Spaceman Spiff
I think baseball has an iron clad lock on the top spots. What do you all think? 1. Bob Gibsons ERA of 1.12 in 1968. 2. Cy Youngs 511 Wins. 3. DiMaggio's 56 game hit streak. 4. Nolan Ryans 5,714 strikeouts. 5. Jerry Rice's touchdown record

Gibson, DiMaggio, & Ryan's will be VERY difficult to break. Rice could go down........maybe. As for other "locks": 1. Walter Johnson 110 career shutouts. 2. Cy Young 316 career losses. 3. Cy Young 749 career complete games. 4a. Wil White 75 complete games single season(1879) 4b. Jack Chesbro 48 complete games single season(1904) modern era. 5a. Old Hoss Radbourn 59 wins single season(1884) 5b. Jack Chesbro 41 wins single season(1904) modern era. .

Mr. S
I think Rice's record could easily be broken. Not sure any receiver around could do it, but lets say Santonio Holmes or Chad Jackson or some other guy gets 10 tds next year, and more and more after. What about Bruce Smith's sack record (even though Reggie White and Deacon Jones probably had more)? I think that could conceivably be broken. rincewind
The one i always say is - Johnny Van Dermeer (sp?) back-to-back no hitters. In order to break it you would have to throw 3 in a row - ain't gonna happen.
Enter Apotheosis
wilts 100 will not Everyone would have listed that one as unbreakable before Kobe got 81 points in that one game. It will still be incredibly hard for anyone to reach...

rincewind
Ripken's WILL be broken - showing up to work every day is not impressive IMO Atlanta's 14 consecutive division titles Ripken - NOT A CHANCE, and i HATE, HATE, HATE the fact that he has the record. But i don't see anybody else ever coming close. Atlanta - the Yankees have the second longest streak ever right now, so that record is far from safe.
