Why am I Mr. Pink?

I can only speak for me and how I view these issues. White people can and do define "racism" but in my 1 person world - I dont think a member of the oppressor group should be in charge of defining the terms of their oppression upon the oppresse. I only speak for me. I dont dictate what other people should do or say or think. I dont try to place my own personal rules of thought on others. If a white person wants to define what is racist and what is not racist, 100% their right to do so. I wont and dont judge them. maybe Ill learn something that I can apply to my evolving thoughts. Just not my way of going about that very specific issue. I wouldnt want a stranger defining my parenting style or my lifestyle. They are not in a position to, they dont have enough facts and they never will. Outside maybe my wife or immediate immediate family, no one would know enough to be in a position to do so. They can but I would most likely give it 0% consideration. So, as a white guy, how can I even come close to defining what is racist and what is not? Thats like some stranger judging my parenting skills based off watching me and my kid for 2 minutes. Itd be like trying to write a movie review when you didnt actually see the movie. Id probably miss a lot of context and details and end up with an objectively inaccurate summary of what the movie was about.

I dont think minorities can be racist bc I think "systemic/institutional power of the majority" and "use of power to maintain status quo" are necessary elements. A black or latin demographic doesnt have that power. A black butcher giving black people discounts on meat but not white people at your local Harris Teeter doesnt rise to the level of institutional power even though the black butcher is in a position of power to give preference to one customer over another. I try to use words like prejudice or stereotypes when talking about minorities treating others unfairly just bc of their skin color or gender identity. I also believe a white person cannot define "racism" or "racist" .. and Im a white guy ... so .... yeah.

While it will take some money out of my pocket, I think its fair and reasonable. States should see a boon in budget. This is a huge money injection.

There has to be a middle ground here. Republicans want to end the policy of catching illegal immigrants at he border and then releasing them on a promise to show up for a future Court hearing. I get that. Democrats want a compassionate response to people who come from tough conditions seeking a better life. I get that. But we cant take and allow every person who crosses the border to stay here. We need tougher and more practical reforms and tougher enforcement at the border and the workplace. Open borders and automatic assimilation into our Country and its system is not a viable policy. This will cost a S ton of money but I think we need stronger border patrol, detention centers that can house families and then expedited hearings. I think we need compassionate federally paid immigration lawyers representing each person. Just because you have a hearing doesnt mean you will be rejected. We granted 1,183,505 "green cards" in 2016, with Mexico being the highest number of recipients. Immigration reform is long over due. I love Pres Obama but I wish he was the one making these tough choices that a lot of his base wouldnt fully accept .. versus ****ing trump/sessions and miller taking a sledge hammer to things. edit - this is somewhat Cruz' proposal and I hate that guy. My fear is that Trump will get to pick all the new federal immigration judges and it will be political. There needs to be some way of ensuring the rejection rate doesnt sky rocket under newly appointed anti-immigration immigration judges.

Yesh .... that is a stereotypical statement and thought. All women should act the same, think the same .. as if all women should coordinate in unison how they should come across. You might counter that "having empathy" is a good trait and thus no harm, no foul. But I disagree. If you can lump an entire gender together for a positive trait, you may very well just as easily do that for negative ones as well. You can see where this is going. Broad brush. I dont know if the officers body cam was a fish lens or something ... but it seemed like Sterling Brown got real close to the cop right from the get go. Then the cop tells him to back up several times and Brown doesnt. I feel like if I did that, I would have been body slammed real quick. But Im not 6'6" so a lone officer wouldnt hesitate to get physical with me. I dont think the Sterling Brown incident is even in the same ball park as some of the other crap you see out there, guys just walking home and getting profiled and harassed until the situation escalates to excessive force.

I love watching Wall play but Im not sure the team can reach any higher than it already has under him. I never said any player was disruptive. I support players kneeling. My sentence included people and players. Just dont talk as in dont talk during the anthem. Talk and explain why you kneel before and afterwards all you want. Go to schools and talk to the kids. Give interviews. Be a speaker at graduations and city festivals and gatherings. Get your voice out there, players have a tremendous platform. If someone talks or acts up during the anthem, they should anticipate and expect to get an ear full when the anthem is done.

I think some people do think the kneeling is done to be anti-american and anti-military. I think some people understand the kneeling is done for police-racial injustice and dont think it is anti-american or anti-military but think the Anthem is the wrong time and platform to make a civil rights display of grievance. I stand but if someone wants to sit or player wants to kneel, im 100% for that. Go for it, just dont talk or be disruptive please. I wish the issue would go away. The second a team fines a player, it will go to the Courts to interpret whether this is allowed under the CBA and if it is, whether it is a legal and enforceable under employment/contract law. This isnt going away. The second a player is fined it will trigger years of litigation with the NFL seeking binding arbitration and the NFLPA filing an injunction/lawsuit in a favorable federal court district. NFL files a stay of the injunction, etc .. by this point we are all legal experts on federal employment law after following the Brady And Elliot sagas. 1st issue for arbitration? Whether this has to be arbitrated. NFL should have just said the Anthem will be played 20 mins prior to kick off and players will remain in the locker room. Afterwards, players can come out and warm up for kick off. Done and done.

I just got through the 5th episode of season 3 breaking bad ... lol I am soooooo far behind in tv show watching. I get 1-3 hours a night and its mostly sports or adult swim.

I took the family to the baltimore aquarium on Saturday. Afterwards we decided we'd head to Kislings for wings and cheese steaks like me and my lady used to do when we lived in the City and didnt have a kid. Stopped for traffic on Pratt and Eden. I want to say it seemed like things were moving in slow motion, like the ppl were running in slow motion but idk. I changed lanes and got us out of there. This was maybe the closest Ive been to gun violence. Ive been close two other times but this seemed different. This was 1 block directly north of us. Shorter city block, not the big long ones. I guess my point is ... I didnt react. I guess I froze. I was stuck in my head telling myself those arent fireworks thats gun shots. Then I thought, dang that guy got 5-6 shots off in less than 3 seconds, how'd he do that. And I replayed the pop, pop, pops in my head .. the wife had to spark me into getting us out of there. I lived in baltimore 9-10 years or so and never had this happen. This was 2 blocks from our old apartment. It has me thinking, I did freeze. I understand and agree with that. But a pet peeve of mine is when people wrongly claim something is against or protected by the Constitution. Like the guy supposedly kicked from a NYC bar bc of a maga hat. Republicans were screaming it violates his 1st A rights .. even though there was no state action. That did bring up a good micro point in comparison to the gay wedding cake battle. Sexual identity is protected and cant be used to discriminate by stores open to the public ... but political beliefs are not protected and can be used to deny service. Border patrol agents asking people if they are US citizens is NOT against the US Constitution. Constitutional rights are different at the border (watered down). Plus, asking a question is not against the Constitution anytime, anywhere. A cop can walk up to you in a McDonalds in Rockville MD and ask if you are a US citizen. I dont think you have to answer (you might have to produce ID if a cop asks for it, not sure on that ). Detaining someone, when a reasonable person would not feel like they are free to leave, based solely on the fact the cop thinks the person is an illegal without objective, reasonable and articuable suspicion of a crime afoot is against the Constitutional rights .. of a US citizen. I dont get the point of the caravan. You cant just show up to the US border and expect or demand to be let in. edit - ive crossed that exact border maybe 20-30 times. Lots of long lines for ppl with day work visas. I recommend "renting" a bike that allows you to use an express lane of sorts.

Dropped mother in law back off in W Va after Easter and pretty much immediately saw a big beat up truck flying a huge Confederate flag. It does send a chill through you. It is a flag of hate. It does make me mad. Saw a hispanic guy with an upside down American flag on his mud flaps for his van. That does make me mad as well. Id leave the Confederate stuff up. Educate the kids that these were the racist slave owning losers of the Civil War and the enemy of the USA.

Watching the body cam videos of the Stephon Clark police killing ... it was really dark and pretty tense from the police perspective. If I was an officer in a high crime area, I dont think I am getting out of my squad car to chase anyone at night, in the dark. Zero incentive for a police officer to pursue someone at night for anything less than a fresh murderer or rapist or serious serious criminal that poses a danger to commit more violent crimes in the very near future. Tough split second life-altering decisions.

Im a democrat but I am all for stopping the caravan or anyone from entering or sneaking across the border illegally. Im a democrat but I am all for returning any person who is found sneaking across the border back to their country instead of giving them a Court date and expecting them to appear. Im a democrat and I am all for giving amnesty to anyone who is currently in this country and does not have a felony conviction. After the amnesty date, anyone who enters this country illegally will be returned their country of origin on an immediate detainer if they are not granted temporary asylum.

Currently having this debate in my house hold. Daughter is 6, only child. We live in a town house/apartment complex neighborhood with "okay" kids running around. parents dont monitor them, sometimes 3 year olds wander into the street. In the summer, I buy lots of cheap water guns for the kids to play with. Feed a couple kids I know dont eat regularly. I want to let my 6 year old run around, scrap her knees, climb trees etc bc I think she is pretty sheltered. Not enough interaction w other kids, no siblings and we have moved every year. Wife wants one of us to be out there at all times when out daughter is out front. Which basically means I will have to be out front the whole time bc I am the only one that plays w her while wife has some mental and health issues. I wonder how much her position is based off the fact that duties then fall to me while she sits in the house enjoying tv. No right answer, no wrong answer imo. My daughter watches Cookie Swirl C which are adults or kids playing w dolls and making voices etc. And the minecraft stuff. No harm in them but I am worried suggested videos will lead her away from that to "fail videos" to violent videos .... I think kids being exposed to technology is important. Learning how to use different apps/interfaces/etc

Im not worrying about it bc it is way to early and there will be a ton of change but we dont have a receiver that can move the chains and pass block. Basically, we dont have a Pierre Garcon. Crowder is a better version of Richardson. Doctson may be the X receiver we desperately need but he would need to make big strides this year and stay healthy.
