Broken #1QB. Now who should start?

I understand where you're coming from man, but this ain't Madden 2023. Until the playoffs are out of the question, Heine needs to start if Wentz can't play. Throwing the rookie in there would send a catastrophic message to the whole team that the season is over. Rivera would be last person to make such a drastic change. He likes small but constant gains and putting a rookie QB a third of the way into the season is a massive gamble he doesn't need. -

Why would you insert a rookie instead of a QB who was actual NFL and playoff experience? Only a fool would pick Howell to play instead of Heine. Also, it would dismantle the locker room. And let's not even talk about forcing an inexperienced QB to play behind a porous OL, like Pat Ramsey found out the hard way with Spurrier. Consequences can be devastating. -
That was an atroucious game. There's a worse team than us out there. I have no positive feelings going forward after last night's performance. Luck was on our side on this one but you can't expect our competent D-Line to bail us out every damn time.

11-0 or we don't go.

Best part of the game was one of the TV commentators saying "The Redskins are driving..." and the other guy immediately correcting him "The COMMANDERS...". Followed by absolute silence. Got a good chuckle out of that one.

You see this is one of those games that embarass us as fans. Henry will run for 200 yards and Tannehill will look like Warren Moon circa 1993. There is no way in the Seven Hells we win this one. It'll be ugly. Then again, I'll probably just zone out during sometime in the 3rd quarter because even if we muster a few drives to make the game interesting they just push the accelator a bit more and end it. TEN: 28 WSH: 10

Yes! I swear that was the lesson we learned here with Marty until Snyder fired him bc he thought our games were boring. Run, run, run and throw a long pass here and there. I was HYPED when we finished 8-8 because we did what worked BEST for that particular team, even with average talent in most positions (i.e. establish a solid defense and run Davis until the opposing defense tired, sprinkle a few long passes here and there) Gibbs did the same thing with Portis and Brunell. Shanny as well until the wheels fell off RGIII. All of these teams had identity. WE'VE HAVE ZERO IDENTITY WITH RIVERA. NONE. Unless you consider irregularity at every level a team identity.

Where is the Burgundy and Gold? Who the heck are these guys???

I turned the game about 10 minutes after the hour. I honestly thought I was watching the Steelers. Then reality set in and I said aloud to myself "oh F*ck". There's a silver thread though. The loss was much more bearable with the black unis. I watched the remainder of the game with some distance, like a dream, as if I were lobotomized. This is definitely not the team I grew up with. -
Next Day Thread: Washing Dallas (Is it Draft Time Yet?)

This. Heine ran for his life most of last year. He avoided at least 50% of sacks with his running around like a headless chicken which sometimes paid off with big gains downfield. -

It's time to consider 1-16. I've seen enough. Run game was good today, a rare event, but the team is just so unstable it's impossible to know where the next problem will appear week to week. I'm sensing the players know this and the team is about to implode. -
This way of thinking does not apply here. It's exactly the reverse: loose a bunch of games and show competence every once y a while.

It's the HOW we lost, bro. Both the PHI and DET loses were complete melt-downs from the very start of the games. It shows a complete lack of mental preparation from week-to-week. Now that's pathetic.

Worst 30 years in DC football history - Which Generation had it worse
El Mexican replied to TMK9973's topic in The Stadium
Frankly, the last stretch of the Marty era was the LAST time I saw any kind of personality in this franchise (not counting Gibbs 2.0). It was boring but efficient: run Davis until the opposing defense gave up. Pepper it with some long passes here and there and don't commit turnovers. 8-8, baby! Everyone knew we would run-run-run and that was fine. No fancy scheming. -
I do that regularly. Those were well-coached teams and it shows. They played hard and fast and everyone did what they were supposed to do. A real joy to watch, really. I don't understand when people say the NFL is faster now. Watching those old Redskins-Giants game from the 80s-90s, for example, I see plenty of speed and masterful execution.

I just don't care anymore. Strange thing is the pathetic state of the franchise has also affected my passion for the NFL in general. It seems like every other NFL game I watch I marvel at the speed, intelligence and power of other team's players. Not with WSH, though. There's a huge drop-off in the overall quality of the product I'm watching on my TV. Maybe that's one reason most NFL owners want Dan to sell the team? A general feeling of desperation around this long and storied franchise that seems stuck in oblivion for the past 20 years?
