  1. Been an avid fan for the last 36 years. The last 10 or so years have been putrid, though. If anyone is interested, here's my method to avoid losing my mind. 1) I assume the WTF will lose every game. EVERY GAME. Right there, that's taking a huge load off any anger-producing situation. That's it.
  2. There's only one question regarding this game: Will Rogers throw for more than 400 yards and at least 4TDs? I like to play these mind games with myself when we have 99.9% of losing a game. This is one of those occasions.
  3. Oh absolutely. Tho O is mediocre to say the least. But this Defense is turning out to be historically bad. It's very posible this year we surpass our all-time worst of 478 points allowed back in 2013. We're almost there at 186!
  4. Well, they were who we thought they were. As of today, we are officially the worst defense in the NFL in PPG allowed at 31, second-to last in yards allowed per game (423) and passing yards allowed per game (309). Mahomes put up a 400 burger against us and managed to burn us with 12.5 yards every time he completed a pass. Of course this was a complete surprise to everyone at the WTF. No one would have possible planned for this. Our Offense has problems, yes no doubt, but no where near the problems on D. Sad thing is Rivera is a defense minded coach?
  5. No way we can compete against KC, not without Terry. The ONLY viable strategy is to contain them by running effectively. Eat-up the clock. If we try to go all-air against them this game will be over by early second quarter. I wish I was joking but I'm not.
  6. That's a fine memory you got there hehe. We also sent the Bears two first-round picks for him in two different years. That's some serious interest in a LB. He was well worth it, IMO. The guy was a winner. Man, how has this franschise fallen....
  7. Well, the Posse was legit and the O-Line was gold. The whole League knew about these guys. On Defense there were three stars: Charles Mann, Darrell Green and Wilber Marshall, of 85 Bears fame, probably our most expensive FA adquisition ever in the modern era. And of course everyone respected Gibbs in and outside DC. A lot of our games were primetime events, also. Unbelievable today, I know.
  8. People forget the historical context of the magnificent '91 Redskins team. Let's take a moment to list some of those most obvious factors that really made the 14-2 season so great (it should have been 15-1 really. We let off the gas during the last game of the season). HIGHLY comptetive NFC East: Eagles were brutal, Giants had LT and had just won the SB, Dallas was rapidly becoming a threat. The 49rs were an absolute juggernaut even when Montana was injured. Bears were still respectable, as were the Saints (Falcons and Detroit were one trick ponies). Bills destroyed practically every team they played that year and their offense was impressive. The team dominated most opponents and belted out victories at New York, Dallas (both always diificult), Chicago, and also defeated the great Houston Oilers led by Warren Moon in a game for the decades. Every game was impressive. Luck played little part in the 14-2 record (the Oiler's game being the only clear case of having good luck to win). The historic season was no fluke obviously. We had been playing very good football for years. The team was stacked. Gibbs publicly dared Rypien to find the "fire in his belly" to lead the team to a SB win. QB was really the only question mark left. Rypien deliverd under pressure and the rest is history.
  9. The latter. Our match-up history is TERRIBLE versus KC --> 9 loses and just 1 victory in 1983. We've never beaten them at Arrowhead. Never. Not that it matters much, since these days it seems like every home game at FedEx has more fans of the opposing team.
  10. It'l be over when Mahomes drops 4 bombs on us in the first half. Maybe 5 😄
  11. Hard to quantify, yes. But that team's rise and success and our downfall adds to overall stench around the franchise.
  12. Just a short list of reasons of the last 20 years, off the top of my head: No name team No identity since forever Mediocre product on the field RFK's location was (is) very centric, FedEx Field not so much (this is huge) Terrible ownership Carrousel coaching staff QB carrousel League clowns for at least four years (Spurrier & Zorn eras) Internal drama Vinny Peeping Toms at the excutive level Baltimore Ravens I'd also like to stress that after our last SB victory we had some terrible seasons but the Cooke family would never have allowed the absolute debasing of the team like The Danny has done for the last 20 years. The Cooks were hard ****s yes, not to everyone's liking, but they had the notion of respectability at least. By the late 90s, with a few terrible "changing of the guard" seasons, this team was still very competive and had personality. Norv stayed the ship (Oficially 1999 was The Danny's first season. He arrived during that Summer. In reality 1999 was a continuation of the previous regime. It was a good season by any standard). It's amazing there's any fan base at all really.
  13. Chefs: 52 Mid-Life Crisis Team With No Identity: 42 The battle of the terrible defenses. KC is dead last in PPG allowed. Guess who's second to last? I'm expecting a 40 burger before the end of the half by either team.
  14. Funny you didn't mention we are absolute dead last in the NFL in points scored against our Defense at 31 PPG. We normally need 8-12 plays to score. Opposing teams go 2-3 plays boom TD! Demoralizing as hell. The current safety situaton is making me nostalgic for the Adam Archuleta / Laron Landry era, by the way. Two plays and 40 seconds away from 0-5. That's our reality. It's gonna be a long season.
  15. How about Jay Schroedder, Trent Green (drafted by San Diego but basically a rookie when he arrived here) and Kirk Cousins? Talent HAS PASSED through the team, but the coaches/FO always seem to muck-up the QB situation either by internal politics or a poorly managed locker room.
  16. This secondary is terrible. Wilson had 4 TDs and a 18.6 YPP average. What?! Another 30 burger by the way, only this time we made crucial mistakes at the worst posible time. Lets be honest here. We are basically two plays away from an 0-5 season. Until the secondary steps up this looks like a long and frustrating season.
  17. 30 + or broke I'm calling this year's squad the Pre Mid-life Crisis Team. PMLCT: 34 Aint's: 30
  18. Man PHI really sucks. Hurts is terrible. We should be able to beat them.
  19. No. In July Rivera made some pretty strong comments against unnamed players that opted not to get the vax. This could be their way of protesting.
  20. Pure speculation but yes, this would NOT be the first time the players start a power struggle with the HC. I really hope it's not the case, but man the D stinks. If there's something related to the vax issue, the local press will pick it up sooner or later.
  21. This supposedly stout D just gave up almost 500 yards to the Bills. Something's not right. I sense it's a vax-related issue.
  22. Not sure how to win at Buff, honestly. I'll settle for another good outing by Heine, since the D is nowhere to be found. Niagara Falls South: 35 Team with a QB but no name: 24
  23. After lastnight's game it should be clear Fitz, if he returns, should accept a backup role. As some of us noted after the TB game, Heinicke is the real deal. Sadly, our D remains suspect so it seems every game this season will neccesitate 30 points from the offense to be winnable.
  24. WTF 24 NYG 21 This will be a close one, like most games between these franchises since forever. They key will be our secondary versus their QB. Every other category is pretty much equal. If we can limit demoralizing third-and-long conversions achieved by passing plays we have a very good chance of a win. The secondary MUST step up.
