but you are getting one a month and sometimes two. There is a lot of MMA to watch with UFC and when that's the case not every main event is going to include a known and respected fighter. There are new guys making names for themselves and some mid level guys that may not be great but put on a good show.

Glad I didn't buy it then.

Thought the event sucked. What can I say. Production value was weak, fights were so so, main event took forever to start and sucked. It was a long poorly produced comercial for overly priced graphic tees.
The last four fight were entertaining. Look at early UFCs and compare it to this. Eventually their production will get better. As a first show it was entertaining. Also I bet you were excited when Couture beat Slyvia. It took him 5 rounds and here Fedor does it in less than a minute.

this fight never got out of the center of the ring. the same result would've happened in a cage or ring

I've thought the heavy weight division sucked for a long time. I will admit however that I've never been into heavy weights in MMA. They are generally slower and more boring to watch.

Having said that Randy Couture's appeal has been his age. Not a whole lot of 45 year olds fighting for titles these days.

Also in MMA quick knock outs happen. Look at Liddell Rampage. Does that mean no 205 in the UFC can touch Rampage? Clearly it doesn't being that he recently lost. You're logic that what Fedor did means that no one in the UFC can touch him is garbage.

I wasn't using that example to say no one in the UFC can touch him. Using it to say that Randy and Fedor isn't on the same level. Though I will say I very much believe that no one in the UFC is seeing Fedor. I would rather see Fedor fight Barnett or Arlovski than any HW in the UFC.

Good looking card. Going out on a little limb. I've got Uno beating Aoki and Alvaraz beating Kawajiri. Alvarez winning it all.

Mark Hunt is going to crush Overeem. I thought he was going to stay at LHW. Hansen-Mamba should be a good fight too.

The Affliction event last night was great. The card did not pan out to be as great as it was on paper, however it being the first big event I've seen live (been to some small ones), I had a blast. The fights themselves were proving to be lackluster until Josh Barnett kicked the excitement off with a devastating left hook that dropped Pedro Rizzo like a Rock. The crowd went nuts and kept it up the rest of the night.

Arlovski was a huge fan favorite. Crowd was going crazy for him. He didn't disappoint. He looked like the Arlovski everyone fell in love with years ago. He completely destroyed Rothwell. Main even t was next, but not before more Megadeath. I have to admit that I had no idea what Megadeath was doing there, but I loved them. They got me pumped between fights. Maybe it didn't come of as exciting on tv, but it was a nice touch live.

I didn't think the crowd could cheer any louder than they did for Arlovski, but I was wrong. Fedor set the place on fire. Russian flags popped up everywhere. Everyone was on their feet. Then Fedor destroyed Sylvia before anyone really caught their breathe from the intros. It felt like a Tyson fight in the Eighties. On the drive home I was taling to my buddy and we said we may have been disappointed if we forked over 40 bucks and saw it on tv, but it was worth every penny to witness Fedor live.

The funniest part of the night was between some of the fights they showed Fedor in the back "getting ready", and he was playing just chillin playing cards. We joked that he was probably playing "Go Fish" and kicking ass at it.

Are you sure about that start time? I thought it started in two and a half hrs?

These fights should be awesome. May be the best event top to bottom of the weekend (since Affliction didn't do as well as it looked on paper).

Overeem-Hunt should be a war. Overreem has all the tools to be a great fighter. He just needs to stay focussed and well conditioned.

Picking this tourney is like throwing darts. The way they have been fighting, any of the contestants could win it.

I'll take Uno over Alvarez.

when we saw Fedor playing cards, my roommate looked at me told me Tim would be destroyed inside of 2min. i thought it would take a little longer

So Fedor walks around at 230. Anderson Silva walks around at 220. Anyone else hoping for a super fight in a year or so?

Unless Fedor comes to the UFC (which i don't see happening), that fight will be an argument for MMA fans to chew on. Anderson is not leaving the UFC under any circumstances.

I'm not so sure. Anderson really wants to try his hat at boxing, and Dana is won't let that happen. Anderson has 3 fights left on his deal I believe. It will be very interesting when his deal runs out.
