Busch1724
I wonder if he'll attempt to eat his phone? Can we just call him dumb fat bast@rd from now on?
Busch1724
Maybe he's right about Saunders or mabye not, but when he's on TV I just cringe at what stupidity if coming up next. He played with Jeff George in high school and thinks he's still a possible pro bowl caliber player.

bubba9497
He praises Herm Edwards professionalism, yet NY media says Edwards orchestrated his departure, and left the Jet coaching staff hanging. Saunders was with Vermil in St. Louis, if he was such a back stabbing climber, you'd think he would have went after the Rams job over Martz. Also he followed Vermil to KC, for 5 years. 8 years on Vermils staff, and Vermil a well respected HC, not only campaigned for Saunders hire as the new KC HC, but gave Joe Gibbs (a close friend) excellent recommendations about Saunders. you'd think after 8 years with Al, Dick would have noticed if he was a snake in the grass as Whitlock tries to convey. bubba9497
Can anyone transcribe the interview for us who wasn't able to listen to him? Only heard part of it. His "source" about Saunders was talking with an old Charger personnel guy, who said he was behind getting Coryell the ax in San Diego, then had 3 terrible years as a HC for the chargers. That's it.. one guy from almost 20 years ago... nothing current..... Blamed the fact the Chiefs only played one playoff game in 5 years on Saunders as much as the defense Then he talked about what a great hire Edwards was, and how professional Herm was (see above)... and that him and the new OC were just what the Chiefs needed. came off as a jilted fan, more than anything else. Clearly the problem here is that Vermeil is a bootlicking Saunders homer that wears Saunders shaded glasses.

gortiz
he gave zero insight about saunders, none. He spoke a lot more about Ron Artest then his article ... brutal.
MoeRedskins
I guess Whitlock is one of those fans that hates somebody as soon as they leave the organization to go elsewhere. Whitlock was singing Saunders's praises during the regular season, but now I guess Saunders is a snake.
21dave
I wish they had the other KC writer who wrote an article for the same paper the day before talking about how great Saunders was to provide a counterpoint.
Oldskool
Seriously it was Kornhole and Whitlock. Did anyone really expect any revelations to be brought forth? Im surprised it didnt wasn't bumper to bumper Skins bashing.

Doctor ToughLove
Saunders is overqualified as an offensive coordinator. He worked the KC offense into one of the best. He worked the Rams offense into one of the best. He worked the Chargers into one of the best. And he is a former head coach. Sounds like sour grapes to me. KC overlooking him as head coach, gave him a new boss, after he rebuilt their offense into one of the best in 3 years... and big surprise - he left. No one cries over bad coaches leaving. SlobberKnockinFootball
It wasn't the offense that kept the Chiefs out of the playoffs. We all know their defense is highly suspect. They're kind of like the Wizards... They have to outscore someone to win.

Because to me, that sounds like a post on ES of just making outlandish statements with nothing back it up. Kind of like my posts Kornheiser quoted his article, highlighting where he called Saunders a Snake, saying that was a very harsh statement. Whitlock said .. "well it's true", but the ONLY eveidence he gave was the old Chargers personel guy. And the fact that with 10 HC jobs open he only got a interview with the Raiders, and Davis wasn't interested... though others have reported he talked with the Texans, and a couple other teams by phone. Whitlock also failed to mention of the 9 hires none of the fired coaches were hired to fill those jobs. Herm was traded. Not even guru's on offense like Martz, and Sherman got more interest than Saunders. And he is age 59, and his last HC experience was 20 years ago. Almost all the new hires went way young.... but why let facts cloud an issue.
ddyork
Saunders had a super-bowl offense in KC. It's just that their defense wasn't worth a darn. Also, if Saunders did what Whitlock says he did, then why would Gibbs have hired him? Gibbs knows there is no truth to that rumor. Whitlock lost a lot of credibility with that story. Sour Grapes...
